As a Filipino, it is nice to know there is a food truck in Maine where there's not really much places that offer Filipino food. I almost went with chicken teriyaki skewers but I went with a classic pairing of pancit (Filipino style stir fry noodles) and a variety of lumpia (Filipino style fried spring rolls) with sweet chili sauce instead. It was priced at $15 which was quite reasonable. One of my granddaughters loved the pancit and kept asking for more. My other granddaughter just wanted mango juice which she liked. Ate Emily (the chef owner) was personable and kind. She even had some candy for the kids to choose from. Speaking of fillings, mine was *stuffed* with cheese, beans, and diced plantains, making for a filling meal. Lastly, the sauces you get to pick with your arepa round out for needed freshness. I tried both the sweet red and cilantro, and they complemented my arepa well. Though this was my first time trying Columbian arepas, I hope it won't be my last. I was thrilled with my experience at Maiz and wish them many more years of serving Portland.

We started with chips and salsa and some queso, which were the perfect kickoff. Then we ordered the street corn succotash, my absolute favorite. It's packed with flavor and topped with the most delicious, salty cotija cheese that pulls everything together. I crave that dish. We split the smoked brisket tacos and the smoked pork carnitas tacos, and both were outstanding. The meat was smoky and tender, the flavors were bold without being overdone, and every bite delivered. And the margaritas? Excellent and refreshing. Exactly what you want alongside that food. On top of all that, the staff is consistently wonderful. Every single time we've gone, our waitstaff has been charming, attentive, and genuinely helpful with recommendations. I counted 18 olives in a small serving. I mean I dont mind olives but not that much. I ordered rice with guandules and I feel I got rice with olives.
