I showed up at Salon Bella Mia, with pretty low expectations, and was I ever wrong. This place is amazing. All of the stylists and the owner were all so warm and helpful. I can't express the instant bond and trust that was created with Brenda. I showed her two different looks I was thinking about and she steered me towards the one she knew would work best with my hair in the condition it was in. After spending time with her, she is a great new friend. I was there for a while and when the ladies were planning their lunch, they included me. I have NEVER had anyone that worked in a salon do that. Sure they all offer coffee and water, but these ladies went the extra mile. Yes, I will go back. Yes, I would recommend this shop because my hair looks and feels wonderful. I believe I have found my hair home...and possibly next time I will schedule a massage and get my nails done.

It's a little on the smaller side, but I'm a fan of that! It was very quiet when I went, as it was Wednesday morning. The decor is nice, clean, and sleek, the the owner (I think her name is Julea) was nice and welcoming. I don't know if it is always the case, but the owner's dog was in the salon while I was there. It wasn't an issue for me (if anything it made me happy to see a cute dog), and she was very well behaved, but if you have allergies you might want to be prepared for that. Hair straightening treatments are also performed in that section of the business. Spa services are offered upstairs in the original portion of the salon. The business now occupies one entire section of the U shaped Church Point Commons. Located on the east side of Pleasure House Road, just south of its intersection with Northampton Boulevard, the Commons sits on the north side of the entrance to Thoroughgood neighborhood. Entrances are located on Pleasure House Road & Thoroughgood Square, The salon is spacious with a nice layout. Opposite the check-in desk are displays of hair products and accessories. Just beyond the check-in desk is a comfortable sitting area. You are offered your chance of a beverage, including wine. Depending on services being performed your stylist may ask you to change into a salon robe, which hang in the meticulously clean bathroom. Robes are available in different sizes and include both snap and tie closings. Dupre's has been my salon of choice since they opened decades ago. When the stylist I first used left with her military spouse for the west coast, she recommended Jaime who I love. She's receptive to my preferences regarding length style & coloring. When the grey in my hair stopped taking coloring we did a trial run with no coloring. I've kept it natural for years. She was receptive to my need for appointments during the pandemic when the salon was lightly booked. Once she booked an appointment on the Tousle side for my safety. We've tried several times of hair straightening treatments over the years, which began to not be effective because of the consistency of gray hair. I would love to still have my Farrah Fawcett hair of the 70's & 80's but it's no longer possible. Jaime has been an enormous help during the hair transition over time. I've had eyebrow waxing, but none of the other Spa services. My sister always books facials & massages when she visits from Alabama. The most popular stylists are booked heavily, especially before holidays. Jaime always finds a way to get my sister into her schedule when she's here for a cut & color. A cool feature is a hair washing & blow out done by stylists assistants. I utilized this feature several times a week when I had a dislocated elbow. My late husband didn't handle the chore very well. Counter personnel & the stylist assistants are always friendly & personable. Reminder calls & email are sent before appointments. Prices aren't low. But you get what you pay for. Dupre's is my Salon for life.

