Who doesn't love chocolate? It's a great shop with an extensive assortment of chocolate and teas and a few other sweets like caramel. The store reps definitely know their chocolate. And I've been here more than once. I especially appreciate them sharing the history and background of the chocolate. It is pricier than the mass produced Mars brand but only because they sell high quality chocolate. Goes down smooth in your mouth. I do feel as though I've had a taste of Europe. Mmmm. This is my absolute favorite place to go when I really want to treat myself. I live in North Seattle but I gladly drive to Olympia for the sole purpose of visiting Encore Chocolates and Teas. The selection is unrivaled and unbelievably delicious. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, ready to assist with any questions or requests you might have. The owner has been there every time I've gone. and he is a truly delightful person, happy to tell you about any of the items in his shop, because he's picked them all himself. Tea selection is amazing! You sniff the pots of tea and read little info sheets for each one. Once you know what you want, you get a little card and write the codes and how many ounces you want of each. They require you purchase a minimum 2 ounces. I have tried several herbal teas including rooibos, a mango green tea and my all time favorite is called Irish Cream Breakfast black tea. Brewed right with bit of milk= absolute HEAVEN in the morning. For me, I drink that black tea almost daily. If I get 4 ounces and brew one round twice most of time, it will last me 2 months. Two ounces used a few times a week would last you about a month, depending on type of tea. May seem pricey up front, but overall better value than bagged tea. I was very new to loose tea about a year ago, so I asked owner guy for help with a loose leaf tea infuser. He recommended I just start with a basic basket infuser that sits on top of your mug. I liked that he recommended the basic one for $8.95 instead of trying to upsell me. Very honest, fun and good people work there. They really seem to enjoy it. I know I would! The chocolate selection is phenomenal, filled with tons of local, fair trade, organic, low sugar and exotic varieties. Almost anything you can think of. Many things come in small single squares, so you can sample if you don't feel comfortable paying average $5-$8 dollars for a standard size. It's not your store bought Dover/Hershey crap or the average Sees Candy stuff. It's high quality, delicious chocolate. There are also tons of local/regional varieties of caramels, taffy and other treats. It's a superb place to get gifts. My husband has surprised me with chocolates from here on a couple occasions. Tea became a complex drink many years ago...it's grown in many countries and is sold in many different ways. Each is different and each has its own flavor. At Encore, they keep in stock many different teas so there are great choices for both the consumate tea snob or a casual tea drinker looking for a good cuppa. Absolutely charming establishment, which more importantly trades in the most delicious chocolate. Sadly I've not yet tried the tea, but from my two experiences thus far with the sweets, I've found the staff either extremely passionate and thusly knowledgeable or stunningly gorgeous. Both are refreshing. The chocolate itself, is a tab to satisfaction. As I think the flavors are wonderful enough, even gluttony couldn't ask for more. On a recent visit to Olympia I visited this shop based on a friends (highly obsessed) recommendation and had the best time checking out their selection of teas and chocolates. The girls working were very sweet and helpful and not even being a big tea drinker I walked out with a couple different bags to try. I am now a tea drinker! :) loose leaf tea is a completely different experience and I love that you are able to see what it looks like before you buy. The Sunset in Olympia is my new fav! This is one of the best afternoon "escapes" in town, you can't go wrong with a visit to this incredible store. When you have time, the trip to the store to smell and sample the teas is a treat. I've always enjoyed tea but this store has made me appreciate fine tea on a new level. The chocolates are another experience! I never indulged in such fine and incredible treats like this store carries, but now I'm versed in the best and all imported chocolate. If you are looking for Danish and imported licorice, they've got that also with a good selection. There really is something for everyone in the store, but most of all it's a great experience to wander through and enjoy. read more

First time visiting and I was very impressed by the selection of teas and chocolates, the staff knowledge, and the prices. I purchased three teas (2oz each) as well as several mini chocolates for under $20! The teas I purchased were lower on the cost spectrum but they have all been excellent quality and I would repurchase them. The chocolates were all tasty and provided a great opportunity to sample what they offer without spending too much. This place will be a great stop for gifts or just treating myself! read more

