Drove 2.6 hours and one of our passengers has a digital ID (which is an accepted form of ID in the state of Georgia), we get to the ship and the young lady in the ticket booth refused to accept the ID. File this under: It Is What It Is. We looked up a ton of reviews between Google and Yelp prior to making the drive up from Jacksonville, so we knew what to expect. Yes, a lot of the slots of super old but that doesn't mean they're not fun. I will say that it seems like they could've made an announcement or something explaining the difference between the games on the second and third decks. We ended up figuring it out for ourselves, but it seems like a quick announcement would make things less confusing. The other thing I've seen in reviews is YES, the boat rocks, A LOT. I've been on casino boats before but even in very calm waters, this boat rocked a lot more than I'm used to. Not the end of the world as some reviews claim, you just have to be careful is all. Beer prices are cheap and every member of staff we encountered was nice. We played a lot of slots while the casino was open and we left with $100 more than we started with, so no complaints there. read more

A quaint alternative to victory casino cruise and Hard Rock casino Tampa. It was an hour and 10 minute drive from Jacksonville. $20 gets you a dinner and drink, free park and exhilarating experience e on the high seas. My wife is disabled so they had a go cart take her to the front of the ship. Amazing. We just soaked everything in. Emerald princess is a genuine alternative for a fun day at sea!! read more

I did the evening cruise with my significant other. Private casino and very obviously so, it's not Vegas or Atlantic City. Food is not great, best comparison is bad cafeteria food where everything came from a can. It is considerate that they give you a snack later in the evening though, especially since it is a very long night. Staff is polite and very nice. read more

I loved my excursion with the Princess. A totally fun evening. The only complaint I have, is that as a handicapped individual my ship access was severely limited, as there is no elevator available. I hated being separated from my group for dinner and being unable to play bingo. The staff was wonderful, the food good, and the ship smooth. Definitely bring a jacket. It's chilly. The Good, the Bad, And the Ugly The good - the crew and the food were outstanding for the most part. Our cabin steward Orville was the bom-diggety. The Bad - (not their fault) we missed 2 ports of call due to a fire and hurricanes. Although I still don't understand why we couldn't disembark in Ensenada. The other cruise ship docked there did and the weather was fine. Also, Sabatini's isn't all that it's advertised to be. We had better food at the buffet on most days. The service felt very rushed and the lobster ravioli was the only outstanding thing about it. The UGLY - 1) my Nikon camera lens was broken at the pier when we checked in. The man at the head of the line behind the scanner belt rudely said to put everything in our bags including cell phones. The woman putting things through the scanner shoved my bag in such that when it came out the other side it fell off the belt and my Nikon camera lens was broken. I filled out a form with security, they took pictures and I am now having difficulty with the claim. 2) The TV in our room did not work for the first 5 days on board. I really could not afford the internet package but I paid for 2 days because I got sick of looking at the menus and activities which was all I could access on my phone. They came to "fix" it every day and as soon as they left it went out again. One night we had to ask them to leave at 10:30 because we wanted to go to sleep. 3.) We booked an excursion that was advertised as moderately accessible. I have a walker (not a scooter or wheelchair) and they immediately told me to go wait in the gift shop as they said I could not manage the trail. I was not offered a refund or allowed to try to walk the gardens. I was told there were some plants in the parking lot behind the gift shop I could photograph. 4) Despite 2 hurricanes, a fire, some medical emergencies, a man overboard, and an earthquake there was very little information provided to the passengers. Some announcements were made with zero follow-up so of course rumors ran rampant. More communication from the bridge with more details and updates would have been much appreciated. 5) Two of the 4 dryers on my deck's laundromat were broken which led to some extremely unpleasant encounters among passengers. I actually took my wet laundry back to my cabin and took it back later to still have to wait in line with a bunch of really cranky people. read more

