Carroll Seghers started his jewelry career as an advertising executive for Gruen watches. in Cincinnati Ohio in the 1930's he purchased his first jewelry store and named it Carroll's Jewelers. After a few years he relocated to Coral Gables where he hosted a public TV program called Facets. The show led him to open this Las Olas Carroll's Jewelers. Carroll's is one of the original stores in the Las Olas shopping district. Carroll's daughter Jeanne Ann and son in law Robert Moorman took over ownership of the Las Olas store. Carroll's Jewelers is now owned by the fourth generation of the Moorman family. A pair of earrings caught my eye and Emily came over to help me. They have a lot of beautiful new jewelry and one of a kind estate sale pieces ranging from $150 to many thousands of dollars. They also have a custom design team and a repair department. In addition to jewelry they also sell gifts which include frames, platters, and glass pieces. The store is elegant and beautifully decorated for the holidays. After speaking with Emily it was easy to see why you would choose to shop here. Carroll's offers superior customer service and experience.

After being surprised by Josef's approximately $900 quote to replace the movement of the watch (a standard quartz movement that itself is available for sale online for ~$40) I took the watch to JR Dunn in Pompano--an authorized Tag dealer and repair shop, where Josef's is not--and was quoted less than $300 to have the entire job done, by Tag themselves, with a warranty. The store on Sterling Road in Hollywood is large, with an abundance of merchandise. I found DSH after looking at many jewelry stores. First I was looking to repair my engagement ring, then I decided to reset it. I then changed my mind again and decided to make an entirely new ring out of diamond studs I was given (since I do not wear earrings). Believe it or not, it is not easy to find nice settings for two diamonds. I soon realized the setting would have to be custom made. So I first looked at my neighborhood jewelers. One of them in Davie, Maurice at Maurice's Jewelry Box said that I should really go to his parent's store as they had a bigger selection. So that's how I ended up at DSH. I found a picture online had it copied. It was a beautiful vintage setting. The first wax model did not turn out quite as I wanted it the first time so Helaine and Daniel sent it to someone else to be redone at their expense. When it was finally complete, I loved the finished product! I then had DSH take my original engagement diamond to make a beautiful halo pendant. Another job I was very happy with! Since then, I have gone to the store to have my watch and jewelry repaired. Their jeweler is very experienced and does a great job. Helaine is so warm and friendly. From the moment I met her she made me feel like family. I think I have bought my share of jewelry for a long time. But it's nice to know that if I need anything, Helaine and Daniel are there.
