The food is excellent. We order from here at least once a week and we love it. I order the ham fried rice and orange chicken, sometimes we get chicken lo mein, egg rolls, soups - everything is good! The service is great. Just give them a call. I have read some of the other reviews and it hasn't been my experience at all. Give them another chance. I don't think you'll be sorry. Something told me that it might not be the best idea to check out this place, but venture forth I did. China Palace is your typical hood Chinese food served with an extra helping "I couldn't care less" from the staff. Walking in the place is a dump. Every surface is sticky, there's food on the tables and chairs, grease spots on the floor, etc. I ordered my usual item to test the waters which is the orange chicken dinner special. Upon asking the cashier if it came with a soda, he spoke unintelligible words. After trying to understand him, I came to the conclusion that he was trying to explain that the specials come with either an egg roll or drink. When I asked to include the drink as extra he proceeded to roll his eyes as if it was that much difficult to just add a drink to the order. My order was ready in just a few minutes which isn't a good sign. They serve the usual large portions for under $12. While I was waiting I ended up cleaning the table myself after I realized there was sauce spilled on it (see pic for how dirty the cloth was after just a small wipe down.) The soda I ordered was lukewarm...not a great start. The egg roll is your typical egg roll made with peanut butter. Crispy, but there's definitely better rolls out there.  The orange chicken started out a step above the dreaded "orange sponge." It was piping hot, crispy in some areas and had some spice to it. Still, it was just another orange sponge once the ridiculous amount of sauce soaked in. The fried rice is definitely over seasoned yet trended towards good. Good basic Cantonese food. Try to order the lunch or dinner combos as they are the best deal and you get a lot of food. We've tried the Mongolian beef, chicken, chip, sweet, shrimp, egg for young, shrimp, and lobster sauce, and the eggrolls. Ordered again. Still digging it. Veg/tofu soup - very nice. String beans - great. Spicy. Lo mein (veg) - not very good. Bland, like the fried rice, and had something weird and crunchy in it. Not horrible, just not great. For the prices, portions, and amazing eg rolls, this is a great place to be prepared to try different dishes and see what's good. I visited this place for the first time on 9.16.22 and spent a little over $17.00 for a small chicken fried rice w/extra chicken ($3.00) more a order of crab ragoon and grape canned soda. I got home ready to enjoy my food and the rice was more like white rice and not really fried to my disappointment. I literally cooked in my skillet and provided various seasonings. I did enjoy the crab ragoon. It was so bad and I was so disappointed that I called back at 9:28pm on the day of purchase. The lady who answered claimed it was a new chef there and she would tell him for next time. She did not offer any compensation for a new order or refund. Needless to say, I will not be returning. I've been ordering from here for 15 years; it's been my Go-to Chinese place. In the last year it's really gone downhill, not sure if I will continue ordering from here. I've given them extra chances this year to get back to the basics with no hope in sight. The prices have risen, which I understand and don't mind paying the extra; supplies cost more, inflation, etc. - I get it. I worked in food service for nearly twenty years. However, I no longer get what I pay for and it's depressing. I barely got any meat in my seasame chicken (again), most of it was fried dough bits with nothing inside. I began cutting every piece in half and found nothing at all or what looked like re-fried bits with shriveled inedible jerky. My Mongolian beef should be named Mongolian green peppers. This year there has been a dramatic increase of green peppers and small noodles in the bottom of the dish and less beef. I once counted 5 small pieces in the large sized container. I understand meat is expensive, but if I'm paying extra up front for the dish, don't short change me with the food. If I wanted a veggie dish or fried dough I would have ordered that instead. read more

