We visited today and the experience was honestly shocking. We waited for 30 minutes and actually had to interrupt the owner just to place our order because she was so busy taking phone orders... When we finally got her attention, she was annoyed and told us that even if we ordered now, our food wouldn't be ready for a long time. When I tried to ask a simple question about if the dish was using green or red peppers, she rolled her eyes and snapped, "I already told you it's spicy" At that point, we lost our appetite and walked out. While we understand that it was a busy Saturday, the owner's attitude made it clear she didn't care about the customer experience. A simple "thank you for waiting" would have changed everything, but instead, we were met with hostility. Last week went in for lunch with a friend. We were seated quickly and server took our order. We ordered from the lunch menu. The hot and sour soup was neither. The fried wonton strips tasted stale. The food came out quickly and were large portions. But there was little difference between the Sesame Chix and the Orange Chix. We had ordered them medium spicy. Appeared to have no spice in them. This place is convenient. But it tends to be up and down for the quality of the food. Some days it is good and other days, not so much. read more

I was just introduced to this gem of a place. To me the indicator that food will be good when you see two types of menu American version and Traditional Chineese version. The place itself is big with extra private and semi private rooms for large gatherings, plenty of booth around, no frills but clean and tidy. All our waitresses have been great helpful and knowledgeable recommended certain dishes based on preference choices. Onto the food we have tried off of both menus, crab ragoon was perfectly crispy with nice balance of crab and cream cheese. General Tao chicken was lightly battered with good sauce, shrimp fried rice plenty of shrimp, beef lomein was flavorful. Off the traditional chineese menu we had: appetizers shredded cucumber with garlic sauce crunch and spicy went so well with fried rice. Wood ear in vinegar was a first but unexpectedly so good. Main dishes: Sautéed beef with scallions, spicy jumbo shrimp, fried whole fish with spicy black bean sauce to die for, and off the menu crawfish cooked in spicy sauce was off the charts. I kept on saying I didn't want to order more dishes and they kept on pushing me to order more. I went with my two coworkers (Native Chinese) and the Food was AMAZING! They were so impressed as well- everything was fresh and very tasty. The garlic green beans are a must!!! Perfectly made and so flavorful! Not pictured is the beef with scallions dish- which was also delicious! They also have a wide variety in their menu, per my coworkers it includes most of the different regions of Chinese cuisine. Apart from their traditional menu they have a more Americanized one too, which is perfect and still just as authentic and delicious. 100% recommend this place- we will be coming back in this trip. Lo mein noodles are practically boiled egg noodles and thrown in a wok a few times with some basic soy sauce. Maybe I ordered from the wrong menu. I mean it was the ABC menu (American Born Chinese) where it was Americanized. (I can say this candidly as a Chinese person who has also worked in her own family business before my parents retired). The prices here are ridiculous for the amount of food they give you. The next time I had a craving for breaded Chinese chicken, I went to trader Joes and got the orange chicken mix for $5 and fed my entire family. Definitely a hidden gem of a place. My friend said i's always a good sign when all the people coming in are asian because they know where the best food is! I have kind of given up on Yelp but I feel like this was worth writing a review for. The last time I ate here a few years ago it was fantastic. I had some sort of Szechuan squid dish that was great and had my mouth absolutely buzzing with both regular and Szechuan chili pepper flavor. I noticed they were on Uber eats and was really in the mood for something more authentic then the usual Chinese food. Everything I ordered was pretty awful. The Szechuan chicken was bone in chopped chicken which I am OK with. But each piece had small bone fragments in the meat. No matter how careful or how small a bite I tried to take I got a rock hard inedible bone fragment. After I piled up a third of the entree as a mound of barely eaten chicken pieces I gave up. It was very oily and had just the faintest hint of Szechuan peppers too which was the final nail in the coffin. The pork with hot peppers was just an oily pile of pork and green bell peppers. No heat or flavor at all remotely. Scallion pancake was a super greasy mess with barely any scallions in the entire thing and certainly no scallion flavor. The pan dumplings were not even that good. The universal frozen dumplings most places serve are actually better than this. The sauce for the dumplings and scallion was so watery I resorted to drinking it out of the container as dipping it was pretty much flavor less. I have been extremely reluctant to leave bad reviews at places due to the whole Covid thing. But the food is just getting so crap and I paid 60 bucks for this. I have not worked for 2 years and this was a birthday treat to myself and I might as well have lit my money on fire. 17 buck entrees should not suck. They should be amazing. This seems to mirror the trend of the food just getting awful in SE MI. Or at least the West side burbs. read more

Food safety issue, rotten fish cause illness. I wanted to treat my mom a nice authentic Chinese lunch before she flying out from Detroit airport to China. The waiter recommended the $34.95 steamed fish head to us. When served, the fish head was covered by a lot of seasonings. We felt the fish head tasted funky so I express my concern to the waiter since we really afraid of getting ill on an international flight. The waiter claimed that the funky taste was from the seasoning not the fish. We end up eating half of the fish. Yum! We knew it was going to be good by the amount of people that were in the parking lot on a Saturday night. The service was excellent and the food was hot, fresh and flavorful. We will soon return. We ordered won ton and hot and sour, both good with fresh veggies. All of us ordered dinner combos; I got the house specialty; Empire Dynasty. Shrimp, scallops, beef, chicken and crab. The shrimp were big and tasty. Imitation crabmeat, but good texture. Yummy brown sauce that is not overly greasy. My auntie ramped and raved about this place. Mainly because of childhood memories. The soup was warm. I like steaming hot soup. The sauce was very bland for the Szechuan chicken. The picture shows whole chili peppers in the dish, there was only flakes in it. That was also warm(temperature). The spring roll was cold. Only thing that came out hot was the tea. I can see this is a favorite for the oriental ethnicity. There were tables full of families. On the weekends dinner starts at 3pm not 4pm. I did not enjoy the food, mainly because nothing was hot. This review is only for Korean-Chinese food. Parked and walked in. There was a customer with a take out food waiting (I wasn't sure if she was waiting to pay or not) and there was a lady standing behind the counter, her back to the door, looking at her phone and drinking tea. After five minutes, a male walks up to the customer waiting with the take out, I guess she wanted something extra with her order, after dropping off the items for the customer, the male turns to me asks how many, I said one. I got seated at the booth, reviewed the menu and then went with the following. - jjajangmyung - Tangsuyuk Tangsuyuk came out first, looked like the standard dish you'll find at other restaurants, but at this place, they added bamboo shoots and ginger to the dish. Unfortunately that ginger overpowered the sauce and bamboo shoots also did not help. They serve the dish with the sauce on top, most other joints will serve the sauce separately (I'm sure they will serve the sauce separately if you ask). Very different take on Tansuyuk. What would I change about this dish? First of all, remove the bamboo shoot and ginger and add bit more of vinegar to the sauce. Jjajangmyung - There's two things I like about this dish - 1) price and 2) portion size. It's below $9 and they give you lot of noodles for single order. Unfortunately, that's all I liked about this dish. The sauce is on salty side, in fact, this dish reminded me of the Beijing Jjajangmyung and this dish is nowhere close to the Korean-Chinese version... Also, on the menu, they called this the samsung Jjajangmyung (seafood version), but the only seafood in this dish is shrimp, cooked with pork and minced onions and zucchini. If they are going to call it samsung jjajangmyung, they need to add more seafood items to the dish. Overall, not impressed with the Tansuyuk or Jjangmyung. I'll come back and try their sichuan menu offering next time. read more
