My wife and I went shopping to the outlet stores stopped in for a bite to eat family run. Food was excellent. Will eat there again.

Small and quaint, family run place. The guy was very helpful and patient. Don't let the atmosphere deter you as the food here is definitely worth a try. Their pork shoulder (a little salty but with the other items was great) 9/10 came with a rice (yellow or white) and beans (pinto or black) . We also go the empanadas - beef carne 9/10, cheesesteak 8/10, chicken 7/10. The yuca fries 9/10 were not what I expected as it wasn't fried but was very tasty. The seasoning here on all their items were great and on point. Definitely recommend a visit! read more

OMG!!! The food is amazing!!! I was going to be in the Stroudsburg area today and from reading all those good reviews on yelp I decided I would stop by. The food is very very good. I ordered 2 beef empanadas with cheese. They didn't make it home. They were hot and juicy!! I ordered a Lg pernil with yellow rice and pigeon peas. The pernil is so juicy any tasty.the yellow rice was excellent! The portions are very big! The place is nice and clean. While visiting family in Tannersville I found this little spot on yelp. Decided to take a chance on it, and I am so glad that I did. I walked into the most welcoming atmosphere I could of imagined. I mean it literally felt like I walked into my family dining room during thanksgiving. The food was absolutely amazing, I wanted to try everything (the guy behind the counter who was super friendly let me sample a few items and it was all delicious). I ordered the saltfish with yuca, pernil with rice and beans, and both beef & chicken empanadas. I definitely shared the food as it was plentiful. Everything tasted fresh and delicious like they had grandma in the back cooking. Will definitely patronize this place again when i'm back in PA. read more

Nice little family-run spot with friendly service. The pulled pork and chicken were pretty good, though the rice was overly greasy. The fried plantain was delicious, but it's not included with the entree -- you have to order it as a side. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and even let us sample items, which earns an extra star from me. On food alone, I'd give it a 3, but the warm service makes the experience more enjoyable. read more

I am SOOOO happy that we found this place!! We were only in town for 1 night..on our way to see the Cubs/Yankees game over the weekend. We ate not familiar with Puerto Ricon cuisine but Jessie walked us through it. My husband had the beef with yellow rice and pinto beans. I chose the baked chicken with yellow rice and black beans. Everything was AMAAAAAZING! Generous portions and great flavors. Nothing was too spicy. BTW...Jessie says they make everything fresh, every day! He says he would rather throw it away at the end of the day, than to reheat today's food and serve it tomorrow.. Give them a try!! read more

