I won't delve deeply beyond that on him other then to say while he "gets the job done" he's does so with the absolute minimum in personality . Why have someone at a service counter who can't be "friendly" with customers. I really question the management because I'm sure they are fully aware. At least they SHOULD be. So that being said I went there today to get my lunch and a couple of other things. Business as usual. I didn't hear him clean his phlegm today so I felt really lucky. So I get to the front and they have lines and I go to self check out. Fine. I quickly scan my stuff and attempt to pay. The register asks if o want cash back, so I say yes! Of course I would! Then I see that they have these posted signs that say no cash back. So the machine has a melt down. I wait a couple of moments . And this middle aged woman ...with gray mid length hair comes up behind me to "help". She doesn't greet me or apologize she proceeds to scold me. And I defend my self and say , well the machine said I could , apologizing. I really didn't care if I could get cash I just did cuz the machine asked. So I'm like that's confusing for the customer to this woman. And she starts pushing back at me and I simply said" well, let's fix and move on". I just wanted to get though to move on in my day, cuz you know, I have to make money to pay the high prices at Metcalfs. At that point she took offense and said "you don't have to talk to me like that". And I got confused. "Fix it and move on" apparently is a foreign concept for the folks at Metcalfs. Okay. So at that point I'm done. I talk her to let it go . I thank her and tell her to have a nice day and I won't be back. I at that point leave and head elsewhere for lunch, I got Chipotle . Fair. As it was I decided to call the store and let them know ...the manager ... Chris ...who seemed very distracted and busy on the phone. So I think it's fair to say also not focused on the customer experience. I let him in on my experience. He apologized and asked me to return . I told him , no thanks. As it turns out the transaction did go though and the manager had to call me back to come retrieve my monies . Which I am loathe to do. You know as consumers we all have choices and we make those choices on something called "value". That equation is essentially a comparison analysis of price and perceived benefits . At this , based on prior and today's experience, Metcalfs fails. They get by on pretense over substance. I will not be retuning.

I think this is mostly because ya'all think there is a correlation between the dollar amount and meat quality. Jacobson brothers did not come to the rescue when I needed a 8 pound fresh ham to brine. Knoche's did. Knoche's seems to carry every part of the cow and pig. Some parts are not on display in the case, and are hidden away in the basement freezer. I found this out on my most recent meat hunt -- for short ribs. Ask the the cute aproned men to run down and get them. While not the cheapest priced cuts in town, they are reasonably priced and fairly high quality. Furthermore, you can feel good shopping at a locally owned joint. They also have family recipes of chili, potato salad, bratwursts, etc that I am always tempted to try.
