And the salsa had a nice heat to it. Delicious!!! I had the Mexican dinner special-1 crispy taco, 1 enchilada, bean and rice. Just enough! Hubby had the chicken taco salad. This old and run down hole in the wall is a good place to get a $4.95 Tuesday and Wednesday Enchilada Dinner. It's two cheese or beef enchiladas, rice and beans. This place has other daily specials too. Regular menu items seem to be quite expensive. Inside looks dated. And has a clean tool shed ambiance about it. I thought the enchiladas were good almost reminded me of the 1980's frozen Patio enchilada dinners we use to buy. Did get extra chips but no extra salsa to go with them or drink refills. I've eaten there a few times, and each time had a poor experience. The owner is always unfriendly, and in my opinion, the food is never tasty. Imagine frying ground beef with zero seasoning...just fat and meat.... that's what the ground beef tastes like in the tacos, enchiladas, etc. Lots of folks seem to like it, but it definitely not my cup of tea. read more

I'm going to do something I'd usually never do and that's vent about a local business but cannot let this go! Last couple of times we have been to Emilio's Restaurant we went in, received our order, which is average at best, received our ticket and went to pay. Prices are written on the ticket. Once we get to the counter, the guy taking the money says, "they (the server) wrote the wrong price!" He then charges us more per plate than what is on the ticket! This has happened as I said more than once and last two times consecutively! Honor what is on the ticket!! We will not step foot in that establishment again! I'm just curious how many others he is doing this to and how much he makes off of re-pricing! read more

Stay away! It's for your own good. Trust me. Our family has eaten here on multiple occasions (and only because our grandmother suggests it) and the experience has always been the same. Decent food and terrible service. It's out last visit, however, that lead me to write this review. We showed up after church on a Sunday at around 11:00am and they just opened. Now, one would think that you would get great customer service seeing as how your family are the only people there. Wrong. So, so, wrong. The male waiter was so rude it was mind blowing. He rolled his eyes at me when I asked to hold the cheese on my tacos! Seriously? But wait, it gets worse. My cousin is a heavy set man, and when his nachos came out there were multiple long black hair strands in it. When he asked the waiter to just take the food back because he wasn't hungry anymore, the waiter had the audacity to say, "Are you sure you don't want any to-go? I know you're hungry." He then laughed and continued to make fat jokes straight to his face. It took all I had to keep my mouth shut and not give him a piece of my mind. We will NEVER be coming here ever again. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not waste your money here. If it's Mexican food you're looking for head down the road a ways to La Botana. They are a million times better in all aspects. read more

Nothing too special here, but it sure beats Gomez's! It was very nice and bright inside, chili-powdered chips and salsa were served for an appetizer and were quite good! Drinks were also delivered quickly and tasted fine! I am kind of saddened to not have a place to go here in Brownwood with fine tequilas to sample, and their alcoholic beverage menu was minimal. I had the World Famous enchiladas de pollo con mole served with Spanish rice and a little bit of lettuce and tomato. The mole was not thick and spicy and sweet as I was hoping for. It was thin and bitter and lacked excitement. I'm starting to see that Brownwood is really lacking spice. The enchiladas were good otherwise. They do not serve a verde sauce; only chili sauce or sour cream. My wife had the sour cream topped cheese enchiladas and it came with rice and beans. Pretty dull. BUT the refried beans had a wonderful ham/bacon flavor! I love anything with bacon, so that got them an extra star! The prices are low and the quality is better than average, so give it a shot! read more

I can hardly put into words how bad this place is. It was late on a Saturday when I went, very little traffic. I don't eat a lot of meat so was trying to find something appealing. Decided I'd ask for a special order, way out of this world i know, Chicken Fajita Quesadilla's. Figured they had chicken fajita's, tortillas, so I'd see if they could combine them. Nope. waiter said the kitchen rarely makes exceptions but he would check. Once he returned, nope, no exception. What i ended up ordering I don't even remember, it was so uneventful. And I was just surprised the owner/cook would not simply try to make a customer happy when they carried and did have ready the ingredients I asked for. Won't be back, ever. Emilio's is always a safe bet for our crew. They have gluten-free options for our GF kids, and many other favorites for the husband and I. The tamales are good. We eat them with no sauce and can really appreciate the seasoned masa. The charro/borracho (sp?) beans are not to be missed! Soo tasty. This is a very solid Mexican restaurant for the area. Not the best ever, but the service is always great and the owner is a super nice guy. The chicken flautas are big and flavorful. We've gone here several times and have never had chili powdered chips, but that does sound really good. Must have been something they were trying out. The fajitas aren't as flavorful as i'd like but the grilled pork tenderloin is very flavorful. Overall, I'd say a solid B+ with some homerun A days. read more

I eat here pretty regularly and have never had the type of service that the other reviewers have claimed. The servers are attentive and quiet for the most part. I am overweight myself and have never been treated horribly by the male waiter, who tends to serve me regularly. The margaritas are good and fairly priced, and the specials are always good. I LOVE the Chile Relleno. IT IS AWESOME, and is on special once a week, I think on Thursdays. The chicken enchiladas are excellent and are also featured on special nights. You get to chose between refried or borracho beans, my suggestion is the borracho, although in fairness, I have never ordered the refried. I just love the borracho beans. read more

Greasy Greasy! My tacos had so much grease dripping out of them they were awful and waitress did nothing. Cheap beef. Some items are pretty good. The mole is not traditional but was good. Enchiladas are greasy. The atmosphere is dated and cramped. Another time, the owner is cloyingly nice to customers but embarrassed us by his rude and mean comments to a server in front of us. Poor taste. Felt sorry for server who did good job for us. Service has usually been good. But, we will not return.