I've ordered lunch via GrubHub a few times. For the most part, I have enjoyed everything from Mongolian beef to mushroom chicken. It is fast and reasonable. My only gripe is that both times, I have had to deal with sauce leaking out all over everything. It was really messy. This place is awesome. Anyone who complains cannot be thankful for what is in the neighborhood. The owners and staff here work very hard to keep this restaurant running. There are 6 small tables here seating 2-4 people. It's not a fancy dine in restaurant at all but if you need to sit down and eat, that possibility is there. The prices are highly affordable. The quality is good. They even deliver for $3 if you're in the area. Why complain? They have some traditional dishes too you might find at restaurants on Argyle St or Chinatown like chow fun (wide rice noodle) and mai fun (thin rice noodle). They have Singapore noodles too (yellow curry rice noodle with a kick - absolutely delicious!). They have Chicken Kow, which is awesome and very healthy. It's basically white meat chicken stir fried with a bunch of leafy Chinese vegetables and other healthy vegetables in a white sauce. They're egg foo young dish is a steal at $4 and some odd cents for a 2 patty order and it's the ultimate comfort food. The same feeling you get after eating meatloaf and mashed potatoes and gravy. Satisfying and perfect for winter. Get your biotin smothered in gravy lol! It comes with steamed rice too, as well as all their other dishes. You can't go wrong with the Chow Mein Cantonese (pan fried noodles) or War Mein (which is their version of Lo Mein- soft boiled noodles stir fried with veggies and sauce and your choice of meat or vegan). You also can't go wrong with their pork dishes like pork and Szechuan string beans, pork and garlic sauce, twice cooked pork, or pork and broccoli. Very satisfying. Of course there are the usual suspects like chicken and broccoli, chicken and peapods (yummy), shrimp and broccoli, shrimp and lobster sauce (divine), beef and broccoli, pepper steak, Mongolian very, or the Kung Pao or Cashew dishes with your choice of meat or shrimp. Lemon chicken , sweet and sour dishes, empress chicken, sesame chicken, General Tso's chicken, orange chicken or beef are all good. If you're feeling adventurous, try the War Sue chicken. You won't regret it. Lastly, this place is excellent because they serve boba drinks like HK style milk tea, honey lemon tea, chrysanthemum honey tea, iced coffee (with it without boba, hot coffee (with or without boba), real fruit smoothie drinks , avocado drinks (plus fruit if you want it like papaya for example), and chocolate raspberry smoothies. They have an extensive list of drinks you can order with or without boba. If you wanted banana papaya blend smoothie, they would make if. And they have taro boba too if you request it. Check them out! Affordable Asian food if you're in the Edgewater neighborhood and right across the street directly in front of the Thorndale red line stop They serve Ma Po Tofu but it doesn't have any meat. I ordered the sesame chicken from this place and enjoyed it, but the egg roll that came with it, no! The egg roll was eatable, but it tasted and looked more like it was burnt, but yet heated up. I will be nice, but as for the restaurant itself it was very plain inside. I was bored out of my mind waiting my food, so I decided to count scuff marks on the floor, and also how many pictures that i can place on the bare wall behind me that had nothing on it. This place looked like a ghost town inside, but apparently it's doing something right, because it has been around since 1996! According to the flyer on the window outside; this place delivers, and also has WiFi. Not sure how good the WiFi is, but I will test it out on a later date. Another thing about this place is they prefer cash, but will accept credit card. That may be a problem in the future, but remember that if you decide to eat here. I would definitly eat here again, but wouldn't dine in, and most likely wouldn't order an egg roll. There's no need to go into a long paragraph, the food was completely disgusting, unappetizing, and flavorless. The spring rolls were soggy and tasted like pancake batter. Crap. I was really hoping this would be my go-to resource for a large helping of the non-authentic cheap Extra Fine Pork Chop Suey Chinese food of my non-Chinese childhood. Yeah, I know chop suey is not real Chinese food, but I do love it. The crispy water chestnuts. The moist bean sprouts that pop when you chew them. The savory small pieces of shredded pork. The fluffy white rice. Sometimes it's just the thing you need for a night in, watching movies. This stuff had none of that. It was desultory, overcooked and bland. And a large order wasn't even that large! That reminds me of a joke, but I will not digress. The rice portion was very small - and c'mon, that's the least expensive thing in food of this type. The "Crab" Rangoon was more accurately called "Cream Cheese Rangoon". So, enough of that. The Egg rolls were bland and just overwhelmingly . . . meh. It'd be a stretch for them to reach "mediocre". Hot n' Sour soup. This is my white whale. How I test the waters of Chinese restaurants, because I love this stuff. Am still mourning the demise of the best Hot n' Sour soup EVER from the red-painted filthy place that used to be on Bryn Mawr, but *sigh* back to our story. This was, most assuredly, not that. Viscous brown water with a few shreds of what once was vegetable matter. Barely any of those weird black mushroom things that I love. No pork. One or two small tofu cubes. I'm used to having to add a little vinegar to this sort of soup, because I like it VERY sour, but even a glug of delicious Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar didn't help this swill. Do you ever have an experience where the food was so lackluster you wish you would have just skipped dinner and stayed a little hungry? Yeah, that was my thought. And I lobbied hard for this place, 'cos I was in the mood for a li'l cheep chop suey. So, I also had that guilt of picking a bad restaurant. I prefer not to repeat that. The food we got was cheap, under $20. And my lovely manfriend, who went to retrieve it, reported on the staff, mostly on laptops, being indifferent to customers, as others have noted. We ordered delivery last night and were so pleasantly surprised! Not only did the driver arrive earlier than we expected (it was Sunday of Labor Day weekend, they had to be slammed), but he was very friendly and the food was still piping hot. Speaking of, every dish we had was delicious. The potstickers and veggie fried rice stole the show for me, but we also had really great hot & sour soup, orange chicken, and beef with garlic sauce. It's a hole in the wall Chinese spot that has been there since the 90s. It's good Chinese overall. My family has been coming here since they opened. I think they changed management but food was still solid. I've heard different from others in the neighborhood though. If there's a better Chinese restaurant in the area let me know. read more

The biggest advantage this place has going for it is that the portion sizes are tremendous, as others have said. The food is not particularly noteworthy. Potstickers were probably the least enjoyable for me. They were made with wrappers that are too thick. So thick that you can take a bite and get only dough. Egg rolls were ok. Nothing wrong, but nothing stands out. Chow fun was probably the tastiest thing I had, but was cooked with a bit too much oil and the amount of meat was a little underwhelming. However, it is $9, they give you a ton of noodles, there's a bit of wok hei in there -- just don't expect to compare it to what you get for $6-8 more at some other Cantonese joints. I probably won't come again, but I could see it being a good option if you're looking to feed a lot of people on a budget. read more

As a person from the 100s, its nice to have a chinese place that serves the good kind of eggrolls--heavily breaded and deepfried. The prices are good too. I also can't understand how anyone would give this place a bad review. For inexpensive, tasty Chinese takeout, China Palace is a solid 4 stars. I've gotten takeout twice now and both times the service was great, the employees I interacted with were incredibly nice, and the food was awesome. Some highlights are the egg rolls (some of the best I've had), crab Rangoon (chock full of delicious crabby filling), General Tso's Chicken (perfectly crispy and flavorful) and the House Chow Fun (lots of beef, chicken and shrimp). The portions are also extremely generous for the price. My only criticism is some of the other dishes I tried are a little heavier than necessary but otherwise this is an excellent choice for quick, satisfying Chinese food. When placing online I received an email confirmation ASAP saying it would arrive in 55m, I wait 1hr10m until I call them. I called them 15 times and no answer.