If you hate cigarette smoke, the casino cruise in Brunswick isn't for you. I did not see ANYTHING in their instructions about smoking on this cruise. If I had, I would not have gone. it was awful, just awful, and you are stuck for 5 hours. They tell you what not to wear and make you sign a waiver if you deviate from their list, but they certainly don't tell you about the smoke and that it can be a major factor in your enjoyment of the experience. I would not recommend this cruise. Food was OK. Machines were OK. Boat needs updating and the crew were fairly friendly. Nothing special. I would spend my money elsewhere. read more

Complete run down dive. First of all it was dirty. Second supposed strict no smoking policy....well....joke! Many people were smoking vapes cigarettes the whole nine yards. I wish there was a 0 star rating!!! I have no idea where to begin! My 61st Birthday and I decided that I wanted to do the gambling cruise with my hubby and 8 of our besties! We've been on the ship before, however it was two years ago and the ship has totally deteriorated to the umpteenth degree and should not be allowed to sail, as a matter of fact, as of this writing the ship cancelled all sailings for this week to do maintenance...which is desperately needed and quite overdo. The crew was eating & sleeping with heads on the table in the gambling area in front of the bar due to their area in the dining room being roped off because the ceiling was falling in! While standing in line for the buffet dinner, they ran out of meat...RAN OUT OF MEAT and said come back in 15 min, where they had NO MEAT and were now serving cold pasta, frozen fish, boxed mashed potatoes, gravy, soggy broccoli, bagged salad and a dinner roll. The restrooms were filthy and the doors were quite literally falling off the hinges! There were no lights on the dock when departing and two crew members that walked off with us said they didn't have the money to turn them on! Do they have the money to pay when someone is seriously injured??? There used to be a different ship here years and years ago that actually had an open air party deck up top that had entertainment and seating which was lovely...we couldn't even get to any of the outside decks as they were completely roped off. We could open the door and maybe 10 people could stand out on the back...no more than 10 though. One of the crew members working in the casino messed up a win for one of our guests while several people watched what he was doing and then denied it!!! Thank g-d my friend went to the pit boss and was able to recover some of what he took from her. My advice...stay home or go to Hard Rock if you want to gamble in the future, that's exactly what we're going to do! read more

If I could give this experience zero stars I would. You have to be an avid gambler and a chain smoker to enjoy anything about it. First, some of the machines are from 1986. not kidding. There is a slot tech on board and he is busy all night opening and fixing the faulty slot machines. Second, there are some table games you cannot play until you have five people. And there's more ... The food was terrible and I'm not even a picky eater. The AC is cranked up way too high. I mean freezing. The ship is old, dirty, stinky. The workers act like they don't want to be there. I am not sure what cruise the people were on that gave those bad reviews but we had an amazing fun day. I went for my birthday and all the staff from dining to bartenders cocktail waitress dealers DJ and casino staff were all friendly and very helpful. Shout out to my girl Sandy who kept the champagne flowing. The food was not 5 star but was very good and plentiful. The restrooms were very clean and it had great machines. Although I didn't win my Mom won $1500. It is true that when you first walk on the ship it smells a little smoky but in the casino I did not feel like it was smoky in there. The Emerald Princess isn't the nicest girl on the water here, but she does allow you to legally gamble as close as you'll get from the Georgia line. When you walk onto the ship you think "Close the door, you're letting the smoke out!" because the boat stinks so freaking bad from all the years of smoking aboard the Emerald Princess. While you sail out to sea you are invited to the dining room where some food like substance is served and it is not good at all; 1970's public school food was better. And they do have live entertainment while you dine; that is also not so good. The singer looked like Kenny Rogers but the sound was not so great. After about an hour you are out to the proper length from shore and the casino opens. As you enter the casino your eyes swell up and begin to tear up from all the smoke floating in the air and your ears adjust from bad singing upstairs to the chaching of slot machines and the gamblers mumbling. The gaming onboard isn't so bad. The slots are not too tight; we won about $400 on them. As far as the tables we didn't spend much time there; think I lost about $50 and decided to go back to the quarter slots. After about 3 more hours the casino shuts down and you head back to St. Simons. You are SO READY to get back! Due to all the smoke you feel like you have a good nicotine buzz and decide to go outside and up top on the boat for the rest of the ride. Once the boat docks and the doors open you see people running out the ship. These senior gamblers know how to shove. So would I do it again? Heck yeah I would! I mean gambling in the southeast is worth putting up with bad food and smoking. read more

