Beautiful looking place. A lot more seating outside than inside. Only problem is that the outside (screened in) part has a lot of hookah smokers and we weren't prepared for that. My eyes were burning from the second we walked in. Food - beautiful presentation. Not expensive. Onion soup wasn't good. Bad croutons and the soup tasted too beefy bouillon. Greek salad was ok but it was more like a shepherd salad My friends had steak salads which they enjoyed. No clue why they say they don't have tap water!!! First place in my life that you can't get regular water so you have to pay for a bottle. Desert tres leches was ok. I've had better. There's a 15% tip added in the bill and we were only 3 people. I had a really lovely night at Emmons Palace! I had a girls night out on a Thursday and really enjoyed a chill fun time -- this is definitely a great spot to hangout with friends and enjoy drinks and dinner. We shared a few appetizers including the salmon tartare, pear salad & the mussels. My fav was the refreshing salad & the flavorful mussels with cheesy bread. For our entrees we had the lobster ravioli which was a wow for me, so yummy and the baked salmon steak with mashed potatoes. The lychee martini was delicious -- perfect amount of sweetness. We got the pineapple head ($45) but it doesn't even make a difference. They cover it up with aluminum so you don't even see it. To start off, this restaurant does not offer free tap water, which I have not seen in any other NYC restaurant. You have to pay $4 for a small bottle of water. The duck was super dry and flavorless. It was called sweet duck but the only thing "sweet" about it was the sauce on the side which honestly tasted like store bought teriyaki sauce and I would not be surprised if that's what it was. The restaurant was nice enough to take this meal back. We also got the Bronzini. It was a small and honestly laughable portion size. It also lacked any flavor. Would not recommend getting it. This was my first time at Emmons Palace but I am so gladly surprised. The stuff is super friendly and attentive. Indoor and outdoor decorations are so cozy and summary. The restaurant gives you a vacation vibe especially with their playlist. And the FOOD!!!!! The food is so delicious and so fresh. I am really impressed with the menu and how perfect everything came out. The portions are a good size and the pace is top notch. Did I mention hookah flavors? Go try it for yourself. Solid food and very fair prices. Shockingly good chicken wings and decent beers to accompany them. I wouldn't recommend the tuna tartar, but they have some really tasty paninis. Great location right across from the bay and a comfortable outside seating area that keeps comfortable even this far into the "off season". I prefer to sit in the front of the restaurants seating area rather than the parking lane seating area because of the lunacy of the drivers on Emmons Avenue and the road noise, but both areas are done nicely. read more

Finally they charge a gratuity fee for parties of four or more but that is not marked ANYWHERE. They have signs that say you must order $15 per person and 3% for paying which credit cards; you don't have a sign for parties of 4 or more. The service was horrible. We had to ask for water and refills, remind them about our food, hunt them down to get to go boxes and check. They were not slammed, in fact 5 were just hanging out in the restaurant v. Helping customers. we asked the manager because the service did not warrant a 15% tip. He just said "well that's the way it is if you had 6 or more it would be 20%. I saw so many bad reviews about this place but we had a pretty good experience here. We came here on Mother's day so it was very crowded everywhere. We didn't make a reservation but they still managed to give us some seats outdoor. Even though it was crowded but the food still came fast and not missing any order. The staff had a lot of energy to explain everything lol. Like when you ask 1 thing, he will answer 10 things lol. There were a few staff serving us, 1 got the order, 1 brought the food, 1 changed the water, 1 cleaned the table. One nice thing about this place was it's cold outside so the staff brought some blankets and wrapped us with them :) We got a bunch of food and we were satisfied with most of them such as salads, crab cakes, paninis, beef stroganoff, bronzini and san peter fish (the san peter fish was huge!). But the fungi pizza was pretty tasteless especially the mushroom on the pizza. We also ordered some desserts to finish our meal. The smetanik (I'm not sure if I spelled it right lol) was good, fruit tart was ok but I didn't like the chocolate lava much. The ice cream came half way melted, there was almost no running chocolate inside! They included 10% tip in the bill which was very nice because most people would tip from %15. At first I was going to give three stars because of the hookah but that would be petty since I knew smoking is done here. Besides, it is outdoors and it wasn't that bad. The food was excellent. I had the duck salad, prawns with black fettuccine and chicken wings. The duck was slightly disappointing because the skin wasn't crispy. I don't like poultry skin when it isn't roasted or fried throughly. I had to cut off the skin before I could eat the duck. The salad was fresh and tasty. I feel that i should review this place even though I haven't had the chance to try their dessert yet. We came here after having terrible food at El Greco and we walked down to Dessert Palace. They were in the process of putting the chairs and tables inside and They told us that they were closed. I jokingly said that we walked 3 miles just for dessert and it was a shame. And they rudely said "too bad , that sucks for you" The girls politely asked for take out menu so that they can take a look at it for next time. They just kept saying No, we're closed. And they added an unnecessary comment which just lost them 5 future potential customers, and since this is exposed on yelp (Possibly even a few dozen more customers lost). "We don't have take out menus like you chinese people, We're not a chinese restaurant". An Ignorant comment like that is just very unnecessary and rude. Since every restaurant I can possibly think of has a take out menu. If you're reading this guys. I know you can care less about what we think or how we feel. But I would hope you show your customers more respect and your service is nothing like what we witnessed that night. Althought the reviews weren't great we gave it a go regardless. We show up and see that about half the tables outside were empty. Concerned that they would be closing since it was almost nine were hopeful. Our only concern was for the smoke from the Hookah that floated around. They weren't closing soon, the attitude from the hostess as we disrupted her evening by asking for a table said it all. We were a party of five and she immediately barked at us "There is a $15 per person minimum if you want to sit here." What a joke, a per person minimum in a half empty restaurant and one that is a ridiculously small amount. I guess the business philosophy must be that making no money on an empty table isn't a loss... We took one look at the menu trying to find the confidence to give this a go. The desserts are definitely not made in-house and it is never consistent. Decent seating selection-inside and outside. I think I saw they have a $15 minimum per person during prime hours. That's completely unreasonable. I understanding maybe a $5 minimum but since you are essentially there for DESSERT, why would you have to pay $15 a person. Dessert, is on average, $5. My friends ordered 2 Rib Eye steaks, and they are huge meat lovers. After placing our order, we saw that the chef was angry with something. He looked through the glass windows with disgust and gave a bad time to the server. After 20 minutes, we got our steaks. There were fricking WELL DONEs and had 0 taste. CHEF has no idea how to cook meat properly. We had to eat one of them because we were very hungry. The guy offered us free sodas and removed one of the burnt chunks of beef from our bill. The food is simple and not heavily seasoned but does the job. There is outside seating and inside seating but if you want to do Hookah with your meal then you must sit outside.
