We were looking forward to the carpet change only to be highly disappointed. When seeking Empire to place carpet on our stairs we were under the impression that it would be the full stairs. The balusters should have been removed to give the stairs a full carpet look like what was paid for them to do. When we reached out to them they claimed that is how they do it and it's in the contract. The man (Harry) that came to our home never said that the carpet will look like a runner rather than a full carpet on the stairs where there were balusters. They never tried to work with us to see what could be done. The stairs look horrible. It just looks like carpet is missing. And I have never seen carpeted stairs with exposed wood.

rotted subfloor but that didn't stop Empire from covering it with vinyl and calling it a day. Dude - just tell me there's a problem.

First, try to find a location for Empire. You can't. it's their way of avoiding Google reviews which relies on maps. As shady as it gets. We previously used Empire for our entire second floor - 4 bedrooms and a hallway. We were very happy with the results so we engaged them again for our first floor entry, hall, kitchen, and bath. It went terribly. The overall appearance was nice but: - An exterior door to the garage was left off the hinges on the floor of the garage. As the installers were leaving they said I should "call someone". At 6:30 at night. In the middle of winter. - A closet door would not open because the floor was too high. They said I should cut it down. - There were two spongy areas ("bounce" in the flooring) that was unacceptable. - After cutting down the garage door it wouldn't open fully because a transition was too high - and unsightly. It also had above-grade nail heads because "the subfloor is concrete". We had told the salesman about this and assumed he'd make a note. - The entrance from the garage to the hallway was unsightly. - The toilet was not reattached to the floor but the water was reconnected. When we got the same installers back they fixed most of the problems though it's not perfect. The toilet is the major issue, though. The installer explained (not on the first trip but the second) that the toilet flange was rusted out and had to be replaced. When I attempted to replace the flange I found out the sub-floor was completely rotted and needed to be replaced. However, they still installed the vinyl plank floor on top of the rotted sub-floor instead of notifying me and stopping work. I have to have another contractor come out, pull up the vinyl, replace the rotted sub-floor, and reinstall the vinyl. I don't blame Empire for the damaged condition of the sub-floor but I'm surprised they would just ignore it and install vinyl on top of it. I expected a better installation and quicker resolution to these issues.

Had my floor start in Oct 2022 had nothing but peeling with the quarter rounds shortly after the material is AWFUL and no help when calling them I paid in full and I just want the job done correctly the material is like a sticker over a cheap wood material just want something that will not peel been emailing and calling and was told I have to get an outside person to put in the material I want which is wood not a sticker over top a cheap piece of plywood very cheap..

Great, because the installation team that put my carpet in did such a fantastic, professional job. You can't notice any seams and the stairs edges were done so perfectly. Empire was easy to work with, but they didn't show a huge selection of carpets. Sales team and customer service were good, but for me, the two man installation team was awesome.

My peeling floor that I could probably glue down for $2 - but I think quality work should not be peeling like this less than a year later.

I would not suggest Empire Today. They are incredibly unprofessional and their work is shotty. I spent over 10,000$ with them (because my brother doesn't check reviews) and one of the rooms was peeling up (which I didn't even know was possible). Due to the fact that I called a month after my warranty expired (because my mom passed away in February so the house was unoccupied until July) they said they would fix the issue for $200. I had emails and phone calls that were blatantly ignored and when I went up the chain of command they made me open the case time and time again, only to take $25 dollars off.

Excellent (almost overkill) customer service. These folks have got it down to a science price performance... The whole deal.

"Gimme three steps, gimme three steps, mister Gimme three…read moresteps towards the door?" (Lynyrd Skynyrd) After we had our hardwood floors and steps sanded and refinished, we decided to pretty up those steps with a carpet runner, which explains why we visited Galaxy Discount Carpet Store today. That decision ended up being a FIVE STAR experience. Their two floor showroom is just incredible! Sample boards, rolls stacked on the floor in rows, area rugs hanging from the ceiling, gorgeous stuff everywhere. We met with Charlie and explained to him what we were looking for. He said that staircase runners can either be pre-manufactured in big rolls, or custom cut from carpeting meant for rooms. We knew we wanted a runner in some shade of gray to complement our wall color, and decided on a carpet runner to be cut from a big grayish roll and then finished with black binding along the edges, to complement the black stair rail and contrast with the white stair risers. It was installed 72 hours later, and that was pretty amazing in it's own right. Communication with Galaxy was great. Charlie was a dream to work with, the installers called us the day before install to confirm the date and time window, and the van with two workers arrived as scheduled mid-afternoon and did a neat professional job on the install. Charlie's price was $140 less than one we had from a flooring company out in our neck of the woods, and the carpet quality was better at Galaxy. Everything went well, and the stairs look great!