What a nightmare. I counted down every last second until it was time to get off this floating prison. The sea appeared calm but the ship rocked like it was in the midst of a squall. The staff was rude, the boat was dirty, ancient machines, and we didn't dare try the food after smelling the putrid odor wafting throughout the third floor. A group of about 50 people ("People you'd meet in jail for $1000, Alex") stood at the door waiting to get off yet they made us wait 20 minutes to leave once docked. My sister had her wedding rehearsal dinner on this cruise this past summer. Overall, it was okayyy. You can gamble all you want (tables and slot machines) and drink all the cheap beer you want. They do have mixed drinks for sale. The food was pretty bad. Ok, really bad! The boat departed around 7ish, and dinner was served about 8ish. They did serve a late night snack around midnight - biscuits and juice if I recall. By the end of the night, we still felt the need to stop at Waffle House due to hunger and not-so-great food on the ship. There were a few activities on board. In addition to the casino. you can play BINGO for $15 - ohhhh, ahhhhh! And there's a DJ who played some good jams. There's a pretty nice observation deck too with nice views. As a whole, this is a simple, easy, and cheap night out. Only for those 18+ (bring your ID and leave the kids at home - they do card!). It's only $7 for the whole night and that includes food. Ehh, give it a try. But if you skip it, I don't think you'll regret it! read more

Never seen anything like it. I put $200 cash on the table and the dealer says it's $180. Somehow a $20 bill magically disappeared! Well when I went back to put more cash on the table, after counting many times, sure enough the dealer told me my $200 is $180. Apparently the dealer was stacking bills and claiming they were a single bill. The nerve of the guy to try it again after getting away with it. Don't believe all the negative reviews on this site. The Emerald Princess Casino is a fine venue. First, the entry price is super affordable, you can't get anything for 10 bucks these days. The food which is included is about as good as any buffet and you get a midnight snack on top. It includes soft drinks. The price of cocktails are even more reasonable that in a chain restaurant. The crew is very pleasant and welcoming. The casino has all the games you could want and good action. The smell of smoke cant be avoided because its a closed environment but it is certainly not offensive. You can go on the top deck and watch the stars, and breathe fresh ocean air. Don't DO it. Yeah, the attractive Groupon or Hotel deals of a $10 dinner/gambling cruise appeals to your inner cheapskate, but you MUST resist the urge. My inner cheapskate won this battle and we booked a reservation for 2. Not knowing a thing about it, I looked it up online (their website, not Yelp), that was my first mistake.) Now according to their website not only are ALL participants supposed to dress up as if you are going for a night on the town, but THIS cruise is one of GA's premier entertainment destinations. Apparently, my BS detector was not working this day. So, planning for a nice evening out, we dressed accordingly. Upon arriving at the dock, it quickly became apparent that the dress code was not going to be enforced, as the people, dressed in T-shirts and oil stained blue jeans, who parked next to us quickly jumped out of their truck with bricks in hand to jam under their tires so that their truck didn't roll into the dock. SERIOUSLY, that happened. As we made our over dressed butts onto the boat, we were quickly greeted by the staff and an expedited case of emphysema and lung cancer. Holy smokes, the stale smell of cigarettes and desperation filled the cabin of the ENTIRE boat. Even though hope was washing down the drain, our optimism still pushed us forward to our golden prize of a "gourmet buffet". As we approached the dining hall, which by the way doubles as the cruise Bingo hall, the realization of what was about to happen starting embracing our hearts. We were going to be on this boat for 6 hours with people that were a cross of Honey Boo Boo's family and a Madea family reunion. Holy crapballs!! Needless to say as we approached the buffet line, we had already accepted defeat, what else could happen, right? Meatloaf happened, not your mom's love meatloaf, but more like prison cubed, ketchup topped meatloaf served with a side of instant mashed potatoes and gravy (with skin)...always an uplifting moment in a foodies life. Fortunately, they also provided canned fruit and store bought cookies/rolls for us as well, just to make sure that our reminiscent lunch room experience was complete. Thank you, Emerald Cruise Line!! Now it wasn't all bad, the views and the first 2 hours of the cruise was nice on the top deck, but 4 hrs later...we were starving, irritated and just wanting off the boat...along with all the other people gambled their paychecks on the boat. In short, sometimes one needs to re-evaluate when making such a purchase....is this worth the trouble and disappointment that this WILL lead too....in this case, that answer is a resounding... Beware- you will be in the boat for 6 hours!! We were invited by a friend and based from advertising on their website, we had high expectations. First of all you have to pay $10 to get on. They have this little cart to take you from the ticket station to the boarding area but anyone can just jump in and doesn't really take consideration who needs it most. As soon as you board, you would smell and see how awful this place is. The smoke that has probably stuck in all their carpeting or everything that absorb it probably since this boat has ever existed. We walked around and also found the dining area that is worse than a warehouse cafeteria. We went ahead and checked out the food - and even the salad is not appetizing. Their little "bar" area in the dining room is more like your basement bar or your basement bar is probably better. Slots machines are old and not updated. The upper deck was the only thing that is enticing- the cool breeze when leaving the dock and the air on our faces that made us forget that this is just unbelievably boring. Bathrooms were not kept up. By the third hour, everyone looks miserable! Ugh Avoid this place. This boat needs a renovation and a massive maintenance! read more

