This bagels shop has speciality favors bagels such as sundried tomatoes, blueberry, French toast, etc. I find the bagels a little chewy. Maybe it need to be toasted? I went to this establishment practically every weekend to get bagels and iced coffee over the summertime. Bagels are fresh, soft and very tasty. I have never had a complaint til recently. I placed an order for 5 bagels and he messed up my entire order. Then to top it off I didn't receive an apology, all he did was charge me extra after he messed up. What kind of way is that to treat a paying customer? He should have apologized and fixed my order. I told him he should listen more carefully next time. One of the biggest blows that really hit home after moving out of Queens was the mediocre quality of bagels found in the Bronx.. We could never really understand how people started their weekends properly until driving past a ferocious three and a half block deep line under the L on Westchester Ave in Pelham Bay on a rainy Sunday morning. No, they weren't showcasing the latest iPhone or Justin Beaver concert tickets.. These folks were honestly and willingly saturating themselves in rain just to get a shot at bringing home to their family what was left of the best bagels, by far, in the borough. I will start by saying I am very particular about my bagels. They are my favorite way to have just about anything especially a nice coffee and bagel with butter to begin my morning. My husband and I came here (me not knowing as it was his random morning surprise to have something delicious on our day off) I got out of the car wondering.. What in the world were we going to do.. As we stood in line I smelled the delicious baked bagel smell it was heaven to my nose. Yes there was a line, it is THAT GOOD ! (this place is outdoor. No seating, no going inside, so bundle up if it's cold.) Finally reaching the front I requested a lightly toasted plain bagel with butter. The gentlemen informed there's no need to toast it I have plain bagels coming out hot and fresh as we speak. Now I'm really blown away .. Oh they make their bagels right there where you can actually see them. I love that so much. He gave my husband and I our bagels.. If the smell wasn't enough, that first bite was glorious to say the least. I haven't had a bagel so delicious and fresh like this ever ! I was completely consumed with the fresh soft with a perfect crisped buttered bagel. I would definitely recommend you to try it, WARNING once you do try it you might never be able to stop craving their delicious bagels. Tried the begals here today and they were quite good...prices could have a little better though, I paid $9.00 per dozen (plain). I can get quality begals at the local Foodtown for $.60 each which is good price and works out to $7.20 per dozen (when they have them since they go quick). read more

Great bagels, fast and friendly customer service. The walnut raisin cream cheese is a favorite of ours, while I also recently tried the sundried tomato bagel with olive cream cheese - also great. The line looks long sometimes but it moves fast. I have only been here on weekends and can't speak for weekdays but I imagine it's similar, maybe a little more crowded because of the commuters. read more

This is a walk up bagel joint that's open in the morning only. Not sure what time they close, but once they are out of bagels, that's it. They also sell muffins, which aren't as good as the bagels. The choices are listed outside, and they run out of the more popular ones early on. My personal favorite is the blueberry. This place is cheap too! Forget dunkin donuts. This is the best small bagel shop I have ever been to! It's a small place right in Bronx, and luckily like everything in the city (or almost) it was within walking distance of our Airbnb. They do bagels, all Togo. There is no seating area. You can get bulk or buy one, toasted or not, with a plethora of cream cheese. My favorite was the Lox cream cheese and you can tell it's homemade. My friend lives a few blocks away, and I was craving carbs and cream cheese for breakfast. :) They have a cute little walk-up window type situation going on here, but I'm sure it's less than pleasant in the winter. Their bagels are freshly baked, with a light and almost fluffy texture. Can't go wrong with their whole wheat and lox spread, which doesn't skimp on the smoked salmon. Maybe I'm just used to Queens being crazy expensive for smaller bagels, but my jaw almost dropped when he paid less than $9 for three. Soooo cheap! My only complaint would be their cash-only policy, and the fact that they close at noon. Selection isn't very good by 11am, as they've already sold out of most of their variety. read more

Order on line on the sidewalk and receive the freshest warmest most delicious bagel ever. Crispy on the outside with that fluffy chewy goodness on the inside you expect from a good boil and bake. I saw this spot driving by..with a line which sparked my curiosity...I have been in the Bronx for a few years and haven't found a good spot for when my bagel cravings hit (maybe because Im a late riser and this spot is only open until noon)..We tried yesterday passing by after the errand/appointment I was on my way to when I saw the line, but they were clean sold out.. To my surprise..& because I have a thoughtful, amazing man..the this morning he had to take his mom to the airport at 6am..Given we were up late/him up early..we slept in and we sleep with bedroom door closed, I had no idea.. but I wake up this morning to start breakfast & I walk out of my bedroom to the to the kitchen smelling like fresh bagels.. I thought maybe it was D&Ds as that used to be only option in bronx for bagels & where he usually does drive through, but to my surprise, waiting in the toaster oven, he wrapped up and left for me an everything bagel with jalapeno cream cheese (my fav!!); it was still warm 3 hours later & bagel was so fresh, soft, AND delicious!! FIRST TIME trying Empire Bagels, but it wont be our last..Theyve definitely made a new customer!! Thanks for making a quality product!! read more
