Having to choose a network provider from my insurance company, I chose the closest business to my house, Empire Visionworks in Latham, NY. Then began a 2-1/2 month long fiasco of getting new glasses for my wife and I. This company's employees are incompetent, inefficient, unprofessional and rude. On our first visit, we waited almost 45 minutes, just to find out the never started a folder on us to give to the opticians. We sat there and then asked what was going on. They said "Ooops, we never stared a folder on you." No apology, nothing. Then they said we would be next and when an optician became available, they waited on someone else. I finally had to complain again and THEN we were waited on. When we went to pick up my wife's glasses, the lenses were cut wrong for her prescription. When we went 10 days later to get the replacement glasses, THEY WERE CUT WRONG AGAIN!!!! There optometrist told me glare protection, which wasn't covered by my insurance, was $19.00/each for the 2 pairs of glasses i ordered. When they put my order in, that price suddenly changed to $48.00/each. I told them that there optometrist told me $19.00/each but they refused to adjust the price. UNBELIEVABLE INCOMPETENCE!!! So, if you would like to be treated badly, suffer incompetence, pay more than you were quoted and wait nearly 2-1/2 months to get your glasses, then this is the place for you. read more

Back in May of 2020 I needed a new pair of glasses. after over a year of waiting and trying to get a exam at 3 places in the area my insurance said took my insuranc. I finally got a appointment at empire vision in Watertown New Yor. went in with a face shield as I can not medically tolerate a mask I sat there almost a hour to be rudely told by optomitrist the would not help me unless I wore a mask. She was extremely rude and even threatened to call the police to have me removed. I immediately called corporate and filed a complaint. I was told repeatedly I would get a call from a district manager within 48-72 hours. I continue to call every week since July 28th and keep getting told the same thing. and still no call and no eye exam. Extremely poor customer service I am still without glasses and my vision is getting worse. if I were paying out of pocket I would never recommend them Under any circumstance. read more

Horrible! After calling over and over again with no one answering the phone I finally got through to check on my glasses. A representative named Stephanie answered the phone as if she was annoyed. I asked if my glasses were ready for pick up and she responded with "well what date did they tell you they would be ready?". Then put me on hold and never came back to the phone. Do not go here giant waste of time. I went here for my eye exam since they took my insurance. First I had to visit 4 times to get anything accomplished. I then asked to order a year supply of contacts and they claimed they did, since I was told my insurance covered a full 6 month supply I paid out of pocket for what I thought was the other 6 month supply. When I returned to the store for the 4th time to pick them up I was handed a 6 month supply. I then waited for 30 minutes for them to tell me that "I" only ordered a 6 month supply. When I questioned being charged I was told that my out of pocket payment was for the 6 month supply. So total waste of time, falsely told me I was getting a year supply and acted like the year supply conversation never happened. I will never go back to this place ever again. I'd rather just pay out of pocket to a competent optometrist. Unless you have no other option I would never recommend this place to anyone ever. read more

The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. The doctor is nice and knowledgeable. But then you wait forever to see the contact lady. I was waiting for over an hour. They made me take my contacts out so I can't see anything. So I'm sitting here basically blind while the contact lady sits around and chit chats with her coworkers. I will not be returning here. That was absolutely ridiculous. read more

Terrible service. The lady at the front desk was very nice, but the lack of professionalism by everyone else was appalling. I stopped in just to get my glasses tightened and after I was seated sat there for 20 minutes without anyone saying a word. I saw numerous people having casual conversation. One person was on there phone, and walked by me several times and did not ask to see if I needed help. After 20 minutes of patiently waiting, I became frustrated and left. I will never stop into this establishment again. A serious review of customer service policy needs to be done here. read more

I entered the facility and approached the counter to check in for an appointment for my daughter. Not a glance, not a I'll be right with you.... NOTHING. I stood there for a good 3 minutes before I had to ask if I should be checking in somewhere else. Keep in mind there are 5 people behind this counter. I explained I had a 12:00 appointment for my daughter and I was responded with well it was 12:15 but that's ok. I was entirely put off by the unprofessionalism and rudeness of the entire staff. From beginning to end. I actually ended up leaving without choosing any glasses for my daughter because I just could not take anymore. I would suggest going elsewhere . read more

I bought my glasses in December and the service was great then. Unfortunately, the paint on the frames started chipping. I went in to ask what I could do, and the lady told me they were under warranty. While I was there, she got me new frames, popped in my lenses, refitted me, and I was on my way in under 15 minutes. read more

horrible experience with empire visioinworks latham. it took long long long time to get someone to help you. when i picked up the glasses today, nobody helped me adjust the glasses. when i asked the front desk. their answer was "wait untill someone to call you". after more than half an hour waiting, nobody help me adjust glasses. overall, the service was terrible there and attitude was very rude. you need wait wait and wait. i will never buy glasses from them again. read more

I too am sorry that my insurance plan, Davis Vision, only accepts Empire Vision. In the 20+ years I've gone there, it's a constant battle and the staff is miserable ALL the time. read more

Someone needs to teach the staff here about "customer service." There is a difference between professional and impersonal- the staff appears not to care at all and acts as if they'd rather be somewhere else and that the customer's presence is an imposition to them. On the phone, "Danielle" answered and spouted out something by rote so ridiculously fast that it could not be understood. In store, the pretty girl at the counter acts as if she's "all that," despite the excessive size of her butt. She offered a paper to sign without explanation; when asked, she was vague enough to make one suspicious. "Deb" performed her job with a smug attitude that made me question whether I'd unknowingly committed some faux pas. It was not a comfortable experience. These are impolite people; I expected to be treated better. read more

Empire Vision in Latham just helped me a second time with a pair of frames that kept breaking. The first time they replaced them, it did take a while for them to get the new frames in Latham, and then to contact me to switch them for me. Ten months later, the new frames also broke. EV offered to find me another frame, even though it had been discontinued. I was happy to hear that, but then the frames that were in their system never came in. So they offered to help me out by allowing me to come in and pick out any frame I wanted and they would make them up for me for only a charge of $25.00. I thought this was very generous of EV and I must say that they took very good care of me once I picked out some new frames. They made up the new pair in just a couple of days and they are just great. The staff their from the manager, Michael to everyone else who helped us, were just great.
