They have a lot to offer with reasonable prices... BUT I had a terrible expeirence. I had a big community day event in East Boston for a non-proft. I order a 15x15 bouncy house (which was the only thing good), a two hour facepainter and a cotton candy machine with an extra carton of sugar. The man for the bouncy house came in the morning, he was very friendly and set everything up, I tipped him. He was the same guy who came back at the end of the event, asked how it all went, took down the bouncy house and and packed it up, I tipped him again. He was very friendly! The cotton cady machine, they remove the button so the user does not switch the power level. I was not able to turn the machine down, so the cotton candy was flying everywhere, that was a big waste. I wasn't able to use the machine that I paid for, nor was I able to use the extra sugar catron for the machine that I paid for. AND they ignored my request for a pink sugar and a blue sugar. The face painter had to bring the correct sugar.... The face painter! Oh god, not only did she come 45 minutes late, but she was TERRIBLE! She "forgot" her book. She didn't do any characters. She did a terrible looking mask on a young boy. She used stencils to do small designs. She also had a younger girl and older man help her. I called the company to complain. I was able to get a refund on the cotton candy machine ($60 out of $75), and $40 back from the facepainter, which cost me $200. I WOULD NEVER RENT WITH THEM AGAIN. read more

They say black folks should support black businesses and I try to do that but it is black owned businesses like Empire Party Rental and a few others that make you not want to deal with black owned businesses. EPR lacks customer services skills, they don't correct their errors even when their contract states otherwise. I ordered a grill and a port a potty from EPR for my non profit's memorial classic last year. However, we woke up to the pouring rain and I called EPR to inquire about having the items that I rented delivered on the following Saturday and he refused. Their contract states they will call you 3 days prior to the event to confirm the event is still happening not only did they not call me but they delivered the grill and port a potty on Friday with my name on it but I didn't get to use. Both items remained at the park until that Monday. I was notified by people at the park that there was a port a potty and a grille there with my name on it. Their contract states they will honor contract if you reschedule within 365 days, that's a lie because I rescheduled for the following Saturday and he denied it. I now have a small claims suit against EPR for $400 dollars. I want my $400 dollars! read more

I rented a popcorn machine for a work party, and my experience was great. The booking process online was easy, they called me to confirm I understood their policies, and all the people I interacted with at their facility were helpful and friendly. The machine worked great, and drop off/pick up were both quick and painless. Only thing that caught me off guard is that along with your license, they require you let them scan your car registration as well. Not sure what people do who don't have it handy for whatever reason. My wife contacted them and we rented two tents three table and thirty chairs for a brunch. They were late delivering the equipment and then told me that they do not set up the tables and chairs. I had to offer them a tip to set up the tables, they never set up the chairs. The chairs were fold up chairs that were so cheap and flimsy they sagged when I who weigh 190 pounds sat in them. I was embarrassed for our guests to sit in them. The rental contract said the brunch was over at 2 and the woman in the office said the equipment would be picked up 8 the next morning. Much to our surprise, the workers were back at my house at 1:55 looking to take down the tents and gather the tables and chairs. They literally were moving our guests away from the table and out of the flimsy chairs. When they came to pick it up the kids were still using it and they wanted to take it. This wasn't prt of the agreement. They were scheduled to pick it up the following day. I am still in shock in the service I received. I went online and filled out all the information regarding my venue and what I needed etc. I immediately got a call from Empire representative. She went over every detail even time I can pick up and have to drop off. She discussed pricing and conversation ended. Prior to my church event date, I had made a few phone calls just to confirm a few things that was a total of 3 conversations with Empire staff regarding my event. Why is it that the day before my event, I called to ask a question and representative told me that I no longer had a reservation and the reason was that I didn't give a deposit. Who knew? I applied online, got a call and a confirmation how would I know. I asked to speak to a supervisor she told me he's on vacation, I asked is there anyone else in charge? She said he's not here either. I left my number get a return call. The representative got in touch with whoever the manager is that was on vacation and his response was, well if she would look at the top of the site she would see that she needed a deposit prior to rental contract confirmation....that was helpful, Manager....I only received a phone call from a representative that reviewed the whole order with me and confirmed my date.....I went a step further in my desperate time and emailed the manager and never got a response. But there is a happy ending, I ended up calling Rental Depot Boston, they were professional and thorough and worked fast after I explained what happened with Empire. I had an overall good experience with them. I rented about a dozen white chairs for my graduation last May. All of the rental companies in the area were out of chairs and/or were not taking anymore orders . Thankfully Empire had a large supply of chairs. The staff were helpful and friendly. However, I don't like their deposit policy; it made me uncomfortable. They hold a lot of money in case anything is damaged or you're late bringing your rentals back. I attempted to reserve a house for my daughters 4th birthday party, a woman called me once I processed the info on the site and told me I would need to call back Thursday with my credit card number to confirm. She stated the website did not save or process the credit cards, and nothing would happen until I confirmed on Thursday, once I confirmed on Thursday they would process payment. Fine, on Tuesday, I get a credit card alert that I was already charged, this was an issue due to what I was told on the phone. My girlfriend called them first thing in the morning to question why I was not processed as agreed, the woman was rude, told her she had nothing to do with it, that the site processed it, when pressed why the site processed it, when I was told nothing would be charged until I called Thursday for confirmation, the woman became dis-interested in the entire conversation. My girlfriend then cancelled, informing them we'd be in contact with my bank to resolve it there as they were not willing. Friday morning, I get a call from the delivery guys telling me they were on the way, I told them I cancelled and explained the situation, he told me he had to talk to his superior, no one every called me back. Currently I have my bank working on recovering the funds as once these people have your information, the help stops. They are dishonest, and say what's needed to get you in the door, then fleece you. I expect this at a used car dealer ship, but not from a kids bouncy house rental place. If you're considering a bouncy house business, go to Busy Bee Jumpers, same stuff, same prices, people work with you, and if there is any issue, refund you immediately, as they seem to care about their reputation, and not transaction by transaction. read more

