Frustrated, needed weed application and aeration ASAP and received a a scanned copy of quote which was ineligible so I replied via email requesting confirmation of pricing and when I could expect my first service. No reply via email, field agent advised to call office, office advised to talk to field agent, field agent then advised "they don't work that way". I was a customer of Emerald Lawns for over four years. This year, however, the service was so bad that I cancelled our service. Repeated phone calls to say that there was a major weed problem in our back yard, but not the front, did not get results. After several complaints, I was told that we had had a bad technician who was no longer with the company. I would have thought Emerald Lawns would want to make things right and get the weeds that had not been treated properly under control. That did not happen. I have used Emerald for several years. I had dead spots in my front lawn due to them applying too much weed killer. They corrected the problem by adding new sod in the spots. Although the sod they added is still a little brown, it looks so much better then the dead spots that were there. So thank you Emerald for that! My issue is with the back yard. Around the first of February they put new St.Augustine sod in the back--costing $500+ for a very small area. It looked great for a couple of months. Now I have little to no grass there. I was told it was too much water( can't control the rain), another tech told me it was a fungus and put down peat moss (another $35). No change--in fact looked worse. Then the same tech came back and told me it looked stressed and I needed more water. Another tech said it was too much shade and suggested I cut down my pear tree. The tree has been there 30 years. I find it interesting that the parts of the lawn that get sun have no grass either. Another tech said I should have used a shade tolerant grass. I'm a 74 year old widow--what do I know about grass. I did what I was told by the "experts". The last supervisor that came out offered no remedy but said he would be interested in seeing what happens if and when I cut down the tree. One of them even suggested a get some rye seed and spread it around. Not sure what the remedy is and unfortunately I'm not sure they do either. All I know is that I can't afford to spend much more. Got a quote over a week ago. The rep relayed back all the work he was going to do and that we would be in constant communication. He stated he would put the quote together and send it to me. I have yet to hear back, then a different person showed up to do work and the invoice wasn't right and I never even knew anyone was coming. I assumed no one was coming since I never heard back from the rep. I agree this company is a hit and miss for service. read more

I had a flyer on my door and they came out did an estimate on my lawn. When I called to verify the amount they stated oh yes it is for the price we quoted you. Much to my suprise they came out and then they doubled the price instead of what I had allocated on my budget of no more than 100.00. I got stuck with $176.00 for the grub maiteance, Lawn application and Aeration for the lawn. If I had knowing that all this was going to that much money I would never have contracted them. When I called to verify they were less than helpful and understanding. I will never use their services again. This is a rip off. read more

Love them for the $59 special for aeration so gave them a shot for our fertilizing needs. My neighbor and I "compete" for the best yard on the block and this year I decided to give Emerald a chance. I've always been a fan of plain old turf builder and grubex. This formula has worked well for may years, but in order to free up time and trips to the big box store, we gave Emerald a shot. The yard looks ok, but is thin and with the amount of rain this year, should look much better. The staff is nice and they show up on scheduled days, just expected more. read more

