I would say if you are in the mood to splurge a little on fine authentic Chinese food whether it is for holiday or some special occasion this would be the place to do it. The ambience is fancy with good decorations and lighting. The menu is well structured with pictures and ingredients which is listed so there is no confusion on what you're getting. The flavor of all the dishes we have done so far has been good without being overly too salty or oily. We got the sour fish fillet, happy family soup, pork belly and pepper dish. All the dishes were pretty authentic and well made with good flavor. We liked the happy family soup ($36) and the sour fish the best. Although the pork and pepper dish was good it was not special as we thought we could easily make it at home. Although it is expensive relatively to other Chinese restaurants the portion size is not low and the quality is high. I would come back for some other special occasion to try other dishes. Everything on their menu looks worth trying. The service was okay and not the best. We were there at 11:29 and the waitress purposely went to the front door to flip the sign to closed so that we could not enter for one more minute. The service during dining was okay. I heard about ShiangMi, an upscale Hunan restaurant, from both my family and Chinese friends still living in Metro Detroit. The interior is modern and elevated, and the service was attentive. My married friends and I made a reservation (via OpenTable) for dinner yesterday, and we ordered food pretty quickly. One by one, the dishes arrived pretty soon after. We ordered a chicken appetizer from the seasonal menu, though I can't recall its exact name. The chicken reminded me of Hainanese chicken, with tender thigh meat and smooth skin. It was topped with sesame seeds and braised in a soy sauce-based sauce that was quite oily. While the chicken texture was perfect, we found the flavors to be a bit bland and the sauce didn't add much to it. S1 HAPPY FAMILY SOUP - 38 The chicken and pork broth was creamy, and it came with plenty of toppings like pork belly, pork trip, egg roll wrapped with meat, wood ear, quail eggs, and goji berries. The soup was flavorful and comforting without being overly rich. We enjoyed it, and each of us were able to get at least two bowls' worth, with some leftovers. We definitely would recommend the soup here. M4 STIR FRIED PORK W/ SHISHITO - 22 This is one of my friend's favorite dishes here, and he mentioned it's a Hunan classic. There are plenty of shishito peppers, probably more than the pork itself. The pork loin is thinly sliced, well-crisped, with a bit of heat, and seasoned perfectly with fermented black bean. This was quite delicious, and we'd definitely recommend it. V1 SAUTEED CABBAGE - 16 The sautéed cabbage isn't extraordinary, but if you're looking for a vegetable option and enjoy cabbage, it's a pretty good choice. The cabbage was stir-fried with dried chili and a tasty sauce. I personally enjoyed it, and it's one of my friend's favorites. M1 BLACK TRUFFLE SAUTE FREE RANGE CHICKEN - 29 The nicely seared chicken thighs were cooked with onions in a stone bowl. Upon first inhale (even before taking a bite), I could already taste the buttery, truffle flavors on my tongue. The chicken was incredibly juicy and tender, and I enjoyed this one too. The dishes we got here did not disappoint, and I'm glad I got to experience the food here with friends who know what to order. I've also heard good things about their Cantonese options, like the lobster and scallops, so I'll have to try those in the future. read more

We moved to FH a few months ago and have had some subpar Chinese so far until tonight. We got takeout, and it was fantastic. It's a bit pricy but you get a lot of food in my opinion. We split the general tso chicken, pork dumplings, egg rolls and "Chinese beignets". Everything was delicious and the spicy sauce was perfect. I would suggest any Chinese and/or Thai restaurant within a ten mile radius would give you better quality at a substantially cheaper price. The service was slow and the dishes came out super slow while we were the first table seated in the restaurant during a Saturday lunch and the place is not crowded at all. Not sure what they were busy with. We got the braised pork belly, which is excellent, and seems every table has one. The stir-fried beef with cilantro is tasty but has way too much cilantro than beef. The boneless chicken with black bean sauce is OK for me but my husband liked it more. Not impressed. As a matter of fact, for the price point this restaurant positioning itself to be - not worth the money. The entrance is pretty but when you enter the dining area it looks like it needs to be remodeled. While servers are friendly, the service is very slow and the dishes don't come out at the same time for the party. We had 6 people and some were already done with dinner while others still waiting. Menu selection is pretty good for the entrees, but appetizers are not much to choose from and way overpriced. I don't mind paying $30+ for entree but $20 for appetizer.., not for what is offered. As far as the taste, sweet & sour pork was excellent. Shredded pork and bamboo shoots was ok. A bit on a dry side. All in all, I don't think I'll be back. We went to the restaurant for Valentine's Day. The restaurant has some ambience. The food is so so when it comes out, the service is lousy at best as an example we ordered four dishes the beef and broccoli came out first 10 minutes later we got the vegetables 15 minutes later, we got the soup and after asking repeatedly for the tofu seafood continuously told us it was coming. It was coming in 30 minutes later still didn't have the dish the staff I'll be in very polite has very little understanding of English and therefore the communication must have been very bad even though they have numbers on all the items on the menu obviously something got lost in the translation so I wouldn't go back to this place. The restaurant is elegant and the prices, while slightly higher than other Asian restaurants, are very fair for the quantity and quality of the food. These reviews must be from the staff or family members. The only thing this place has going for it is the decor. And quite honestly they should've closed up because there was No Heat. However if the Food wasn't So Horribly Bland Not having Heat wouldn't have mattered. Service was Horrible! Everyone was confused and the waitress didn't check on us. We sat for an additional 20 minutes while two of the five staff members cleared the only other table that was there. We had to ask for silverware and napkins. Do to there being no heat they sat us in a private room and then "Accidentally" added a 20% gratuity on our bill for it. There literally was four people total including me and my husband and the other patrons had to ask for their bill and got the same "Accident" placed on their bill. Shrimp dumplings were okay, nothing special. The braised pork belly and seafood with veggies in xo sauce were both kind of bland. Visiting from out of town and just so happened to see this amazing looking restaurant located by our hotel. SOOOO happy we decided to pop in for dinner as this may well be the greatest Chinese food I've had to-date! The duck was an absolute standout dish and easily the greatest duck I've had anywhere including NYC and San Fran Chinatowns! We also had the pork and shishito peppers, which was incredible as well. If I lived here this would be an absolute staple for weekly dinners and/or to entertain out-of-town guests! Hats off to the owners and their amazing kitchen staff. One entree appeared at the table first. It was General Tso's chicken, a battered chicken with a sauce. No rice- have to order that separately. The broccoli was cold from refrigeration, and the chicken was barely warm. Sent it back. The other entree came out. It was ok. No sign of the appetizers. They came after this entree was finished. Then eventually the first entree. It wasn't much warmer, and I'd call the battered chicken sponge-like. The spring rolls were crispy outside and pasty inside. Dumplings were ok. My husband and I enjoyed our anniversary dinner at this restaurant and it was such a nice experience. We had the wood-ear mushroom to start off, stir fried pork with bamboo shoots, sweet & sour pork ribs and the steamed Boston Lobster. Every dish was nicely plated and very delicious; the mushrooms had a nice bite to them, the pork ribs were tender and fall off the bone & the Lobster was cooked perfectly. Everyone was very attentive to us and made sure that we had a nice dinner and the management even did something special for our anniversary.
