Great place for Latin American cuisine after a morning visit to explore Two Lights State Park in July 2026. My wife, two sons, and I enjoyed a delicious lunch of yuca fries (superb diced cubes with the mayo sauce), arepas, Cuban sandwich (shredded pork, ham, pickle, and cheese), and a special lunch with various items. Also, the service was friendly and welcoming! Parking is easy (it's in a strip mall next to CVS Pharmacy and an IGA supermarket). Mighty tasty spot! We started with the appetizer tostones which can with delicious guac. We also had an arepa, arroz con pollo, and the pabellon bowl. Everything was fresh and tasty. My son had the churros for dessert which he also enjoyed. It was easy to see what was gluten free and the staff were really sweet. It was a cold day but I would have enjoyed trying a few other things including the juices and smoothies. read more

For the first time in four years I stopped in, and boy, I am so glad.The empanada I got, black bean and cheese, was as good as I remembered. Hot and crispy with great beans. The cheese arepa was huge--enough for two, and just as delicious. Plantains were on point and sweet. I will confess that my eyes rolled back in my head, they were so good. Service was with a smile. Wow! What a hidden gem, I'm so glad Yelp pointed out this spot featuring Peruvian dishes. I have always wanted to try an Arepa and by golly it was outstanding. (I tried the Arepa de Mi Tierra with steak, I highly recommend.) I also ordered some Gorditas and they were unlike anything I have tried before, so crispy and fresh. I can't wait to go back, next time we'll eat in the restaurant vs takeout as is such a sweet spot. Check it out, you won't regret it! read more

I will tell you that I was completely surprised and excited to experience the food here at this small location in Cape Elizabeth. It doesn't look like much in this small plaza but the flavors and the quality of the food packed a good punch. The service was very friendly (they were so accommodating to the questions that we had and they seemed excited to explain it which makes a difference) and the desserts were unique and delicious. The guac was delicious and the Caribbean cone was something to behold made with plantains .... you don't get too many places that use these delicious banana like things! I will definitely be back. Tostones is a CUTE place in Cape Elizabeth on the way to kettle cove and two light. It's got tropical vibes inside and a very extensive menu, lots of fruity drinks, and ample seating. I ordered a guanabana smoothie and a cone .. the drink was fruity and delish and the cone came out on a freaking car. Soooo cute!!! First time here and we will be back! This is casual dining and nothing fancy but it's fast, delicious and you get a lot of food for your money. Wonderful to eat some real Latin food for a change! This place has the most wonderful owner, it's always a delight to feel you are really cared about. He took the time to go over several items on the menu (there are so many!) to help us find what we were looking for. The tostones with guac app was my favourite but the arepas are amazing, very very filling so don't over order like we did . Imagine an ice cream waffle cone made out of thin plantain, with the consistency of a nacho chip. Well that's the cone! The inside is stuff with various delicious items: sweet plantain, avocado, cream, beans, shredded seasoned beef... you don't have to have this exact combo, this was just what I had. We started with chicharrones , which tasted like thick bacon pieces so good with this sauce called hoaga'o a tomato based sauce so good We order classic mojito (me) and wife got a Colombian Michel Ada she loved it I got the Caliente burrito so filling I could only eat 1/3 of it my wife got the Caribbean Cone it was awesome also. The food is great lots of flavor and the place is def Latin American cuisine. Had a great meal and drinks for like $60 and they offer a 3.5% cash discount for the old people like me who pays in cash. If you've ever been to Colombia and had an arepa, then you definitely need to check out Tostones Cafe. They have an array to choose from along with other delicious goodies to choose from. As much as I wanted to order multiple arepas. If you are a party of one I suggest just getting one. I ordered myself the tropical arepa. 3.5 stars. The seating is strange and the vibe is a bit off but the food. Oh the food. The caliente burrito is amazing. Sliced onions, rice, roast with a heap of guac on top. Smothered with a cheese sauce. Just the right mix of heat and flavor. Chicken arepa's with garlic sauce are perfectly cooked and delicious. These churros are the type of churros that you should be driving close to an hour for. They are the most legit churros in the area. They're also stuffed with dulce de leche which is really the only way a churro should be served. If you're not in the mood for sweets, the arepas and cones are so good. So...we stopped in for lunch during the shoulder season. Inexplicably, we were the only people there from 11:30-12:30, with the exception of three people picking up to-go orders. The gentleman up front gave us some excellent advice on what to order, and long story short: we were not disappointed. Our meals were hot, flavorful, and complex, and very different from one another. We also got a fancy milkshake-like beverage which was delicious, and the man who served us checked in several times to ensure we were happy. Carnitas would be a better choice if you are looking for something lighter. Also had a cool, yummy smoothie! Ok. This is really a great restaurant for what it is. It is Latin based, and the food is terrific. I HIGHLY recommend the burritos. Our family is a bit addicted to the restaurant right now. There are limited options in the area for this type of food, so it's a great addition. The only issue with the restaurant is that it would likely do much better if they were not located in an old strip mall type setting. In other words, the setting is not great, but the quality and price of the food overshadows that negative. Honestly, we really hope they make it as this is a great addition to a limited Cape Elizabeth restaurant scene. read more