I initially bought a Groupon for an aeration but after they came by & gave me a quote to take over fertilizing & weed control I signed up. The service is very affordable & I don't gave to guess which product to apply & when to do it. My yard has never looked better! I constantly have neighbors asking me what I am doing to my lawn. However there "Tree/Shrub" treatments are ineffective. They've been treating my property since the beginning of the year, and I have a couple of trees dying. When I stopped their last treatment and asked about previous calls into technician about treatments. They both had nothing constructive to provide. Critical: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness I started lawn service with Emerald Lawns after being solicited at my home by their employee Sergio. After giving me the Emerald Lawns sales pitch to include which supposedly is their promise, 'We promise you will love your lawn.' and their guarantee, '100% Satisfaction Guarantee', I believed that the company was committed to both customer service and quality service as well as being committed to their promise and guarantee so I proceeded with having Emerald Lawns servicing my lawn needs. Trust me and the rest of the lowest rated reviews, this company's quality of service, professionalism in customer service, responsiveness to customers among other concerns need to be considered prior to moving forward with services from Emerald Lawns. Emerald Lawns started our agreed lawn treatments which I was told would ensure in quick positive results but if it didn't to call Sergio and he would come out immediately to take care of my concerns. After getting the lawn service and still having weeds sprout and not seeing the lawn getting healthier, I called Sergio and though he returned, it was not prompt as stated. My biggest problem and concern with the company was that they were more interested in getting my money than honoring their commitment to quality of service, professionalism in customer service, responsiveness to customers and my other concerns. Which as discussed with Sergio, when the services that Emerald Lawns has committed to, promised and guaranteed have been provided that my payments for the services promised and guaranteed will be rendered. Due to Emerald Lawns not providing any results as promised and guaranteed, they stopped coming to my home without any notice but still leaving me with weeds sprouting and an unhealthy lawn which was to have been eradicated from tuft damaging pest. But yet, as stated, their concern is more about getting paid for services that were promised and guaranteed but yet they did not keep and deliver and getting paid for the services they were not able to render. It was so much about the money that Emerald Lawns had the audacity to send what they wanted to bill me, which was not much, to a collection company rather than ensure that they kept their promise and honored their guarantee. After I received a collection notice I immediately called the collection agency and informed them that I will be disputing this collection and why I was disputing the matter. I then proceeded to call Emerald Lawns and spoke with Brook, who was extremely condescending and just wanted for me to pay them money before anyone would speak with me. Not believing what I was informed by Brook I asked to speak with a supervisor regarding this matter. Brook put me on hold and spoke with a supervisor. Brook then came back on the line and informed me that the supervisor which according to Brook was named Eileen would not speak with me unless I paid them and if not then to deal with the collection company. This is not a company that believes in customer service and 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. A company with any pride in itself will no matter what the situation is will ensure that management communicates with any individual that has an issue or concern. But yet as Brook also informed me, pay us and we will speak with you. This company should be embarrassed for their actions. As I stated, trust me and the rest of the lowest rated reviews, this company's quality of service, professionalism in customer service, responsiveness to customers among other concerns need to be considered prior to moving forward with services from Emerald Lawns. By the way, any company that truly had pride in themselves would ensure that on their website the reviews would reflect all reviews posted. But not Emerald Lawns, a person has to read the honest reviews through Goggle Reviews in order to read unbiased and objective reviews. Also do your research on how a company could ensure a positive BBB rating. My promise and guarantee to Emerald Lawns is that I will ensure to dispute this matter to the end. I know that I make good on services rendered. In response to Aaron's reply on May 7: Aaron, I received 4 services between 2 properties which actually was 2 services per properties that did not result in any positive results as promised and guaranteed by Emerald Lawns. Even after calling your employee, Sergio, no response from the company. When contacting Emerald Lawns directly Emerald Lawns wanted me to pay for services that they did not deliver on per what I was told which was a weed free lawn, tuft damaging pest free lawn and a healthy lawn. As it is obvious from your other reviewers it is all about Emerald Lawns getting the consumers money than providing results for the money. Even those that pay in advance for services from Emerald Lawns they do not get what they paid for. You can keep this in collections and I will continue to dispute it. As many before have said we tried them initially with a groupon this past year. Our home is only two years old and since we negotiated sod in our backyard as part of deal for the house, we knew they didn't put down the best sod. Last summer we had many brown spots in our yard, as well as hidden weeds that it was hard to even get to. The only time the lawn looked good was in late spring on the day it was cut. Than we hired Emerald. We have had a few different applications for awhile now and the lawn is one of the nicest in the neighborhood. They are so easy to work with, if you think the lawn needs re treatment, they will come out no questions asked. If anyone asks us who to trust your lawn to, its not one of the big names...its Emerald. read more

They have treated my lawn about 5 times and I do not see any positive results. We still have weeds and there are still empty spots in our lawn, so the aeration, fertilization and weed-treating has not helped. Disappointed. read more

