I just received a comment from this company to my review stating I was my own worst enemy. The company disconnected wire and then left that exposed wire buried under dirt they covered it up with. The Hunter Sprinkler Service team is HONEST, RELIABLE, and GREAT AT WHAT THEY DO. Could not be more pleased with the job these guys did!!! Matt and Alan were always prompt to reply (from the quote request, to installation questions, and beyond installation). The price was unbeatable in the area, and the quality of the install / service was unmatched. The guys came promptly on time for the install and they banged it out super quick and left the lawn looking great afterwards (I had expected it to be all torn up). After the install, Matt came by to walk me through every single one of my questions, as well as the intricacies of the Rachio app (which is unbelievably cool). He offered his recommendations on best watering practices and was patient through all my questions and concerns. They even accepted payment AFTER the install (a sign of mutual trust), which was refreshing because we had been burned by contractors before. I got bids from 3 different companies for a new installation. I chose Hunter due the fact that they had the best layout for my yard. The number of zones was more of what I expected. Plus, Matt was very professional and explained every detail. Being female, I usually get the little lady crap which will sink it every time. They came in with a reasonable quote also. I had one that actually made me laugh it was almost triple the first two. I guess they don't want any business lol. The install was seamless and address all my concerns. They trenched the yard put aside the grass they removed the first day. Second day they installed the lines then put the dirt back in and re-laid the grass. They were able to get the yard completed in two days. Day three my sprinkler system was up running. They did a great job putting everything back and cleaning up afterwards. Which is one of my gigantic pet peeves is contractors that don't clean up well. Matt came back to do a tutorial on the panel box and follow-up. I noticed a week later that some of the heads were spraying too hard gave them a call and the next day Don came and it was resolved. I am happy my plants are happy too. Someone told me to call Hunter Irrigation. I was extremely happy with them and had thought they knew what they were doing...I found out it's not! Their tech Steve Romano told me whoever put in this type of filter for lake water is an idiot. 8 months later I found out Hunter Irrigation Steve Romano is an idiot, all my lines are clogged. My lake pump guys laughed at Hunter Irrigation and called them moron. They refused to talk to new people/pump guys I've at the house investigation the situation and told me I didn't pay my invoice which is false. They pencil me in when I called them a May to fix my irrigation as I realized a zone was down. I cancelled on them as I wasn't able to be at the house. It's been raining like crazy in May/June/July so I decided to put it off until now. Almost all of my 26 zones are now down because its clogged. Do not contact these people...they lied a lot. Steve told me things that's not true! We found out why certain spots are always wet and its nothing to do with the terrane. read more

Three workers were sent to my home to inspect my sprinkler system. When I booked the service I understood that I would pay $99.00 to make sure all of my sprinklers were flowing correctly and adjustments would be made if needed. If anything was broken, there would be an additional charge. The workers looked at the system but they did not adjust anything. They recommended raising up 2 sprinklers; replacing an entire head on another; and replacing a head nozzle on another; at a cost of $49 for each repair. They also proposed replacing the pressure regulator for $700. The prices they charge for repairs are too high. They did replace a coupling in a drip irrigation tube, which took all of 30 seconds to do and they charged me $45 for this. Way too much! I was very disappointed and dissatisfied with the service this company provided. The prices they charge are very high. I do not recommend this company. read more