We made a stop at Emilio's place after a trip to the mountains. Our friends love their food and decided to get it for lunch. The moment we walked in, the lady greeted us and offered samples. She was extremely welcoming, it felt like we just walked into her home kitchen. We tried a few things and ended up getting a little bit of everything. We ordered ox tail, garlic chicken, yuca, pernil, white rice, yellow rice and a flan and mac salad. The guy at the counter was also very nice, and I dont think he charged me for the dessert or salad. He threw in extra house special hot sauce (The green one is my favorite). I have to say that the sleeper pick was the Yuca. It was soo flavorful and melt in your mouth. I decided I was going to go back the next day to bring some home. Unfortunately, I didn't realize they are closed on Sundays!! Bummer Highly recommend this spot for some home style spanish food. Emilio's in Brodheadsville had just opened recently, and as a foodie & chef myself I love Latin food and just had to stop. Upon waking in the aromas from the food made me salivate. The staff was warm and welcoming and walked me through their food options, answering all my questions. The ambiance was very fresh, inviting and clean. I chose the Oxtail w/ rice and beans and a beef empanada to go. The rice and beans were flavorful and cooked perfectly, the Oxtail was to die for! It was juicy, succulent and fall off the bone. The empanada was mind blowing, the meat was seasoned to perfection and the dough was buttery and flaky...it definitely left me wishing I order two of them. Are you staying in the nearby Poconos area? Are you looking for something more than pizza and pasta? Then come to Emilio's for AMAZING Latin food. Thanks to Yelp I was able to find this delicious place which was an easy 10 minute drive from Great Wolf. We had stayed a few days in the area and missed some rice and beans. The young man at the counter was very friendly and explained the menu to us as well as their fresh daily specials. We decided on some roast pork with yellow rice, bbq ribs, and chicken chicharrones. Every bite was better than the first and we left full and with plenty of leftovers! The prices are all very reasonable and as most Latin restaurants they are plentiful as well! The place itself is very casual inside, like a pizzeria so no need to dress up. They also had some delicious looking desserts but we were too full to try. This is a hidden gem of a place in the Poconos. The younger guy who works the front is a very nice person and is super knowledgeable on the menu and is eager to help the patrons who come in and aren't totally sure what they want yet. I am posting about two trips I made here, and both were 5 star trips. The first time in he told me that typically when someone comes for the first time they get the Pernil (which is basically a Puerto Rican roasted pork shoulder) with the yellow rice and pinto beans. Uhm, okay buddy, say no more...you have me interested. This pork had fantastic flavor. I've had many Spanish pork dishes in my life and this was right near the top. The beans had a really great flavor to them and the rice with pigeon peas was also very good. I knew i'd go back as soon as I took my first bite. The second time in he talked me into trying their BBQ Chicken. Since I had gotten the pinto beans the first time around I decided I wanted to try the black beans but I stuck with the yellow rice and pigeon peas. As an added bonus he tossed in a little bit of their baked yuca for me to try. Holy wow. The Chicken was similar to most BBQ chicken dishes but with much more flavor. The black beans were also seasoned perfectly and this yuca was like nothing I had ever had before. I am used to having fried yuca with a dipping sauce, this was so much more like other tubers i've had that are baked. Lots of garlic flavor on it and super tender. I can't seem to find solid contact information for them or I would go in and film some footage for them for the blog, YouTube, and TikTok pages I have. We were visiting Camel Back in Pennsylvania over the Easter weekend and decided to drive to Strousburg as dining options are really limited at the resort..We decided to try Emilios after looking at different restaurants..I must say we made the right choice!!! At first I was skeptical because of the limited reviews..When we arrived we were greeted by the owners ..I must say they were really nice and friendly..Place was very clean and the food was delicious!! Their Pernil was really tasty..The beans were a little bit watery but delicious..The Tostones (Fried Plantians) tasted fresh and yummy with the garlic sauce they gave us..The owner Emilio kept coming over and checking on us..He really had a great attitude and even told us how he ended up moving to Pennsylvania...I must also say that everything was reasonably priced!! [1139] 2/2021 We were skiing in the area so we decided to check out this local place. I'm so glad we did as the portions were HUGe and the prices were reasonable. I didn't see menus or a sign listing the items they had but I used the Yelp pictures. They had a warming table which was fine for the rice and side items. We also had tostones (wow) and a Cuban sandwich which hubby loved The chocolate covered strawberries were tasty. Hubby loved the tres leches and would come back just for the dessert (it was that good) They had a nice variety of empanadas but I didn't try them. Super nice family running this modest eatery. The pernil is off the hook and the oxtail (only offered on Saturdays) is nicely executed and flavorful, and it comes with bell peppers and olives in the sauce. The rice and beans-- which are often overlooked-- are also tasty. Rotisserie chicken is cooked well, empanadas are very good. Owner is so polite, precious and gracious which has nothing to do with the delicious food, but it MUST be part of the recipes!!! I haven't been to Emilio's since the pandemic caused the food court in Stroud Mall to shutdown, but glad they hung in there because it's a great place for a meal with reasonable prices and no hype!!! I found this gem and so excited to share a review and their story, a father with a dream saving his money to open a restaurant then family emergency wipes him out of the dream so he starts small and now with the help of his children and wife they we're to finally open this place and name it after his father, in the picture we met the son and mother who to full-fill the fathers dream working 6 days a week. Now let's talk authenticity of the food being served all I can say I don't have to drive into NYC spend $14 toll, I have the authenticity of the food right here in Stroudsburg the OX tails was on point with the quality and flavors were out of this world, the rice and beans was sooooo good!!! This establishment is extremely rude, I wasn't greeted at all and was ignored the moment I walked in. This is fine because the taste of food matters more to me than service. After attempting to order, they served me a plate that's already been plated. I asked them if it was fresh and they said it was a customer's order that wasn't picked up and that they wanted to get rid of it. Personally, I don't find that sanitary. I told them I wanted a plate of my own and once I tried it, I was heavily disappointed by the lack of seasoning and flavor. I won't be back. read more