They use top of the line products that are available in the market and I can really endorse that. The problem is their technicians not doing the right thing. They claim they serviced or fertilized or *spot treated for weeds*. I spotted them doing nothing in the yard and when I questioned them, they started running around bushes explaining me how they did A and then B and C. Truth is they did not fertilize my yard very well. They never spot treated which their service request receipt or paper claimed. As a result, I have brown patches and weed in my yard. Did everything they recommended to do. I mow once every 6 days and between 1.25 - 1.5". Increased my water cycles. But nothing looks to be working. One of their managers visited my property and convinced me that I need to get aeration done (double pass aka $135 more) which I agreed for because I want to see a lush green yard. But speaking to a few experts and reading online, aeration wont help my yard. He claimed my yard is not getting enough water which is also incorrect. It is getting 1 inch of water as recommended by them(I did a funnel test). Bottom line, Yard wasn't fertilized properly. I see people apply same products (DIY project) and their yard is green which makes me feel that Emerald lawns did not do their job sincerely. Their customer service people don't even answer phone calls now. I prepaid for the entire year and now I am unhappy with their service. Everything was guaranteed before signing up for the service and now all they have is excuses for the brown patches and weeds. At this point, I just want my money back. Will try another company. I think if they would have continued to do what they were doing during first 2 services, my yard would have been green and survived summer. After being a customer for years, It's finally time to move on. I've had hit or miss service with their weed treatment (or lack there of). The final nail in the coffin came when their "customer resolution" specialist, Yvette, came out to our house and literally laughed at our trees and sprinkler system. I'll admit the trees aren't great but the sprinkler system is actually pretty nice. Either way, not the point. What kind of a company sends someone out to resolve a customer service issue and that person not only doesn't acknowledge the issue but also makes fun of your property?? Additionally, she was only interested in up-selling us with an aeration service. Even after this we were willing to give them another chance to resolve the weed issue. I was told that someone would be out by Monday or Tuesday... no one called, no one showed. I can't, in good conscience, stay with Emerald at this point. I have had emerald lawn service for approximately one year. My backyard, which is the portion of my lawn I used their service for is approximately 1/4 of an acre. My grass has thinned and died off while have used their service. My yard has been invaded by numerous weeds and crab grass. When I called to complain about these issues their representative blamed this issue on me. Do not waste your time and especially your money on emerald lawn service. read more

Love love love these guys! Not only did they get rid of my nasty grass bug problem, the brought my entire landscape back to life! I was "that" house in my neighborhood with the brown grass and bald spots. I've been using these guys now for two years and they come all the way down to South Austin at no additional charge to make my yard beautiful. They always call ahead to let me know when they will be on site. And if I'm not here, they take great card of my yard. Oh, they also helped me with a hole in my fence. Such great guys! Thanks y'all! If you decide to use Emerald Lawns, DO NOT pay in advance for multiple treatments! If you decide to cancel service you will not get refunded unless you call and email multiple times. They will say "that person isn't in right now but they will get back to you". It is obvious that they don't have enough technicians or can't keep enough technicians. It is always two weeks before they can get to you. If you need a retreatment they are just going to wait till the next treatment and bill you for it. They are very quick when it comes to getting you an estimate for new service. Don't be fooled. We had signed up for their mosquito treatment and lawn care service. For the mosquito treatments we had 4 of the pots they use. After the first couple of days of the first treatment the mosquitos were knocked back pretty good. I believe this was because of the spray they do along with the pots. After day 4-5 the mosquitos were back with a vengeance. I called and they said it takes a couple of weeks before the plan really starts to work. 2 weeks later it was worse and I called back and they said they would come out for a retreatment but they couldn't get out there for almost 2 weeks. We scheduled it and they came out and retreated. I got two bills though that day one for $0 for retreatment and one for the regular treatment price as well. I called and they said since it was so close to when they typically would come out they just did the regular treatment. Hmmm. I didn't think that was right but I just wanted the mosquitos gone. After a week I still had crazy amounts of mosquitos. So I canceled the plan. It took them over a month to issue a refund. The story doesn't end there.... I also had them doing my lawn care. I continued on with the lawn care even though I had to call them to come clean up a huge pile of fertilizer they spilled on my driveway and yard on their first visit. Well the service didn't get any better... this past application I watched the technician apply fertilizer on only about 1/4-1/3 of my yard. I was one a conference call when I witnessed it but went back and reviewed my security cameras to make sure I didn't miss him applying it when I wasn't watching. Nope he went around the perimeter and sporadically covered some small areas but there was no pattern that he followed to make sure he covered everything. I canceled my service that day and asked for a refund. 9 days later I got an email and a call offering me 50% off my next service. Still no refund. I hate posting negative reviews but I used these same reviews to make my decision to use Emerald Lawns and I want anyone looking to know how my experience was with Emerald Lawns and they can then make their own decision from there. read more

