Fried Pork Mofongo (Carne Frita de Cerdo)

WHAT A HIDDEN GEM! we were staying at the Great Wolf Lodge and what a surprise it was to find out we could get authentic Puerto Rican food just down the street! The food was incredible- the people there were so friendly, so nice and so accomodating. We were celebrating our friend's birthday and they were able to arrange a candle and place on their tres leche cake & then come out and sing happy birthday! Absolutely beautiful decor inside, and it made you feel like you were actually in Puerto Rico. Would 1000% visit again!

Visiting lake harmony, I travel around 1 hr to visit this place, it was showed in yelp and serve Puertorrican food... so we had to go. It was a different place that I use to visit, (not fancy restaurant) but no regrets. First, it surprised me at arrival the smell of food is amazing... I ordered several dishes for me and my family, and sat on the big table ... since everything that we ordered was fresh the wait was ok, that build the excitement and increased the appetite.. at the arrival of the food, the food was hot, you can smell the garlic in the mofongo and the "caldo de pollo" had a great flavor too. La "carne frita" was amazing, crunchy and enough pieces to fill my hunger. el pollo guisado with white rice was well prepared and has a great flavor. Las empanadas de carne also were delicious and crusty, plus the meat was well seasoned too. We drank the official cola champagne and of course Malta India. There was plenty of food that we had to take it with us... . The service was amazing, polite and friendly, you can feel the Boricua hospitality. At the end checking the prices for the amount of people, it was very reasonable. Thanks to both servers and the people on the kitchen that made our day so much happier... we love food and they made that moment very special for us. Thanks. Few pictures to share...

Wow! After reading several wonderful reviews, I decided to visit El Rincon Caribe. The wait staff person was extremely kind and welcoming, and I asked her to surprise me with a dish she thought was worthwhile. In short order, I had an amazing fresh plate of steak and peppers with rice and beans. I am not a steak and peppers fan because the meat has always been a cheap and chewy cut. Not this time. The beef was tender, lean, and delectable. I'm not sure of the seasoning they used, but it was definitely the perfect balance that enriched the flavor of the beef. The rice and beans were equally delicious, thanks to tasty black beans over moist and flawlessly cooked rice. I wanted to put down my fork because I was full, but I couldn't stop. The meal was simply too amazing. Unfortunately, I had no room for their homemade desserts, which included homemade ice cream. When I return next week, I will definitely pounce on one of their after dinner creations! (Great for takeout, they do have a wonderful little dining area in case you'd like to stay a little while longer.)

Carne guisada - they forgot the beans

Ordered delivery, my carne guisada did not come with beans even though the menu said it did and I even specified the type of beans. The tres leche was really dry, and in general not the best experience.

EL Rincón in Tannersville, PA offers a truly authentic Puerto Rican dining experience. The restaurant's cozy atmosphere immediately transports you to the heart of Puerto Rico. The friendly staff is incredibly welcoming and attentive, earning them a well-deserved 5-star rating for customer service. The highlight of the meal was the mofongo, which was bursting with rich, flavorful goodness. The pasteles were another delightful treat, showcasing the chef's expertise in Puerto Rican cuisine. While there were some high points, not every dish lived up to expectations. The alcapurias, unfortunately, were too greasy and overly salty, but the quick replacement with pasteles was a commendable gesture by Krystal, thank you for that, it was really appreciate. The yucca was decent, and the empanadas were a tasty option for those seeking a different flavor profile. downside, the ox tail dish didn't quite hit the mark, leaving room for improvement in the menu. In summary, EL Rincón impresses with its ambiance and exceptional customer service, making you feel like you're in Puerto Rico. The mofongo and pasteles are definite must-tries, it's worth visiting for a taste of Puerto Rican cuisine and the warm hospitality of the staff. Thank you Krystal you were AWSOME!!! They also have the coolest Puerto Rican merchandise I bought a mug, two lanyards and a pot holder!!

Definitely plan on coming back to try more food but their Cuban sandwich is quite good. I believe I detected mayo on it which is something I'm not used to, but I enjoyed it. This is a top 3 Cuban for me between the Poconos and Lehigh Valley areas, so it's a pretty big deal. Check out the video on TikTok! I will update the review when I try more food from there!

I was in the mood for spanish food and called in my order for sautéed whiting, rice with beans and a side of beans. Had no clue the rice already had beans in it or I would of never ordered a side of beans. Anywho when I arrived I parked in the lot. At first I didn't see the restaurant but eventually found it. I walked in and my order was ready. I paid a little over $19 and left. When I ate the food was ok. The whiting was a little salty tasting and the rice and beans wasn't bad. It was filling though. All in all I had a decent experience.

    Garlic Mofongo

Turns out the mofongo is made with oil instead of butter. The lactard me was super excited! I got the garlic mofongo and it was a huge portion for one person. It was nicely seasoned and not too oily. The sauce that came with it was a nice complement. Their phone line was busy most of the time, but it was a quick and easy order once they actually picked up the call.

How nice to travel to find a little piece of familiar culture!…read more I didn't expect to have a mind blowing experience. Opted for the oxtail because (go big or go home!) I felt it would be a good baseline by which to judge their skills. I think it was an excellent dish because the meat was tender, flavorful and light. Delightful. I definitely know they cook their own rice and peas fresh. So that winner and their appetizers are great and I definitely recommend them if you want something other than the local fare. As for their customer service, it's like a typical Caribbean spot. Service may seem surly but it is what it is. I will definitely be back!

So I'm going to start with the negative. If you call the phone number, no one will answer but you…read morewill very shortly after get a text message with the menu and a "how can I help you". Seemed super awesome at first right..... yes for the first 5 minutes. After that it become a very tedious and annoying process of 30 min of back and forth texting that could easily be handled in a 5 minute phone conversation. This method of ordering is not the best way to conduct business in my opinion. Then if/when you go to the location, there is only a door that is closed with a window on top. It instructs you not to bang, to text, and to have a mask on. Okayyyyy. There's also a chalkboard menu outside the door. Half the things on the menu, once texted to ordered, you will be told is unavailable. So what's the point of the menu. Also, you get no pricing. Even if you ask unless you press for the price and ask multiple times, you will not get it. So your total will be a surprise when you go to pay...and trust it will likely be a surprise with how expensive it is. When you finally get a text that your food is ready, your card will be taken from you, your food bag shoved at you, and very little words if any exchanged. But your food bags will be heavy. NOW THE FOOD. As a Jamaican myself, the food was delicious. The portions are ginormous, so think about sharing. We ordered the stew snapper and jerk salmon. Each comes with rice and peas (which is 3/4 of the container), steamed veg, and plantain. A large Mac and cheese will be the entire container. So unless you need to feed 3-4, don't get a large. The rice and peas is good. Flavorful and clearly done with coconut and pimento seeds... how it should be. The jerk salmon looked burnt and dry but surprisingly was not in the least. The veg was delicious and I could eat a side of that alone. The macaroni and cheese was perfectly cheesy and seasoned. The food itself might be why people put up with the terrible ordering system and lack luster customer service.
