He confirmed that when the work was performed at my home without my authorization, his employees were very busy and a mistake was made in scheduling. I've been with Emerald Lawns for a little over a year. I've always trusted that when they do their lawn applications, the technician is on point and gets to all the nooks and crannies. Well, now that I'm working from home, I was able to see just how "stellar" of a job that the technician did. Yes, I do know that I have a small backyard, but it would still take more than two minutes to apply the fertilizer. I also didn't feel like he did that great of a job spraying. What shocked me the most was when I didn't see him fertilize the side of my house. I can see outside my side window while working, and I didn't even see him walk across the side of my house. It's hard to miss a person walking on my lawn. I see my neighbor going into his back yard all the time. I also didn't appreciate how the people I spoke to regarding this issue responded in a way that made it sound like I was lying to them. One of the managers, Buster, did call me back and will come in tomorrow to take a look at my lawn, but I still don't know if I can trust their work anymore. Earlier this summer the owner, Luke, sent out an email to clients asking us to help them with their business via referrals, but I don't think I can refer my friends to a company that does shoddy work. read more

It is refreshing to see a well managed organization. I received telephone confirmations the day before my lawn and shrub treatments. Telephone staff is courteous and professional. BEWARE of Duplicate Billing! I have an Invoice (#596374) dated July 17, 2018 from them that actually states on it that my account is "Paid In Full" for all services up to and including one that day (Lawn Application 5). The Owner, Mary Hawthorne, however claims there is an amount still due but has no documentation to substantiate her claim. I have tried to work with this company but to no avail. Rather than admitting they made an error in their accounting, they are now trying to collect an additional $58.46 for a service previously paid for per their own documentation. Lawn Service Canceled! We have been using emerald for two years. We were new to the area and had never had Bermuda grass. It's a little more susceptible to subtle changes in weather. We needed assistance and a company that would use products that would not harm our dogs. Scheduling with the dogs was an issue until Evette took control. She was able to regulate our appointments, guide us in our irrigation schedule and inform us of the turf issues we had. She was easy to work with, available when needed, and very knowledgeable. Nate is usually our Lawn Technician at Emerald Lawns. When he arrived last week for our lawn treatment, I decided to ask a few questions because the different types of grass in our front & back yards seemed to be struggling a bit. Before responding, Nate listened patiently as I asked a number of questions about the watering requirements for our types of grass. Nate's answers were clear, concise, and very helpful. During our conversation, it became obvious that Nate is both knowledgeable & enthusiastic (about sharing his knowledge). As a result of the information Nate provided, we've adjusted our watering regimen with very positive results. I have had Emerald Lawn service my lawn for several years. Today I had a new employee Brandon Epting come to my house. He called to advise he would be arriving shortly. I told him I would like to talk to him about some concerns I had. When he arrived we discussed my concerns and he was able to answer all my questions. When he advised me he was new I was shocked that he was so knowledgeable. He was a very pleasant, professional young man. He was very eager to get to work. Together with three other neighbors that I coordinated, we all hired Emerald Lawns to level our yards with sand this past spring. One of the neighbors and I contracted for front and back leveling and the other two neighbors because of the cost only had their front yards leveled. The results are still mixed on my front (2nd spring Emerald has leveled my front) I definitely was not happy with the back and called customer service to have someone come out and inspect their work. When the supervisor arrived he walked around the backyard and told me he thought his guys did a good job. I showed him numerous areas that should have been taken care of with the leveling. He finally agreed and marked a couple areas to have more sand installed. I suppose am pleased with the fact they sent someone out to look at it but the supervisor needs to learn the first rule in customer service; the customer is always right! I am revising my review. Aaron with Emerald Lawns, Customer Service called today and totally listened to my concerns and even asked me if I was happy with another service; organic top coat. Slow or non-existent communication. I called them back in March 2019 to schedule lawn aeration after receiving a mailer advertising a special. I was told that I'd be called back to discuss and schedule a date the following day. Two days later someone eventually called and attempted to "up-sell" services (e.g., add treatments and reoccurring lawn care) which I wasn't interested in. I was then told that I'd have to wait at least three weeks for the aeration. A few days later I received a call from another person that wanted to come out to verify my lawn sq. footage. I provided her with a rough estimate (less than 5000 sq.ft.) but she never did come by. I have no idea if their services are any good, but their scheduling and communication are horrible. I never heard a peep from Emerald Lawns again... read more

