John and his crew did a good job completing the task by Wednesday. John checked with me while trimming the tree as he didn't want to trim too much off. We were notified by our insurance that we were about to be dropped due to wildfire risks. Lucas was quick to give us an estimate and Chris and his team were on site not many days after. They did a massive amount of clearing and chipping over the course of 4 days. They also dropped 4 massive Fir trees which has brought so much additional light in that there is one less excuse to get a garden going. One of the climbers, Kevin, did most of the work on the Firs and was pretty impressive watching all the weight slowly be chunked and dropped to the forest floor. We have plenty of logs set aside to be cut to length, split and stacked. Enough wood to keep this rickety house warm for many winters to come. And the insurance company called after seeing photographs of the progress and have decided to renew, so we are at least good for another year. read more

It had already fallen in part on one of my outbuildings which they had to very carefully unwrap it from which they did! Empire tree service damaged my car when their employees failed to properly direct traffic while removing trees in my neighborhood ... still almost 2 years later they refuse to pay the deductible. After being called bitch, fuck you, and told to move the fuck on by a group of 4 men which was intimidating (I highly doubt they would have treated a male this way....) I was finally able to speak with one memeber of the crew Chris who had integrity, and admitted this was their fault. I then spoke with Lucas the owner who seemed to understand & even side with me,but once it came time for the actual repairs never accepted another one of my calls or called me back. Truly unprofessional, abusive, dishonest company. Where's your integrity? Why should I have to pay for your proven mistake not properly directing traffic & blocking access to a one way road? Still refusing to pay claim or deductible. Sometimes admitting your wrong makes you right.....still waiting. Update: Lucas the owner is now contacting me non stop because of this review. I have edited twice to make him "feel" better still nothing that helps me "feel" better or just taking care of it like most busines owners with an ounce of integrity would do. I'm giving them 3 stars because I don't know if they are a great service or not, and I want to be fair. Lucas failed to show up for my appointment. After a half hour I called and talked to their phone service who then contacted Lucas who called me shortly after. He said he had an emergency and could come out now. I declined. It's possible that he DID have an emergency, in which case I should have been notified and would understand, but I had the feeling he forgot. There are sooo many tree services competing for business that it takes a lot to be better than your competition but not nearly as much to be worse. As I don't really want to negatively impact someone's livelihood I figured I would at least give them 3 stars along with a comprehensive reasoning as to why and let others be the judge. We are so very happy with the work that Chris and his team just completed. They were fast, but careful and respectful of the property, fencing, etc. We learned of Empire Tree Experts from a flyer received in the mail. We called Lucas for a bid. He was in the area so able to come right out. The job was started by noon the next day, and everything was finished late morning the following day. We had a huge 200+ year old live oak that had died. The limbs were hanging over the edge of our roof, over fencing, the septic tank and leach lines. A lot of maneuvering around and precise sawing was required for the job. We would never use this tree service again--not because the workers didn't do a professional job, but because the owner badgered us so badly that we lost sleep over this situation. We had a large oak suddenly split--on a Sunday, and fall onto our house and the neighboring apartments. Other people's lives were in danger so we couldn't wait. I understand this was an emergency situation and they were the only tree company to respond. The owner was out of town, but the foreman agreed to come out. He said he could not give us an idea of the cost. The owner returned, charged us $26,300, and began demanding payment in full immediately. We had hoped to wait until we could hear from our insurance company, but continued to be harassed by the owner, Lucas G until we paid the full amount. I also read the negative reviews, but decided to get several quotes from different tree companies. This company had the lowest quote by far (less than half of one of the quotes!) So I spoke with Lucas about my concerns and he promised me that I would be happy with their work. They arrived on time and were able to come within a week of giving me a quote unlike some of the other companies that said maybe they could come in a month. They did everything as planned even in the rain, cleaned up beautifully and made sure I was satisfied with everything.
