We had made payment arrangements to give us a few extra days to pay the day previous. We were not deadbeats, just a little caught short at the time. However, this tech didn't get the memo. I will never, ever forget what he said to me when I tearfully asked him, "But we had an arrangement! What can I do?" He looked at the newborn in my arms, raised an eyebrow, looked me dead in the eye and said, "Pay your bill." Then he shoved a pink piece of paper in my hand, cut off our power and that was it. When I was finally able to call Clark, they didn't care that we had an arrangement. I was going to have to suffer in the dark for the next few days until my husband got paid. This was WAY before the welfare program they have now, which I understand is absolutely lovely for the work shy. Years later, we were shocked when our monthly bill went from $150/month to almost $400/month. I was told that for the size of our house, a very small three bedroom, one level cottage, $400 was average. Yet our neighbors paid much less with similar homes. Funny, that. Never an explanation. Never an offer to come look at the meter. It would be fantastic for all of Clark County if we had a choice as to which company took our money for what should be the basic right of electricity.

It happened to be a holiday when I called Greg (Casebeer) and he was out of town, but he spent the better part of an hour on the phone with me diagnosing the problem and having me text him pics. When he returned to town on a Sunday (after a long flight), he came over to our house right away. He used an infrared imager to locate a leak below our floor. This enabled him to have to access the faulty connection, which had cracked. He made the repair, cleaned the system and also taught me a lot about radiant heating systems in the process -- I refer to him as the mad scientist of radiant heating. He told me that the pumps that someone had installed were way too big for our system and although they moved a lot of water, were moving it very inefficiently. He calculated the size of the appropriate pumps (which he let me order on Amazon since their price was below his cost) and he installed them. The system is now more efficient and quieter. Overall, the experience was great and I would absolutely not hesitate to give Greg a call with any issues related to boiler furnaces or radiant systems. Super knowledgeable and good work.

A sewer scope found the blockage in the sewer but was unable to find the spot where the rain drains tied in so the actual root cause was never determined. The whole line was bad but I replaced only the section that plugged up to save money until I could afford to fix it properly. Since then the basement stayed dry despite multiple heavy rains. Once I saved enough I had Black Rock Underground replaced my sewer pipe in May 2022. They were hired by the city to work on the main sewer line for the block, I didn't know much about them but because my sewer line tied into the one they were already working on they only charged be $2,800 to replace my whole line!!! A few weeks after replacing the sewer pipe it flooded again (we had record braking rain fall). I figured it was because they had to disconnected my rain drains in order to meet the city's current codes. I knew the codes and didn't blame them for it, it had to happen. After researching the different options to reliably waterproof the basement I finally called them a few weeks ago in hopes they remembered something about the work that might help me decide the best fix. They immediately offered to come investigate. Britt came out, scoped all my drains, put water down them, located them and marked their depth. I had paid two different companies for the same service Britt did back when it first flooded, both were unhelpful so I didn't expect much. I'm not sure if the other guys didn't know what they were doing or just didn't care but I was blown away by Britt's feedback, he genuinely cared and went above and beyond my expectations trying to figure out the root cause. His feedback was extremely helpful, insightful, and thorough. I'd praise him more but I'm tired of typing. I want to buy this guy a beer!! THANK YOU BRITT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