It started so well to end up so poorly. Our sprinkler system needed an upgrade. I saw all the 5-star reviews on Yelp and contacted Hunter. They responded and upgraded it. Then the controller failed, creating havoc with our new sod. They responded and went over the entire system They left, assuring me all was ok. Matt and Alan from Hunter Irrigation have gone WAY above and beyond with my new irrigation system. Long story short: I received quotes from over 10 companies (only highly rated businesses with a track record of excellence) and Hunter Irrigation was over 25% less than the next closest bid. In addition to the massive cost savings (over $1,000), they've come out every time I had a question or concern that I wanted them to take a look at. My wife and I put in a garden a week after having them out, and Matt/Alan (the owners) just left my house after putting in an add-on so that the potted hibiscus we included in the garden will get watered as part of the drip system for the rest of our flowers. No more hand watering the plants for me! Best of all - even though I offered to pay for this modification - Matt turned down my offer and said they'd do it free of charge. They didn't even charge for a service call. This is over three months after my initial install, and during one of their busiest times of the year. These guys care about their customers. They've gone above and beyond to make me happy, they installed a very efficient system (an important detail to me), they've been attentive to every question/concern I had LONG after they received final payment for the job, and I have the peace of mind of a three year parts/labor warranty which only one other competitor offered. I was hesitant to hire them for the job given the massive price difference, and even put Alan/Matt through the ringer pre-sale with a ton of questions to make sure I was getting the same quality system with them as I would with the other guys quoting $4,000+. In hindsight, my hesitation was completely unfounded. Hunter Irrigation has been outstanding all-around. I was referred to Hunter Sprinklers by a neighbor, but I checked Yelp too. Mostly good reviews, but a very recent negative. I noted that the recent neg had given 1's to all of his reviews, except his tattoo artist, so I ignored it. I'm glad I did. I read their blurb about being in the field a lot, and that text or email was the best way to reach them. I hit the "request a quote" button and told them what I needed, and had a reply within minutes along with a number to call if I wanted to make an appointment. I called the number, and was told they could come out first thing the next morning. That was this morning, and Fish (yep, really) showed up on time and ready to go. He got the entire system checked, repaired what was broken, and reprogrammed for optimal watering based on the city's required watering days. And he did it all in barely an hour, for the price I was quoted. As you can imagine, I am very pleased with this company and will use them again for my annual check ups and for whatever else comes up with my sprinkler system. read more

We called Hunter Irrigation because they seemed to have gotten great reviews. We needed someone to come out and service our system. It took a few days to get a call back but we understood because it was spring and they were probably busy. After getting the call back we set an appointment with Calvin to come out and give us an estimate for the repairs and tune up. When Calvin came out he asked how we found them and we told him "on the internet". Calvin said "Yeah, we got one bad review but that person was a difficult customer". Calvin gave us an estimate and set an appointment for the following Monday. Me and my wife had to adjust our work schedules so we could be there while they worked on the system. They were a no show!!! We called Calvin two or three times with no call back to let us know what was going on. Finally I spoke with Matt who said he didn't understand why they didn't show up but he would call Calvin and then call me back. Nope, that never happened either. Two days later and no call back from anyone. If this was the start of how the customer service was going to be I guess we lucked out. I just wish they would have at least told us that they didn't want to do the job before we took off work to accommodate them. Needless to say I won't be calling them back and hope that no one else does. read more

I am so impressed by this company, my neighbors used another company that just trenched the lines in killing the grass and leaving rocks. Hunter came out carefully removed sod. They removed all the rocks back filled the trenches areas and put Sod back in place. I was working at another location and they completed the job while I was working. Even my neighbors were impressed with such a clean job. They came out the very next day, set up the App named all the zones what I specified, went through how to drain sprinklers in the event of a hard freeze. Let me know not do any aeration where the drip lines are. These guys do all the permits and follow code to the letter. They have a three year warranty and let me know if I need anything or have questions I can call. If you want A DIY guy hire someone else if you want the professionals hire these people. I won't recommend any else, you won't be sorry. 7 days in everything works great even the Zosia grass is springing right back. A little trouble with the Bermuda recovering but the builders put it in, but it's still hanging on in the majority of places. read more

He checked my sprinkler system, got my rain sensor working, repaired a broken sprinkler head and repaired my veggie garden drip hose all in under 1hour, exactly what they quoted me on the phone. I tried to do business with these guys, but after being stood up at a location for an appointment between 8:30 and 9:30 Saturday morning. I think I will reconsider. Love it when a vendor wastes a good part of my Saturday morning. As a side note I did get a call at 9:45 asking for directions because the address would not map quest. Which tells me: 1. They are not well organized. (I told the scheduling person that the address was not in Google or MapQuest, and gave detailed directions). 2. They most likely aren't that punctual (if you are just looking up the address at 9:45 for a 8:30-9:30 meeting you are in my opinion 30 minutes behind) 3. Not respectfully of the time value of other. (when i have a 8:30 meeting, assuming I do not have an earlier meeting, I am there minimum 15min ahead). These guys came highly recommended, may be an off day for them, I just don't do business with people who cannot respect my time. read more