He noticed we have trouble spots on the side of our lawn and did some extra work for us there. We have used them for years & I have appreciated almost every tech they send. I have owned multiple homes over my life with irrigation systems. Moved into a new home about 4 years ago and have had two other irrigation companies here in Austin out. Both times I followed their advice and got poor results. This time i had Brad out with Emerald Lawns. He was thorough in his analysis of the system and took great pains to explain everything. Came up with a plan to fix the problem. He was out here to day and executed the repairs. Again taking the time to explain everything. This is truly a professional who takes great pride in what he does. He did not try to just sell me something. He only wanted to fix what was needed to solve the problem. Cancelled my agreement with them. After $1,300 and four month, my yard looked worse than when we started. Every time I expressed my concern that this wasn't working & that we needed to try something different, I only got lip service with no attempts to fix the problem. Save your money and go elsewhere! I am very disappointed in their service, especially in their customer service!  For starters, since they've been "treating" my yard it looks the same as it did before, if not worse and I have pictures to prove it. I'd often wonder if the technician actually did anything, because I couldn't tell the difference. After every treatment I'd call to let them know that I wasn't seeing any improvements; even after 14days,  my yard looked the same, with more weeds than before.  Furthermore, I'd called and cancelled the last treatment and the technician came out and did it anyways.  When I called and asked why someone came out when I specifically asked them not to, the young lady on the phone had no idea, but she reassured me that she did cancel the appointment.  I asked to speak to a manager to get to the bottom of this and to voice my overall dissatisfaction.  I've been waiting for that phone call since 5/18/21. Here it is 5/27/21 and not a peep from them. That was the last straw for me.  I'd rather spend my hard earned money on a company that understands the importance of customer service, instead of on one that ignores their clients. I guess I could check my security cameras around my house to see if the technician actually did any work on my property...but I shouldn't have to!  I paid for a service that should have been delivered! We've been using Emerald Lawns for a few years now. Before we hired them, we could not keep our yard green and weeds would just take over. We'd pull them up and the next day, they'd be back again. I swear our yard is one of the greenest and healthiest on the block now. If a weed even does pop up, Emerald Lawn is on it immediately. I cancelled after being charge $430.00 for 1.5 months of service. The service was for my front lawn, and it is small. Unfortunately, this company is dishonest, and their lawn products did not help my grass to grow. 1.They over-charged me. 2.My grass has not improved, after 3 months. 3. A manager came out to view the grass and told me that they wanted to have my neighbor's grass take over mine. That was their plan. 4. After many harassing calls, I had to point out to a manager the discrepancy of two of the service costs. Of course, the blown up fees were adjusted, the manager and made an attempt to apologize. At first their service was very good. They would treat if there was a problem and they would return sooner than the scheduled Visit to recheck. The lawn started looking bad and I called them to diagnose. They said they would be there in a few days it took them a week. Then they said we need aeration and topsoil didn't ring the doorbell left us a note saying we could check the email . No email was received I had to call for the email. Email stated we need topsoil and aeration. I found out later they do the service but didn't even suggest that in the email. Their service was stellar at the start but has degraded. I would not recommend this company to care for your lawn. read more

I had a lot of construction done around the house and it tore up my lawn. I called Emerald Lawns and they we're prompt to come out for an evaluation. Their no contract business is great, you can get just the services you need. I opted to get several services one of which was top dressing. My lawn is a steep slope and not easy to manage, everything has to be done by hand. Israel came to do the job and did a great job with a great attitude. I contacted Emerald Lawns about their leveling service for my front yard. They were quick to respond, inspected my yard and provided me a quote for $1,900.00 to provide the leveling service. I inquired with the sales person what i could expect upon completion, would i have a smooth yard? They responded that yes it would be so i decided to proceed. Upon completion, the leveling material (sand) was very inconsistent around the yard. Large areas which were not all that bad had volumes of sand and other areas had very little. It was obvious that once the sand had been dropped, very little if any distribution of the sand (spreading) was attempted if any. After my first mowing upon completion it was obvious that the leveling had accomplished nothing so i requested that someone come review the work completed. They sent a technician to review the yard. I was not at home at the time of inspection but he did call me while he was there and of course informed me that everything was fine which i disagreed with. He told me that the yard needed to have some rain on it to "distribute the sand" to the low areas. I thought that was what i had paid them for but agreed as rain was forecasted. Over the next couple of weeks we had received several inches of rain, so, if what that technician said was true, my yard should be much smoother. That was not the case! I once again called them and this time they sent out a manager to review my yard who i met at the house. I provided him pictures of the "completed" sand placement clearly showing how the product had been distributed. He did not acknowledge the sub-par work and stated that the yard would probably need another application. He did not say this, but i got the impression that he was saying that i would need to pay another $1,900.00 for an additional process. He took copies of the pictures and said he would get back with me. It has been over a week and i have not heard from him, or any other person at Emerald Lawns. My take away is that they misrepresented their work, they got into my yard, dumped a bunch of sand and got out of their as quick as possible, and management is not concerned about the promises made or the outcome and count on people just to forget and let it go. read more

