Wow this place I have driven by so many times and it doesn't look like much on the outside but I ordered Peking duck from here and it was one of the best in Calgary. I've been to almost every Chinese restaurant to eat Peking duck and this place has the crispiest duck skin. The owner Jenny is so sweet she came and talked to us normally owners stay hidden in the back but you could tell she really cares about the customers.

I placed an order for a Cantonese Fried Noodles, Salt & Pepper beef and a shrimp with cashews. The Cantonese fried noodles has really tasty broccolis and the noodles are nice and moist. The salt and pepper beef is a deep fried dish. I think they over cooked the beef and they may also have forgotten the salt. It was pretty tasteless and chewy even though it looks really good. The shrimp with cashew is also very tasty and goes well with steamed rice. Two out of three were a hit. I took off one star for the not so good salt and pepper beef.

Super friendly staff! Food was hot and ready when I got there. I don't think that there would be any more food packed into each container. The aroma taunted me all the way home. When I unpacked it it was as tasty as it smelled! I loved it. We have enough food until tomorrow's dinner!

I keep receiving flyers from Emerald Garden in my mail, and I usually just toss them into the recycling. I don't know what made me change my mind the other day and finally order some food from this place. The place is on 16th and the food arrived surprisingly fast. It was like they already knew what I was going to order and had someone dispatched before I even called. It was awesome. And, because the food was so quick to come, it was still nice and warm when we got it. I love warm delivery. They have a pretty standard Chinese menu with the usual soup, noodles, fried rice, beef, chicken and pork dishes. They've also got a couple items that break the fold when it comes to menus such as duck, hot pot dishes, egg foo yung, and sizzling rice dishes, whatever that means. It has average prices for the food you get, but you always get a lot of food and have leftovers for a couple of days. That's the beauty of Chinese food. Emerald Garden certainly satisfied our taste buds that night and next time I won't be so quick to disregard the menu.

Probably our fav chinese food place for Calgary. We have been going here for over 15 years. The food is always very tasty and fresh. We normally order the hot and sour soup. Then Szechuan chicken or beef on sizzling plate, ginger beef, Cantonese chow main. Everything is awesome and it's cool to try the Macau dishes as well.

Our Family Favourite, this Chinese restaurant not only offers a Chinese food menu but also a Portuguese menu, an influence from MACAU, the Portuguese colony 40 minutes from Hong Kong, our family get togethers or celebrations happen here often, the service is always great, and the food, always pleasing and delicious, the only thing I can say is the seats are uncomfortable but everything else is great, I am trying to get family together here lots in 2015, the prices are great, just nice evenings out, our family fav dishes include the Ginger Beef, Ginger Chicken, Corn Soup, Coconut Rice, and many more.

I've been here half a dozen times, and am always impressed by the consistent quality of both the food and the service. The sign says "Peking & Seafood", but they also specialize in dishes from Macau. These include various Portuguese seasoned char-grilled meats, and delicious curries with aniseed for an Asian twist. These are not items you'll find on many menus, but they are definitely approachable for the average Calgarian. If you're afraid to order new dishes in Chinatown because they might come with that nasty pork that has the texture of pocket lint, try the all-kinds-of-awesome offerings at Emerald Garden instead. You won't want to touch bobo balls or sweet and sour chicken with a ten foot chop stick afterwards!

Went here with some friends who were going through their list of "goodbye Calgary" restaurant favourites. Was the first time but not last. Dumplings are my Chinese cuisine fave and this place knows how to do them very well! Service was prompt and cheerful too.

This restaurant in Calgary's Chinatown was highly recommended by a family member, and they were…read moreabsolutely right. We had been eating overly heavy dinners over the past few days, so we decided to be relatively gentle with our order this time. Here is a breakdown of what we tried: Xiao Long Bao (小籠包 - Soup Dumplings): This is my daughter's favorite, so we ordered two baskets for her. They were executed beautifully. They were well-steamed on a clean sheet, and thankfully, there was no grayish blood seeping out of the meat. The wrapper (麵 皮) was right on the spot--not too hard or soft, not too thick or thin, and it didn't have that rubbery "chewing gum" or mushy "play dough" texture you get at lesser places. The pork filling tasted clean with no funky pork smell. Very nice. Beef and Tendon Noodle Soup: This was just okay, but to be fair, I don't expect a flawless bowl of beef noodle soup from a restaurant that doesn't strictly specialize in it (especially at a Dim Sum-focused spot). The broth was a bit plain and served lukewarm. The tendon, however, was well-cooked and well-marinated with a pleasant taste; it was a bit on the firmer side, which didn't bother me. The noodles were on the softer, sparser side rather than dense and chewy. I personally prefer a firmer noodle, but again, I can't complain too much given the venue. Spicy Tofu and Preserved Egg (麻辣皮蛋豆腐): I really liked this dish. The tofu had a fantastic, fresh soy taste, the preserved egg was delicious, and the chili oil and soy sauce dressing was perfectly balanced. If you are wondering what these "black eggs" are and feel a bit hesitant or concerned about trying them, I highly recommend giving them a shot here. This dish will easily fix those concerns! Overall, it was a great meal. I will definitely return, and next time we have the appetite, I'll dive deeper into the dishes they truly specialize in.

Ok so the food is super cheap.. BUT ALSO, THE FOOD WAS ACTUALLY IMPRESSIVE TOO???? NOT TOO OILY, NOT TOO SALTY, GOOD AMOUNT OF SPICY HEAT, fried food actually crunchy. I really appreciated all of the above. I know the food probably isn't healthy still, but I hate when restaurant food has a puddle of oil. The noodles were a bit stuck together because of the lack of oil. Maybe this is why the squid was so crunchy too? The guy serving us in the front said his mom was cooking in the back. She's like she really cares about her customers and making sure they eat a bit more healthy, and of course, tasty food. Each dish had a good mix of veg and meat. They are NOT stingy on meat or veg. We also got the mapo tofu and it was better than t&t. Again, another thing I liked was how the mapo tofu sauce wasn't loaded with starch. In fact, I don't think there was any (along with any sugar) because the sauce was all watery in texture. Flavour and spice was perfect. Something unique about it was that it had a bunch of green peas. I know some people don't like peas. Lol. Overall, this place is genuinely good which is surprising given the insanely low prices. The staff is really nice and chill. I highly reccomend this place for takeout if you're looking for something low-key at home. Ps. There's no seating inside. This is purely a Chinese takeout joint. They have chairs inside if you're waiting for your food.