I outfitted my entire 4 zone system with 28 Hunter MP rotators, and 3 years in, almost all of them have either stopped rotating, or slowed down to a crawl. The pressure is correct and I have checked the filters regularly (and never found any debris)... they are just no good. I fell for the nonsense about "water saver"... not stopping to think that I could have reduced the time and got the same affect. I am now switching out to rainbird rotators. Three neighbors installed them around the same time and ever head is still operating like new. read more

We called and made an appointment for Hunter Irrigation Services to come out and look at our system. we were not advised of any fee that would be incurred with this visit. I also believed the business card which said in capital letters "FREE ESTIMATES". The technician came out, looked at our system, gave us an estimate, and then proceeded to charge us $99. So much for the free estimate. We will have no choice but to refuse service from them, since the business relationship was starting right off with dishonesty. Find someone else. read more

When they came out, they were able to isolate, identify and fix the issue within 5 minutes. I was super impressed with the level of service and the attention to detail. Can I give them a negative star?? Worst customer service I have EVER dealt with!! Between the original builder's incompetent irrigation crews and installing a pool in our backyard, our sprinkler system had become a nightmare. Not good coverage, inefficient heads, zones coming on when they shouldn't, and even a live sprinkler head under the slab! So, I called Hunter Sprinklers to have them come out to give me an idea of what it would take to get all of my irrigation issues corrected, how long it might take and how much it might cost. You know, like an "estimate". They guy they sent out ("Fish") was rude, complaining about us asking for an estimate when he's an "$89 an hour man." He literally told us "I can't tell you whether it will take 3 hours or 3 days". What?? You can't get any closer than that with your estimate, and you expect me to pay you $89 an hour? After we told him "thanks for your time", he proceeded to yell at my wife in front of our neighbors. (He was a real impression on our neighbors, as well. One came by to check on us later to make sure we were ok). He treated us with total disrespect, acted like he was being inconvenienced to be at our home, and that he was doing us a favor by even getting out of his truck to look at our back yard and talk to us. This was the worst customer treatment I have ever received from ANY service company in my 56 years. And to top it all off, I called the office to speak with someone who *might* care that they have such a completely rude person representing them in the field. I was told that the owner of the company ("Bob") would give me a call. Bob has not called back, so I would assume either he doesn't care what type of employees he has or that he has the same lack of customer care that Fish does. Either way, STAY AWAY from these guys. Matt took his time to explain how the system works and they tied my existing veggie garden drip system into controls. Back in May , we had a very difficult situation where my mother's house began leaking massive water from a hidden buried valve. The flooding was bad and I called around 5-6 places and being the summer start no one could come out for days and the water shutoff was also hidden. We were in emergency mode for sure. Bob agreed to come out in between his busy job schedule and was just amazing. He traced the wires to the fault and quickly got us fixed up with the valves. I bought my house in Leander in 2007. I believe it was Allan that I dealt with but I could be wrong. They installed front and back yard, 11 zones, all for a reasonable price. During the first year I sabotaged a couple sprinkler heads with my edger and lawn mower. I called them up and asked them to fix them and let me know what I owe. They came out and fixed them for no charge. I annihilated another head the following year and same thing, came out and fixed it, no bill. I would recommend them, as they have taken care of my well past any obligation. read more

Yes, Matt did come out after I had emailed the office twice, with no response, and then messaged him directly. That was after my first review. The system works fine. I just felt like AFTER I paid them for the initial project, it was more of a hassle for them to assist me. I would have gladly paid for any non- warranty issues had I been instructed to do so. We had one repair done under warranty when I bone-headed out and ran a bubbler over with my lawnmower. I insisted on paying for the bubbler repair, but they declined. Wow!