We decided we'd try out this Casino cruise, since it was free for military... and it came with free dinner as well. When we got on the ship, it seemed pretty... old. A lot of machines were broken and not working. The food wasn't good at all... and the staff weren't too friendly either. I suggest going down to Florida for the Victory Casino cruises, because at least their boats are more up to date, & there is a bar on the top deck with actual seating, unlike *this* boat. We will more than likely not come back, and I don't really recommend this cruise. read more

I went on their day cruise this afternoon. For $10 you get a meal when they push off, and a hot snack on the way back to the dock. Plus, active military get on free (and tickets for get free play). This is what I'd call a GREAT deal. Considering that I'm a total slot-junkie, their variety of machines was just "OK." The staff was very friendly, the overall atmosphere was extremely laid-back. Do not expect a "Vegas-style" casino- the boat is on the old side, and the second level of the casino definitely showed it's age. The lower level, however, was a different story. They had a lot of familiar machines, ample table games and two bars (super cheap drink prices). My biggest piece of advice is to check the maritime weather report (I think there's a link to it on their website). Today was sunny, but the water was VERY choppy-- several passengers were sick. It was ok. For $10 there is not much to complain about. The food was a mixed bag; the chicken was terrible but the side dishes were ok, again for $10 total you cant complain about much. Must be 18 or older to board the ship, they check ID as you board. Under 21's may play in the casino but may not drink alcohol. If you are NOT coming to gamble, one piece of advice: BRING A BOOK. The observation deck is a beautiful view, well worth the price of admission, but 6 hours is longer than you think. If you ARE coming to gamble, you will enjoy yourself most if you are a casual gambler or dont get to casinos very much. The machines dont have much variety but, again, they serve their purpose. Best value we found was the video blackjack; at $1 bet minimum your money lasts a while. If you plan on gambling most of the time, bring $100 minimum, and always play responsibly. Once boarding, everone heads straight to the dining room. I recommend grabbing a great spot on the observation deck, enjoying the ride out for an hour or so between Jekkyl and St. Simons Islands, then go to the nearly empty dining room, and enjoy the casino/observation deck afterwards. read more