I brought in a light blonde wig & asked to turn my virgin dark blonde hair the exact same color,…read moreminus the rooting. Mackenzie -- who was very sweet during my appointment -- told me that this would be possible to achieve in one session. I remember expressing surprise and asking her if she was sure, because I had always heard that it was hard to get to such a light color, but she assured me it would only take one session. To the left of the blonde wig is my real hair, AFTER being dyed and it's pretty clear it doesn't resemble what I asked for. Not only is it still several shades darker (practically still the same exact shade as my natural hair), she added these stark highlights that I didn't ask for and aren't present on the wig. To make matters worse, my hair feels terrible after I wash it; I'm not sure how my hair got so damaged in just one session when it wasn't even that dark to begin with and had never been chemically processed before. The owner then told me (through a third party) that it would take several sessions to get my hair as light as the wig, that I'd have to pay for these additional sessions, and that this was communicated to me during my consultation. I really hate to put anyone on blast, especially as Mackenzie was very nice to me, but that is just not what she told me during the consultation. They did offer to add more highlights and tone it for free, but that it still would not be the color I had asked for. I don't understand the point of adding more highlights (and further damaging my hair), to still not have it look the way I had asked for. Had I known beforehand that it would take several sessions and cost significantly more than what I had been quoted, I would not have gone through with it. I asked for a refund instead and they said no, so unfortunately I'm pursuing a charge back on my card instead. I would be very wary of having your hair done here, as they couldn't give me what I asked for, even with a 3D replica at their disposal, and then refused to make things right when they messed up. I'm not even mad, just disappointed. *EDIT* - Jay, unfortunately, Mackenzie was dishonest with you, as my request never changed from the consult to the appointment. I was also never told that it would take multiple sessions to achieve the color I wanted until AFTER my hair had already been dyed with unsatisfactory results.

From the start the experience felt a little confusing. When we arrived nothing was explained to us. We signed a paper and were simply gestured toward the chairs. During the scalp analysis they quickly ran the tool through your hair but didn't explain what they were seeing, only mentioned I had a few flakes in the back. I was told over the phone that my sister and I would have our messages together which I later found out that meant at the same time but in separate rooms. This wasn't what I expected. The massage for myself was just ok but not what I asked for. I requested medium pressure and the woman was extremely light to point that I barely felt it sometimes mainly on my shoulders, neck, and arms. Think of a feather being glided on your skin. She was a soft medium on my scalp. In the end they're supposed to blow dry your hair but neither my girl or my sisters were fully dried. We ended up walking out in the freezing cold with wet hair which I wasn't too happy about because I had told my girl earlier that I had a treatment on my hair a few months back that if left wet creates a negative smell so it must be completely dried. She had told me this wouldn't be an issue. When my girl tried to show me my scalp in the end, the machine kept turning off and she just said she was sorry and it was already acting up earlier in the day. So who knows the results. I would probably say I would have given a 2 out of 5 based on my own experience but I'm giving it a 3 since my sister truly enjoyed her message and the woman who worked on her did a great job.

So that was weird. We proceeded to the back and that's where the relaxing begins. It's a private space, calming music and the sound of water. The blue mood light puts you into an instance tranquility. You're able to pick your own scent that they will use on your scalp. The massage was good but it just felt like it was just a good scalp cleaning you can get from your hair stylist. Not one I would say is a stress reliever, but everyone is different. Afterwards, they will dry your hair with a Dyson hair dryer. I have wavy hair, so I didn't get this done as I air dry anyways. From beginning to end was 45 minutes, so I didn't really get 60 minutes service. Maybe that includes undressing and dressing?? Don't know... The staff were super friendly and helpful. They did mentioned they will be opening a 2nd location soon somewhere near Chesapeake/Virginia Beach boarder.

First time with this company…read more Scheduling was easy and accommodating. I called on a bad weather day Saturday and they were open! Arrival. Facility was neat and clean and was greeted immediately and all staff was friendly! Consultation. Nat provided my service. It was a bit rough to get what I wanted at first. The young lady who greeted me and initiated the appointment told me my request for "Cutie" will NOT look good which I found odd as this is my go to at other salons. I took to that red flag and asked for her recommendation because obviously she was limited to what she can make 'look good'. When I begin to ask important questions to narrow down what would be applied, she keep telling me 'no'. Anther employee came from the back and addressed my concerns which all turned out to be a "yes." Application (80pc, Natural, premium silk). I did ask the Tech how long she had been doing this and Nat said 5 months. I suppose the reason for the inconsistency resulted. Left eye dose not have nearly as many lashes than the right. Right eye is inconsistently full with exception of the inner corner we're there are noticeably only a few. I will go back once more and try a new tech to see if I can get better results. They don't look crazy at least! However, I know I can get better work done.
