I've been to Nio Mochi a few times now, and it's a great spot when I'm craving mochi. I stopped by…read moreon a weekday afternoon, and there were only two people ahead of me, so the wait was short. Ordering is done through a self-service kiosk, and once your order is placed, you simply wait for a text notification. One thing to note: they don't call out order numbers when your food is ready. Instead, you'll receive a text message, then just show them your order number at the pickup counter. This time I ordered: - Twin Flavor Mochi (Sesame Peanut & Soybean) - Black Sesame Matcha Chocolate Mochi I've tried several of their other flavors before, and I realized I definitely prefer their small mochi over the larger ones. The peanut and black sesame flavors are still my favorites--they're soft, chewy, and have a nice balance of sweetness without being overwhelming. The larger Black Sesame Matcha Chocolate Mochi wasn't my favorite. I found the matcha filling a little too doughy and not enough matcha taste. The shop itself is clean and modern. Parking is convenient with spaces available behind the plaza, and there' is street parking in front of the store as well. Overall, if you're a fan of chewy mochi desserts, especially peanut or black sesame flavors, Nio Mochi is definitely worth checking out. I'll be coming back to try more of their small mochi varieties.

4.5 I really love…read morethe cream cheeses paired with the mochi it's honestly delicious. I had the mango pomelo bobo cream cheese mochi and that was top tier. I would definitely buy it again even if it seems pricy because when I think about it, some places sell store bought cheesecakes and give you a slice for 8 dollars. So the 7 dollars for a decently large mochi with my desired filling sounds pretty reasonable. However something like the sesame peanut mochi was very standard (has a very generous amount of filling though). Despite my mild liking to mochi in general, I would actually get it again. Is it worth 30 mins to an hour wait? Probably not... But I would get it if there was a very short line for it. I really love how efficient they are at making them. I ordered it and got it within 2 minutes (although I was the 6th group to get a there and order right when they opened). Kiosk are very easy to use and the space is very simple and small.

I wished we had arrived earlier to be able to enjoy more of the sold out offerings, but next time we'll arrive right when they open. We ordered a dozen crinkle cookies for a Mother's Day lunch - enjoying the sweet ube and the spiced thai tea versions. Both were great compliments to each other - more perfectly sweet and the other a bit more herbal. The chocolate chip cookie was perfect - nice crunchy edges and slightly gooey soft inside. The ube tres leches was a little disappointing as there wasn't any tres leches cake at the bottom, just crumbly graham crackers resting below exquisite ube mousse. It could have been mislabeled, but it was essentially just ube mousse with crumbly graham crackers for texture. The staff were friendly and the store is so fun!

I'm Mexican so the l tres leches was a little dry to my liking and lacked the ube flavor in my opinion I will return to try the other treats they have So if you're in the montebello area and haven't been here definitely give them a try I got a latte as well and it was well made

About 5 years ago we moved to San Fernando Valley, but I am still visiting this place at least twice / 3 times a month. I wish I could come more. Mochi Twist ($5)-- Nice and dense mochi texture? I guess it's hard to describe but it's not hollow and airy like a typical donut. There's some chew to it. And it's not too sweet! Blueberry Roti ($4)-- Flaky crumble on top and blueberry jam?? YES YESSSS. I liked this so much I'd definitely go back for it. Blueberry jam is so underrated and it's rare to find it in a pastry! Makes for a good sweet lil treat. Hot latte ($5)-- Perfect!! No complaints. Not too milky, not too light. Good ratio. I was actually kind of worried ordering a latte because not every place does it right but it's good here! Iced blueberry matcha ($6?)-- I see lots of good things about this drink on here but ooooooof... it missed the mark and by a LOOOT too. It was green sweet cereal milk. Where's the matcha? Where's the blueberry? It was so confusing because I see the green and I know I ordered matcha... but it's just sweet milk! And it's not even blueberry flavored milk. Did they forget the blueberry jam? Syrup? Whatever they use? Because it just tastes like the milk after a bowl of Frosted Flakes or something like that. Very sad, very disappointing. Ended up tossing after a couple sips. ANDDD for those matcha purists this is NOOOT the place for you! They have it pre mixed in a milk gallon. So we just saw green milk coming out of a gallon into this cup like yeppppp ok expectations immediately lowered. Anyways, hot latte is good and the 2 pastries I got were good! Steer clear of the matcha!!!
