    General Tso's Tofu

Good only okay Asian food. It's far from the best but it's not bad though. En Lai is a pretty Americanized Asian restaurant in Edgewater. Has quite a few classics as well as modern. This has pretty okay prices. Came here for a lunch and wanted Chinese. It's not that big inside but it wasn't busy when we came in. There's many people who order takeout. Helps it not be as crowded. It's about $12 for an entree. I got the General Tso's Tofu. This is a typical version. Hot sauce. The tofu was crispy and not tough. Basically it's okay for Asian. It's better than it looks. The prices are pretty affordable for big portions and there's plenty for vegetarians.

A little Asian that is too cl across Whole foods. But don't let it fool you, the foods are delicious.

There is nothing inside of that amazing looking chicken that anyone would want to eat. Puking in my mouth right now.

Very good quality food, large portions, and reasonably priced. What more could you want? The Orange Chicken was excellent, very tasty.

Both staff members were so friendly! There was plenty of seating (which surprised me on a Friday evening). For an appetizer, I decided to try the Korean Corn Dog (which was marked as "recommended" on the menu). It was strange (though beautifully presented) - I was expecting something a little more savory or spicy for Korean - it was actually oddly sweet, with a Vienna-sausage-sized odd-tasting "dog" surrounded by a large, almost donut-like batter, and what seemed like a sweet ketchup and mayo kind of condiment pairing. It wasn't bad - it just seemed like it didn't know whether it wanted to be an appetizer or dessert. The shrimp pad thai was terrible. The shrimp were hammered -- so overcooked that they were leathery and tasteless. I think this is the first time I've had a dish with shrimp where I didn't finish the shrimp. And the pad thai itself was a gummy mess with no freshness - nothing green - no green onions or any vegetables other than bean sprouts, which had no crunch. There was a little bit of dry, tough red cabbage on the side. The crushed peanuts and lime helped, but not enough. A lot of local people (who seemed like regulars) were stopping in to pick up to-go orders, so I have to believe there is good food here. But I didn't get it.

We arrived right at opening for dinner service, along with only one other couple. We were allowed to choose our own seats, which was a nice start. Our server asked if we wanted cocktails, and we ordered draft beer from the menu -- only to be told they no longer serve beer on draft. If that's the case, it really should be removed from the menu. The service throughout the evening was unfriendly and rushed. After taking our order, the server quickly removed all the menus from the table. Since we were ordering sushi, we likely would have ordered additional items if we had been allowed to keep a menu. One of our favorite items at most sushi restaurants is the salmon skin hand roll, but this version was terrible. The salmon skin was extremely hard, dry, and difficult to eat -- more like stale pork rinds than properly prepared salmon skin. Normally, salmon skin is lightly broiled and served warm in the roll. This tasted as though it had been deep fried long before serving and left sitting in a container until needed. When the server asked how our meal was, we politely explained the issue with the salmon skin. Rather than acknowledging the concern, she insisted that this is how it is supposed to be made. The rest of the food was just average at best. Honestly, because we came at the beginning of dinner service, much of it tasted like leftovers from lunch. We still left a tip, but after several disappointing visits and consistently rude service, we will not be returning.

This place really has atmosphere. We got the papaya salad (crisp, fresh ingredients with lots of flavor), the drunken noodles (deep flavorful noodles with plenty of shrimp) and the Panang Curry (creamy, sweet and spicy). The waitstaff are more than happy to go through the menu and help you decide what you're in the mood for. Just be warned - when they say it's spicy, it's *really* spicy, which is great if that's what you want (I do!). Good to have authentic Asian fare in the Northern reaches of the city. Would have liked a meat alternative but other than those drumsticks, which are brought in frozen and premade and therefore, the "meat" cannot be used in an entree-only the tofu was gluten free. Although I mixed in tamari and sirahcha, this was delicious. The hot pit crisped the rice perfectly and the veggies and tofu were cooked really well. We also got their raw berry cheese cake and a scoop of soy vanilla ice cream for dessert. The crust of the cheesecake wasn't really good but everything else was excellent. Service was great with a lot of good suggestions and he was very friendly. The place isn't much to describe. Just a very casual interior with an Alice in wonderland motif. The Kung Pao Ding; for the sauce I was expecting a slightly tangy flavor with maybe a little heat but it was not that. The sauce feels sticky, thick, and the flavor is flat. The protein tasted over cooked to me. I also ordered a couple drinks that I've never tried before to test them out. The flavored water tastes like there's stevia in it, a weird after taste. The cardamom grape was not as sweet as I was hoping, and a very faint flavor. It's very possible I just chose the wrong items for my taste buds. But these were my first impressions on this order.

Prices like this need to be earned. The jury is still out whether or not Nori sushi has earned it…read more I'd ordered a Nigiri special recently, two pieces of Albacore, seared with a little accoutrements, on top of rice. These two were $10. Now, if it an extremely high-quality, expensive cut of fish I might be more understanding. Something simple and slightly elevated doesn't make the cut. A better value was the Crazy Trio. This roll did not skimp on the fish whatsoever. I also loved the use of ginger within the roll itself, and want to recognize that neither the tempura nor the sauces were heavy-handed. Too many places go overboard to the point of cranking out "mayonnaise rolls" more often than not. This one sells for a much more reasonable $16.95 While prices can be hit or miss, overall, Nori Sushi delivers on above-average quality, but not at the level of more premium sushi spots (like Blowfish on Bryn Mawr, for example). When it comes to the service, while the food came out in a reasonable time frame, I felt it was otherwise a little inattentive. Final verdict: Nori sushi is a fine neighborhood sushi spot, that isn't a destination by any means, but works for when you're craving sushi and are in the area. The value, like the service can be hit or miss, so plan accordingly.