All of these teas have been hand selected by the owner who has traveled the world looking for the best tea. Everyone who works there is extremely friendly and helpful as well. This is a great store. They stock a huge range of loose-leaf teas, almost anything you could want. You can smell any of the teas in small jars before you place an order as well as try their daily samples. Likewise, their chocolates are excellent and varied. There's something for almost anyone in the chocolate section. Even when I only stop in for tea, I usually see a chocolate I need to try. The best part are the owners, however. They're both very friendly and love to chat, either about their products or anything else. (They've lived in the area for quite a while, so they're great sources for tips there.) And they clearly love what they sell; they won't stock products that they don't like or that they think aren't a fair price for the customer. It's hard to find such passion in businesses, but it really does make for a much better shopping experience. read more

This place is such a great find! The people who work here are very friendly and knowledgeable. They are great at helping you find the perfect teas and chocolates and gave a me short lesson on steeping teas, which teas you can mix, how long to steep and more. I bought a bag of mixed chocolates as well as a steeper. I'll be going back for sure for some loose leaf tea and possibly some Christmas gifts for my friends and family (gourmet chocolates!). read more

I absolutely adore this tea shop, I buy tea here every time I need some, whether they're gifts for friends or just something for myself! They have a large selection of teas, and sniffer jars for each one! Their teas range from $2-$5 for two ounces (there's a minimum of 2oz required for purchase for most teas), so they're fairly cheap for such great quality! I have yet to buy anything from here that I haven't absolutely loved. I even brought a friend here from out of town, and she fell in love with the Seattle Spicy Chai. The couple who runs this shop is very knowledgable about tea and helpful for making your shopping experience simple and pleasant. My younger brothers like to buy small caramels or chocolates from here when I bring them with me too :) read more

Beautiful shop, passionate owners, excellent quality. I've been frequenting Encore since they first opened across from The Washington Center and they just keep getting better. I love tea and my husband loves chocolate. Encore is surprisingly child friendly. The owner invites my kids to pick one of the individually wrapped Seattle's Chocolates each time we visit and they also provide two tea samples daily, one of which is always herbal and child friendly. The kids love to smell the teas and let me know what their favorites are. Encore's tea is excellent quality. My current favorites are their organic earl grey and milky oolong. The chocolates comprise of a wide selection of high quality chocolates and a few select caramel based candies (toffees, brittles) from both local and international chocolatiers. I've found everything from no sugar and alternatively sweetened chocolates, classic Belgian chocolates, and whimsically flavored chocolates. It's a great spot to pick up a gift and now with their tea room, a wonderful place to enjoy a tea or chocolate beverage. I've yet to try their tea lattes but I'm eager to get back to see if they're on the menu yet. read more

I liked the look of Encore's Lung Ching tea on their display. It looked like nice leaf and had good color. I purchased a couple of ounces. When I got home I found the tea to be mostly pretty much old, broken leaves and chaff. I've seen better in tea bags. This is the third time I purchased a green tea based on the display only to find that what I got was old and pretty much devoid of any character or even taste for that matter. Sorry I wanted a good relationship with a much needed local seller of quality whole teas. Didn't find it here. read more

I just moved to Olympia and had only been here about 2 weeks when I discovered this shop. As a daily tea drinker and big fan of Lupicia teas, I was hoping for a comparable tea experience and Encore absolutely blew me away. The proprietors are so knowledgeable, kind, and joyful! Talking to them you can tell they are passionate about their offerings and the experience of brewing and enjoying a tea. I can't comment on the chocolate side since I'm not fond of chocolates and haven't tried any there. I admire the efficiency they bring to their store as well. Order a few ounces of their loose teas and you'll see! They always have samples of hot teas right as you walk through the door. Today I ended up buying 4oz of one of those featured teas and I think I have found a new favorite: Angel Falls Mist herbal tea. Overall this is a great shop with excellent selection and even better hospitality. Also, very easy on the wallet. 4 oz of my favorite Passion Fruit black tea only costs me about $6 and lasted me for 2 mos. read more