I was a customer with Emerald Lawns for about 18 months. And my lawn has gotten worse with weeds during that time. See the attached pictures after my 18 months of Emerald care. Their typical excuse is that weedicides are not effective during certain times of the year. That is unacceptable when the commitment is to maintain a weed free lawn. Unacceptable when you have had 18 months to fix any problems. Unacceptable when you are paying so much money with them every year. The other frustrating aspect of Emerald lawns is that they take no accountability to keep the lawn weed free. They typical response is that the homeowner knows best and should take the initiative to call them every time you see weeds. If so, it is cheaper for me to have my lawn maintainers use weed killers based on my instruction. Originally, I was excited to use Emerald Lawns based on positive customer reviews, but I can see that the customer review has gone down significantly in the last year. Stay away. read more

I initially contacted Emerald Lawns because I had heard good things from neighbors about them. I signed up for several services for my lawn, as well as new mulch for my front flowerbeds. Israel and Enrique did an excellent job on the flowerbeds. They even removed the weeds, dead plants and dead parts of the lantana plants. My flowerbeds look so much better now! The top soil dressing was better than I had hoped and they were meticulous in their application. I cannot recommend them strongly enough. I've used them 3 times, aeration and topsoil x2, mulch x3. Prior to the last time, I would say they were average. Great job on the aeration and topsoil laying, but would miss a spot or two, nothing serious. Mulch was pretty when they finished. However, they have obviously hired a better group this yr. Carlos and John were detailed oriented. Completely cleaned up the old mulch. Laid down the ground cover perfectly. They were amazing. I don't have a straight lawn. Many curves, large and delicate designed sections. Beds everywhere. They made the final product look so good. But the final product always looked good, but the work and preparation put into this last job was the best this company has done. These guys wanted to do a good job, they didn't just rush in and out. They came in with an attitude of wanting to put their best forward. The job called for at least 4 workers. The company sent these two, it is a busy season, post snow storm. These guys did the job of 4 men. I saw the work and detail they both put into my job. I would recommend this company, but more importantly, I would recommend Carlos and John. Emerald Lawn now has a crew that makes their company shine. Simply IMPRESSIVE, both of them. p.s. There was another guy who came on last day, don't recall his name, but he was exceptional too. We needed an irrigation repair and didnt know who to call. Called several with no call backs at all. I then discovered that Emerald Lawns provides this service. Since we are long time customers, I gave them a call. They responded almost immediately with a quote and within a week Ryean came out and quickly and efficiently went over our entire system with recommendations for some option if we wanted to upgrade something to make our life easier and also to help save water usage. We declined as we are pretty happy right now with how things are working and with our water bill. We told him that one of our zones was not watering even though the controller said it was. He investigated and found the problem. He wrote up an estimate so that we could decide if we wanted him to fix. We signed the estimate and he had the part he needed on his truck and in about 15 minutes, everything was back to working beautifully. He is very knowledgeable and very easy to communicate with. I'm so glad I found out that Emerald Lawns had this service, and that alone makes our life so much easier. read more

Just fired these guys - why? Last time they treated my lawn, my yard was full of round brown spots of dead grass where they hand-treated the weeds. Since then, I have even more weeds in other places. They said I had to call them back out in order to get interim weed treatment - more dead grass circles? Nope. They get a 3-star rating because they are good at killing nut grass and overall the grass is nice and green. read more
