I ordered the ground beef empanada and the plain chicken empanada. My order was delivered through Grub Hub, who was great. My first time using GH. It was also my first time ordering from Empanada City. They sent me the wrong chicken empanada. They sent me the one with cheese, bacon, and chicken. I can't have pork or cheese. I swallowed one bite and realized it was wrong. It didn't taste bad, but taste more like bacon. My stomach is hurting and bubbling up. The beef empanada was just alright. I was shocked that they were so small also. In the pictures they look bigger but you can literally hold them with your first two fingers. They are more like little finger appetizers. I've had biggest that are a hand full. I guess that's fine that they were small. I didn't enjoy them as much I have others. I'm from out of town visiting. I won't go back there. I definitely want to try some other Cuban restaurants. I did call them back and the young lady who answered was very sweet and offered to refund me immediately without me having to ask. I got an email showing my refund before I even got off the phone with her. She was very apologetic and I appreciated that. Although I didn't enjoy them I'm not saying you shouldn't try them. Classic empanadas with one or two ingredients are $2 and signature empanadas are $3. They have sauces that go with the empanadas for 25c. This place is heaven. I've tried 5 empanadas here, ordered below from highest to lowest preference: 1. Ground beef ($2): Absolutely perfect. A classic flavor that reminds you of homemade cooking. 2. Sweet plantain and cheese ($2): Sweet and salty. Works well with a meat empanada pairing. 3. Ropa vieja (flank steak with peppers and tomato sauce ($3): Bold flavors and more liquid due to the tasty tomato sauce. 4. Plain chicken ($2): Shredded chicken. Taste is more plain than the ground beef, but still tastes homemade and delicious. 5. Broccoli and mozzarella ($2): my least favorite. The broccoli was cut into too fine pieces and the filling was sparse, with parts of the empanada having no filling. I can't wait to try the rest of their empanadas. My 15-year old and I stopped by Empanada City this past Sunday morning. Upon arrival we were greeted by this wonderful gentleman up-front, he appeared to be preparing the avocado sauces (Delish!) He was pleasant and friendly and gave us his recommendations upon learning this was our first time here. My daughter took the first bite and this was her very exact remark - "Wow, this is crack!" And, that's my review, plain & simple, "Wow, these empanadas are CRACK!" Holy shit, this place is amazing. I woke up to a random email from Amazon offering me $15 off food delivery through their system. Empanada City was an option. I had never heard of it, but I would basically just be paying the tip so I went for it. The shrimp empanadas were ridiculously good. In our culture, you often hear people say that something is "better than crack." Normally I just roll my eyes when I hear that. But let me tell you: I have smoked crack, and I have eaten Empanada City shrimp empanadas. The shrimp is the winner. I ate the broccoli and cheese empanada in about 4 seconds. I should have savored it, but it was too good. Last up was the guava and cheese. Epic. The red sauce -- whatever it is -- is amazing. FYI these things are not large. 1 is a snack. 2 is a light meal. They told the kitchen not to make my order. After waiting 30 minutes and watching several people come in after me receive their food, ate then left I inquired about my order. These empanadas are so delicious that I don't mind paying the delivery fee. I have been ordering from here for about a year now and I have tried nearly all of them at this point. My favorites include the spinach and ricotta, the chicken with bacon, beef, steak, apple and cheese. I will certainly keep supporting this business because they make some of the best empanadas I have ever had in my life. Be sure to spring for a side or two of the avocado sauce because it takes the flavor from great to amazing! I do wish they they didn't use third party delivery service as I did have an issue once with my food not arriving and as nice as they restaurant staff was there wasn't anything they could really do about my food not arriving. *****I would like to update to include that the service I received today minutes after writing this review from a woman employee "Arianna" or "Arabella" (something with an A) was extremely poor. I called to inquire about the status of my order after it was 30 minutes past the delivery time. and she told me it is not her responsibility to let me know that there was a delay with my delivery and that I should call Grubhub. Timely service, affordable and tasty. Initially learned of location while scrolling on seamless app. It wasn't to far from my job so opted to place my own pickup order through their site. I got there a little earlier then my designated pickup time, staff was friendly and my order was ready; I was in and out. Has become my