Updating my original review. I came in for a pedicure.. I opted for just a basic pedicure with gel because I really didn't have the time for anything more than that. $49 bucks... I can go anywhere else and get the same basic pedicure for less than that. For one, the water wasn't even that warm and 2, two, all he did was put hot towels on my legs for a little while. What was that $49 for? Welp, I paid what was due and tipped of course but I will not be back here. If I'm spending $50+ or more on a pedicure, it'd be nice to at least get some sort of massage with it. Im sad because I really did like this place. Total let down read more

The pedicure was good, but the cleanliness (or lack thereof) skeeved me out. I didn't see them clean the tools they used (that they just used on someone else) and I don't think the foot bath got a cleaning either. I get time are hard because on COVID, but if I'm spending my money I expect to leave better than when I walked in. Today's experience was the 2nd chance for The Nail Place to redeem themselves after a rushed & sloppy pedicure a few months back. I arrived with my two children (both under 10) and asked for mani-pedi for the three of us as a special treat. While my daughter did get a nice result (both gels) and my son came out with shaped & cleaned nails (no polish), my pedicure was nice but the paint (gel) was globbed in some areas, thinly varnished in other, AND (here's what really chaps my ass... ) my $175 bill DID NOT include my gel manicure? I asked the prices after realizing that they had zero intention of doing my manicure (okay, maybe i was unclear and they REALLY thought that only my kids get manicures.) and received a stumbled response of quick math that essentially put my daughter's mani-pedi at $100, my son's at $35 and me w/o even a manicure. I feel like an idiot for giving this place another chance. If you DO go here, make sure you have them review the prices before they start -- ya might want to head to the one of the million other nail salons in this area instead. read more

This was the worst Pedi/Mani I have ever had. the shallac polish is all over my toes and raised up in areas. he kept saying how good the black looked and then when I pointed out the issues he said he would just put another coat on. leaving here and going somewhere else to get my second pedicure of the day.... and he charged me for it. read more

I am one to find the positives in everything, but this morning's nail appointment had none. Worse manicure ever. I had my acrylics taken off because of allergy reasons (fingers swelling, skin pealing). The guy hurt me so bad, I started bleeding on one nail....enough that he had to put stuff on it to get it to stop. He used a tip to try to remove the nail, then he put it back in with the rest of them. EEWWW, there was blood on there! He proceeded to put dip powder on, I told him I wanted round shape, instead a got a little of everything. Some are rounded on one side, slightly pointy on the other. I came here last week and received a great job even though I was overcharged BC of the prices in the book were differ than what was given to me. I didn't say a word, paid what I was owed, thanked her and left. I took my daughter here the day before her bday for a pedi, the book states $20 for a kids pedicure. But, before they even serviced us they gave us a price of $29. My problem is DON'T EVER PLAY ME! U did it once, but I won't be a fool again. MY 10 YR should not be charged $30 for a pedicure! The money isn't the problem! It's the insult! If the prices in the book differ BC of age, that should be stated in the book! read more

Came in today which I was thankful since most places have to have an appointment for Sunday's. The massage was great but when it was time for the paint job she rush didn't paint my entire nail and the paint job was awful. I requested my Toes to be redone again and they did I instead went with a French tip vs full pink nails (since I think the paint was old and the tech wasn't the best at painting.) another tech came fixed some of the other techs work and painted white tips. There was about 3 works and they processed to talk about my request which whatever but make sure you talk to the tech who rushed and did a half ass job!!! The massage was great she was sweet just not good at the finish. The new tech just finished and the color is grey not shinny. Does look 1/2 decent outside will just put another clear coat at home to make it shinny read more

Update: just watched the nail tech use the foot grater that he just used in me on the lady next to me. He didn't even rinse it first. RUN. Came in with a friend on a Sunday afternoon. I asked if they had time to do two spa pedis. They said sure. Just a few minutes. They were not even that busy! We sat in the pedi seats for nearly an hour. They acted like they were doing us a favor. Non-communicative. Poor customer service. The pedi itself was half assed. He was clearly not even trying. He kept looking at his phone and skipping steps. I'm not one to leave bad reviews, but I feel this is doing a service for customers looking for a good and sanitary experience. The first time I went, Chelsea did acrylics for me and they were fabulous. I loved it and thought this would be my new go to place. After my second experience, however, you couldn't pay me to return. I walked in to a busy salon and saw a worker sitting in a pedicure chair eating chips. When she saw I was waiting to be helped, she LICKED THE CRUMBS OFF HER FINGERS AND PROCEEDED TO START MY NAILS... WITHOUT WASHING HER HANDS. As she was removing my acrylics, she also ripped off pieces of my real nail, to the point that I was whimpering in pain. I had asked for a regular polish manicure after having them removed, and she rushed the job and they looked horrible and sloppy. I could've done a better job at home. And I payed $45. While Chelsea is great as many reviews state, I wouldn't recommend anyone else at this salon. And the fact that no management paid attention to this workers actions concerns me. I have to say...Bee is awesome! I hope this review helps boost the business. I've only been there twice but I went back because of her. She may seem strict with the shellac BUT it's because she takes pride in her work and does an excellent job. I've had a shellac French manicure lasted long and looked so pretty Pedicure by Bee --very nice! She took her time and made me Vegas ready! Eyebrows- excellent! I found this gem when I got turned away from another nail salon for it being 4:15 and closing at 5. This place closes at 5 too but they were more than happy to take me anyway and I'm so happy they did!! Super clean and really beautiful feminine salon. Chelsea has been doing my pedi and eyebrows since 2000. The girl is fire. I do wish there was a better time system however. She is so popular and she owns the shop, it's hard to get her at the time you request. Thing is though, she kills it so gently your not as mad about it when she's done. Love her! read more