I set up an 11-day rental of 2 pop ups tents for a film shoot. Their rep quoted me a price over the course of 3 phone calls. 24 hours before the tents were to be dropped off, the same rep who set up the entire rental (Antuan) called me to say he'd misquoted the price. The entire phone call, he kept saying it was my fault for paying the wrong rate and encouraged me to "add it up" over and over. Again, nothing (# of tents, dates, delivery info) had changed since the first day I called him. Since I am not an employee of Empire Mass Party Rentals, I informed him I don't know how they calculate rates, I only know what they tell me. The whole thing felt like some kind of bait and switch operation; knowing I was calling from 3,000 miles away, they undercut the local competitors then jacked up the price on a Sunday knowing we wouldn't have enough time to book with someone else. They were very courteous. They came back the next day to pick it up. We got a courtesy call to inform us that they were on their way. And they did a perfect job picking up everything. I had a horrible experience with this company, and I will never use this company again or refer this company to any of my friends or family. Monday the 6/13/16 an order placed through the internet for a bouncy house for my son'd birthday on 6/18/16. I received a call a few hours later for someone who works at Empires to inform me that they will not be able to deliver the bouncy house, so i will have to pick it up. I said that was fine and asked if the $50 delivery charge be deposited back to my card. The young lady replied yes. I then told her that they should hold the $50 as part of the $100 security deposit and when I pick up the bouncy house on Saturday she will hold $50 from the credit card. She agreed that was fine. On Saturday when my friend picked up the Bouncy house, he explained the agreement, I made with the lady on Monday. The person told him that she had to placed a $100 hold on his card, because that is what her manager told her to do. He ask her for the $50 refund and her response was we can't deal with refunds right now because we are busy. He said that the lady was very rude so he left. I called the company and the person, I spoke to lied and said that my friend kept calling and asking for the $50 which wasn't true because the only time we spoke to anyone from the company was on Monday. She was very rude and her response for not refunding the money was that they were busy with 30 orders. I told her that it wasn't my problem and she cannot hold my money and refund it when it is convenient to her. I went on to say that if she doesn't refund the money today, I will give a bad review on yelp and contact the better business bureau and her response was "go ahead, she doesn't care." My experience with your company was MUCH less than satisfying. We received equipment that was faulty (there was a big hole in the middle of the bouncy house and a waterfall was coming thru), and we received a snow cone maker, of which the pumps for the flavor bottles were NOT included, (the employee who set up the snow cone maker ensured us that the pumps for the bottles were inside the bottles which was false information). In calling your company to see if anything could be done about these mishaps, the person on the line argued with me and my sister, repeatedly talking over us while we were trying to rectify the situation, and then I was hung up on by one of the 'owners' Lou, and he was extremely rude, and not helpful or even attempting to be helpful in the least. He continuously kept repeating that we signed a contract and there was nothing he could do even though I only asked if any accommodation could be made, not to get out of any contract. When I informed Lou that his employee who set up the bouncy house is the person who told us it would be fine in the rain and water would not go inside the bouncy house, he proceeded to tell me he didn't even know who it was that set it up, which I find very difficult to believe if he owns the company. I do not appreciate any representative of a company being as rude and disrespectful as Lou was, and for him to be the OWNER of this business and treat his paying customers in this way is completely unacceptable. Word of mouth is a very powerful thing, and I have already informed a lot of my friends of this experience, and unfortunately they most likely will not do business with you due to my experience. I then reminded her the event was on a Sunday and asked would there be any issues with delivery. She put me on hold and came back with an even higher quote for delivery. I would never use this company again. I rented 100 folding chairs for a non-profit children's music recital. The woman on the phone asked what time we needed delivery. I said the event started at 10 am so 9 am would be great. She said that was fine and she would arrange it with the delivery manager. I filled out and signed their contract. Fast forward when I go to pay 3 days before the event. They tell me I am not in the delivery schedule and that if I want delivery at 9 am it will cost an extra $50! They tell me that it clearly states in my contract that if I want a "special delivery" if costs $50. I ask why 9 am is "special" and they respond that it is not a two hour window but is just a time. I asked the guy whether that made sense to him - that a customer would automatically know that a confirmed delivery time of 9 am would be considered "special"-He said yes and that I should have called earlier to confirm.