Lucky my group all wanted to play so we had a game you need min of 5 people for them to open a table. 2-2 NL. max buy in $300. Overall easy game. Dealer was good even though he was young. It's an older boat but it looks like they took the time to try and take care of it. The felt on the tables looked newer and I liked it. The chips? Paulson tophat clays What you don't get. Food, yea the food sucked, I would have been more then happy to pay another 5 bucks for a decent meal. If you want to come and gamble, you will have a good time, if you expect anything else....there is nothing else that the boat offers. Try not to lose your shirt in the first hour because you will be stuck on the boat with nothing to do. The restaurant was cluttered, not inviting, and the food was mediocre at best. And to top it off after eating there food we got an upset stomach that lasted until the next evening and beyond. Some slot machines would not print a cash out ticket and there were very few varieties to choose from also. On the upside, the employees were pleasant and helpful, although they looked overworked and assuredly underpaid. Totally depressing atmosphere!!! We would not go back nor recommended this cruise to anyone. We drove 2 hours for this....should of stayed home, watched a movie and saved our money. I've gone on this casino cruise around 5 times now with the most recent sailing on Black Friday. It was nice that on Black Friday the sailing fee ($10 was waived). This of course brought more patrons on board. I always find the food to be decent. In the times that I remember I have been served grilled chicken, pecan crusted tilapia, and roast beef. It is not a buffet but I have gotten away with getting seconds. While on board there is no slots or table games until the boat is out on international waters. However, during this time all the video poker games are available. The cruise has a limited bar with $3 beers and mixed drinks. I would always check the weather to make sure the seas aren't too rough for when you are sailing. I would call ahead as well to make reservations and to make sure they are sailing that day/night. I would also check online to see their specials, schedule, and events that are going on. If you enjoy gambling then this is a pretty good time if you don't want to drive north to Harrah's or west to Golden Moon. Also note that there is a lot of smoke on board and it can be nauseating in a closed off room/floor. Make sure to bring sea sickness medicine just in case! read more

Showed up for the 1100 casino cruise and boarded the boat around 1030. Went up to the lounge area where food is served and we were seated waiting to set sail. As we're sitting there another couple walks in and they are told that they aren't serving food and we weren't sailing today. This was the first we had heard of it after sitting up there for almost 30 minutes with multiple employees also sitting up there. When we went downstairs to see what was going on, we were told they were having steering issues but they were going to sail tonight. Went back to the trailer to get a refund and another employee was saying they only had 16 people on the boat making it sound like they weren't sailing due to not having enough people on board. As a company if you're having steering issues, this is something you should let people know especially the people who made reservations ahead of time. My boyfriend and I (24 and 25) thought this would be something fun to try while visiting in the area. We've never been to a casino before so I have nothing to compare it to but here's my experience: The staff was decent. Everyone was smoking cigarettes or cigars. There is no "designated" smoking area. The food was okay but nothing special. It seemed like we went out from shore so far and then just sat there so the constant rocking and spinning was a lot. I felt queasy and my boyfriend got sick. A lot of other passengers were sick, so the bathrooms were a mess and once we could finally get off, the first floor smelled like vomit. Even if you haven't gotten seasick in the past, still take something just in case. Also, I asked for a mimosa (because it was on a chalkboard as an advertisement) and the bartender said he'd have to make it with vodka so it was $9... it was an experience, and my boyfriend won $51 but we won't be going back. read more

This cruise was terrible. Not that we expected to win big, but the company has little sense of client relationship. First, you make online reservations but can't pay until you get to the dock and stand in line. The cruise set sail at 7:00 but last call for dinner is at 7:30. The servers in the restaurant were very kind. The food so so on paper plates and a plastic fork only. The smoke will choke you throughout the boat. The kicker was at 9:00 the air conditioning went out and the internet dropped. So the atms were not available either. Know, too that when you cash out a ticket from a machine, you can't use it at another machine--only cash in the machines. The techs were very friendly if you had a problem. Now back to air conditioning...they made the announcement at 9:00 that they were turning the boat around and please cash in by 10:00. So from that point on, we sat and roasted. So now that I e came here twice.... I'm not a fan. If you're coming to play poker....don't. I have never seen the tables going. This seems more of a place for an older crowd....40&up.
