Designs that I got from them were all very typical, I always feel like I got ripped off every time I went there. (There was no other better option for me.) Therefore, I stopped going to nail salons for awhile, it was mainly because I tried to save some money and didn't want to spend those kind of money for something only look good but not great. Until I heard about Lin's nail shop, I saw those nail pictures that Lin posted on Wechat, I decided to give her a try. Lin definitely didn't disappoint me at all, the material that she used on my nails were all good quality stuffs and she also took her time to make sure everything comes out right. She was personable, knowledgeable and empathetic as well as being a good conversationalist and listener. Got my nails done by the owner who I've been going to for almost 2 years. A couple days after the…read moreacrylic started lifting in 3 and 1 cracked. I was in the area so I popped in to ask if she had time to repair it and explained the issue. She told me to sit and a man proceeded to fix my nail. First he put glue on one that was lifting and didn't file down any of the residue it left. Then instead of removing the nail to be repaired he attempted to add more acrylic. Mind you this whole time I'm trying to make small talk with him and he's absolutely ignoring me. He stood up the entire time he worked on my nails and was pretty aggressive with how he handled my fingers. After he added the acrylic my nail was a lumpy hot mess. I had to ask him to fix it. At the end he said "done" and walked away. So when I got up he follows me to the front and says "cash or card". I explained that I was just there a few days ago and my nails were coming apart. This man proceeds to yell at me that he doesn't care and I didn't pay him, I paid the person who did them (the owner). So I asked him to get her and he yells "you go back there and get her yourself". I refused to move from the front and just ignored him until she came up. This man continues to yell at me and caused a scene over a botched nail repair I never asked him to do. She comes up and I explain and he's still yelling at me like I'm a dog on the street. Turns out the angry man is the owners spouse! I've watched this nail shop become colder and less hospitable with certain clients. Beware. This guy is aggressive and seems to have the potential to possibly become violent.

I found Fancy Nails on Yelp, but I took a risk since there were NO reviews for this place at all. I called ahead to see their hours on Saturdays and they said they were going to be open until 6pm that evening. This place is situated on Winton Rd, which is always busy. It's tucked in a strip mall area with other stores nearby. It looked a little dingy, but I was not the type to judge a book by its cover. It was 12:45pm when I walked up to the door....saw a bunch of signs saying their hours and different flyers. I was puzzled to see one say in broken English "No acrylic nails at 3:30pm". I racked my brain to understand what that meant....no acrylic nails until 3:30pm or were they out of the acrylic powder for the day? I figured I'd ask the owner or the manager....but lo and behold, the door was LOCKED. I looked inside and there were women in there getting pedis and manis. I waved at an employee and they completely ignored me. I walked off in a huff. NEVER coming by here again....who the heck locks their door during business hours?! I would understand if it was reserved for a bridal party, but they could have courteously posted that on their door in midst of their mess of flyers saying "Sorry, we have a wedding party reservation, please come back at this XX hour." or had someone come to the door and explain why their business wasn't "open".