This place is great! I got a fabulous gel manicure and a pedicure from Jim. My nails and toes came out great. I thought prices were very fair and would make this my go-to spot if I lived in VA beach. Gel manicures aren't so easy to do, and I thought Jim really took the time to do a great job. He also did a nice job on my pedicure. AND- I was done with both in an hour. I hate sitting at the nail salon any longer than that. it was just perfect. My total for the gel manicure and pedicure was $55. Not bad enough to deduct a star, but I need to balance my review. My friend and I called ahead and we were told that we could be taken right away (we were in a time crunch) and when we got there both nail techs were mid-acrylic fill... so it was about 20 minutes of a wait. Had they told us that upfront we would have kept calling around ( I guess which is exactly why they didn't tell us that....) I am trying to think of the best way to put this. This would be my monthly, go-to nail place to get a great price and great service. It is not the day-spa type of place I would bring my mom for a mothers day treat. ambiance isn't their forte. Got there right at opening and had to wait 45 minutes for their nail techs to arrive before getting started with my pedicure... when my sister arrived she was told she had to wait an hour for a full set... there were only 4 other customers in the salon. Very understaffed and unprofessional.. they didn't even have a nail dryer for my toes so I had to wait 30+ minutes for my toes to dry. Didn't even stay to get our manicures/full set because of the bad service and wait time. Would not recommend. read more

Lee was so sweet by letting me come while they were closing. She's very talented and obviously experienced because I had no discomfort with my toes or hands. I'm very picky so I always review nail salons and this is a great place to go. I'm new to Virginia Beach so I've been to multiple nail salons trying to find my go-to place and I think I found it ! Make sure you tip them good you all, these nail technicians work very hard and spend most of their entire day here away from their kids , any other salon would've said they were closed. I saw all the good reviews and thought I should give this place a try. When I walked in, I was greeted well and she was very friendly for like the first ten minutes. I was told it would be $25 for gel polish and a manicure. I didn't even want a manicure but I figured $25 okay I'll get it. I even repeated "$25" to make sure I herd her right. She said "yes" At the end she said $35. I wanted to pick my colors and she said "you pick later" she gave me a manicure first. My nails soaked maybe 20 second a piece. She took the cuticals off but I still have hangnails because my nails were not soaked enough for her to remove them all. She put this lotion stuff on my hands and rubbed for 2 secs only on my palms. I've never had a manicure that short and unprofessional. When I picked the colors she went and got them. When she did my one nail, it was the wrong color that was showing on the display nail. She wiped it off and "said how about this color?" I said "yes I'll try that." She said "no try, I put it on you keep it." Well it still wasn't the right color and she said" you no change your mind again."Like she was telling me how to do my nails. The heat was so hot it was melting my polish and burning my hand. I told her about it and she said "see, I tell you don't hit your nails" I said "I never hit them, the heat is so hot." When she was done, my nails looked smudged, didn't have correct color I wanted, cuticals still showing, polish all over my fingers. I had to go home and file my nails more. She kept trying to make me get my eyebrows waxed. I said " I'm getting pictures done right after and I don't want my face red, plus I'm allergic to the wax". She said "no you be OK, I do good" I said "I can't have wax on my skin, I will break out" she still tried to pressure me. I'm so unsatisfied. I pay all this money for something nice and I should be able to have them done my way. read more

While the place is "cute", it is NOT a good experience. We asked for a regular mani/pedi and they just did a spa one, charging us $50 when we were expecting a $35 service. They did an absolute horrible job on our nails. They were all smudged and there was polish still left on our skin. While they took their time with the pedi (how it looked horrible with some much invested time is beyond me), they rushed through the mani in merely a few minutes. I tried The Nail Place for the first time today, and the girl that did my nails did an AMAZING job. When I first walked in, they asked what I needed, then asked me to sit on one of the nail stations. The three people working were busy on four customers with pedicures, so I waited quite some time. As I was about to leave, another one of their workers walked in and had me sit on her station. I realized that the only reason why I waited for so long was because they were all taking their time with their clients, and that's always a great thing.