go to for ordering to go empanadas. Have had a mix of experiences including a late delivery and an incorrect order, but more often than not this place is solid, those are the only items standing between a 5 star review, because when the orders are right and food still hot, these empanadas are amazing. Great flaky crust holds ingredients in perfectly and add just a bit of flavor. The wide variety of fillings offers something for everyone, and the creative combinations are all nailed. My favorites include the Americana, Chicken (which includes bacon and cheese), the Ropa Vieja (which is essentially a philly cheesesteak in an empanada) and the cuban (a great execution of a classic). Stopped by here after work because I was really craving some food. I got three empanadas and they were all so delicious! The sizes are pretty big - they aren't your standard just over bite size empanadas! I got the beef, spinach and cheese, and chicken empanadas. The cheese was definitely my favorite - it had a medley of cheeses that worked so well together. The beef was pretty subpar comparatively. It was just basic ground beef and really needed some cheese or something but there were more expensive versions that would probably be better. The decor was also really cute if the place! One downside is you have to pay for the sauces. What are empanadas without sauce besides dry? I figure they can throw in one or two free. It's not expensive, just annoying. read more

The service was great I order online it was ready before my estimated time for pick up. I didn't have to guess which empanada was which because it had the initial on the actual empanada. And since I'm a vegetarian this was a big help. The empanadas we're actually really good my favorite was the mixed vegetables, even my boyfriend loved the mixed vegetables and he tried the one with fish, the American, and the beef. I also ordered a smoothie I think it was the pineapple I can't remember the exact name but it was also awesome. The inside is decorated nice like a modern rustic very cozy. Love love love the grease free pastry, the filling was tender and there was a lot of it, and the avocado dipping sauce was excellent! UPDATE: 6 months later and I still consistently frequent this place. Whether it's to-go or dine-in, I've always had a wonderful experience. My favorite empanadas by far are the Shrimp and Americana options, so much so that I struggle to try something new because they are THAT good. However, don't sleep on the smoothies! Huge fan of Brianna's Banana Berry Smoothie that is not too heavy, but has just enough to hold me over for a quick and sweet afternoon snack. Overall still a great place to patron. The staff is lovely and always open to menu suggestions. Also love the decorations for each holiday--can't get enough of this place! read more

Finally writing a review after my 5th or 6th visit here. Great addition to the neighborhood. Staff is super friendly, the empanadas are delicious & they have a loyalty program where you get stars for every purchase then 20% off after 5 stars. My favorite is the ropa vieja & I'm not even a huge steak fan. My second favorite is the pastelon, which is ground beef, cheese & plantain. The chicken & shrimp empanadas are really good as well. It's a really nice getaway especially on a nice day. They open up the front windows so you could sit facing out looking at the bird feeder and all the bright plants that they have. I havent had all the flavors but i have had a lot of them. My go tos are the plain chicken, ropa vieja, and the shrimp empanada. Notr that sometimes the plain chicken can be a littlw dry. I have also had the pastelon, the cheese plantain, the spinach and cheese, and the signature chicken. They were all good but personally i dont think im a fan of plantains in my empanadas. Once in a while it is delicious but they are not always my go yo. The spinach and cheese is solid and the signature chicken tastes like the chicken bake from costco. If you like the chicken bake from costco i recommend it. I have only been here for weekday lunch and it always has been quick and pretty empty. When i go i usually get an avocado and a heat sauce. The avocado sauce is a creamy avocado sauce and the heat is a green spicy pepper based sauce. I like to mix the two since i find the avocado sauce a little bland and the heat a little too spicy. Came across this restaurant while we were waiting at the red light, decided to pull over and give this restaurant a try. Surprisingly the empanadas weren't bad. My bf and I ordered, 1 cheese, 1 Bacalao and 3 Pastelons. They were very generous with the fillings. The Pastelon was de.li.cious!!!! The cheese was okay and the Bacalao is extremely salty!!! I had to remove the Bacalao filling just to eat the exterior. I did not want to increase the blood pressure from eating 1 empanada. Overall I would try the restaurant again for more Pastelon :) By the way, I would strongly suggest you order ahead of time online. There was a line when we got there.