If no stars were possible, there would not be a one star on this review. AVOID THIS COMPANY! I was billed for a service they did not provide. I know the service was not done because I happened to be home when the tech came and I saw what he did and DID NOT do. When I called Emerald Lawns on it, I was first given conflicting stories (one scenario came from the owner no less). Emerald Lawns never took ownership of the situation but did promise to have a technician at my home by 7:30 this morning to apply the billed treatment. The technician was a no show. I called Emerald Lawns and was given more excuses and run-a-rounds. Needless to say, I terminated my service agreement with Emerald Lawns. Again I say, AVOID THIS COMPANY!! The following is in response to a reply Emerald Lawns posted on my review: Thank you for your email, Mary. However, the conflicting stories continue. I never met with Jerry at my home. If he came to my home, I never saw him. I did my own yard for years and know fertilizer when I see it. There was none. As far as unpredictable traffic, this is Austin and I drive it Monday through Friday. That's why when I know I have a commitment to fulfill or a place to be at a certain time, I make sure I leave early enough to be there on time even if it means getting there an hour ahead of time. Two Words: Emerald Lawns I had a backyard makeover, replacing my "dirt" backyard with Zoysia turf sod along with rock landscape and drains. My HOA mows my backyard , but they do not "treat" it. I asked my high end landscape design team who I could trust to maintain there product, and they confidently said Emerald Lawn with no hesitation. Boy, were they right! I reached out to Emerald Lawns and Bobby was at my house within 24 hours for an " in person" estimate, offering me a ton of advice. I also requested the call the night before so that if I am home I can be present and view the professional care that they provide. On 3/29/2014, I wrote a review of Emerald. Due to several facts I will go into below, I'd like to revise my review. In fact, the owner, Luke,with whom I first set up service several years ago, came out and, thanks to his visit, has agreed that our lawn wasn't in the shape he expects from his company and offered us several solutions. I do want to be clear that the problem was not caused by Emerald, although we both agreed that the problems should have been brought to our attention. Solutions, when Luke came to our home, were provided. I appreciate Luke's visit very much and look forward, once we get our lawn replaced, to using Emerald, again. I also believe that the customer service problem I encountered is one that I better understand and will be taken care of and I also believe the quality of service Emerald provides when we return to using them will be as it was initially which was great. Luke wasn't any happier than we were to see that we hadn't been alerted to the dying grass but his solutions offered were fair and we will be happy to use them again. And, again, the dying grass was not the fault of Emerald. read more

I originally had about 30-40% of my lawn covered in weeds, and now I have one of the nicer (greener!) lawns in my neighborhood. Don't use this business! We called for a quote on aeration service early this year, and didn't ask them to do it for us, just wanted to know the price. But to our surprise, they came did the aeration the week after that without our permission, and sent us the bill. Later we found out, they punched tons of holes in our dripping system pipes when they did the aeration. we had to call the sprinkler company to fix it, guess what, it cost us $500 to get it fixed.
