We bought a 6' grand piano in Doublin and needed to get it moved to Sacramento. Encore was reasonable. They sent three men out to the seller's house to move it out. These guys worked together like a well-oiled machine, and they were strong, too. It would have been really hard for one person to do the job. Our piano was stored at their warehouse overnight before two different men delivered it to our house the next day. Once reassembled, we could see that the instrument was in the awesome shape as when we bought it. The men moved it around the room a few times and made sure the piano was at the right spot before they left. We are grateful for the awesome work the front office staff and the movers provided. My Yamaha Upright U1E piano move was scheduled on one of the hottest days in California. We're all suffering triple digit temperatures so I commend the team who moved my piano so carefully. Their communication is excellent. From scheduling, to narrowing down the 3-hour window, to courtesy calling me 15 minutes before arrival, to focusing on the task at hand, I felt 110% confident that my piano would be handled with utmost care. I live on the second floor, with a balcony and concrete stairs. The team handled it so well, from the manner in which they protected the piano with heavy blankets secured with strapping, to the step-by-step communication in which they navigated every step. I joked with them about moving pianos in Hong Kong, where they use a crane to move the piano out and lower it down into the truck. They affirmed they occasionally use a crane as well. This is a professional moving company. Their heavy blankets are all matching, the strapping is strong and in good shape, and the team is dressed in uniform. My sister is a piano teacher, and she teaches out of our home which is a historic Victorian built in 1877. Needless to say, we were VERY nervous about moving her beloved 6'4" grand piano into our new home. BUT, we knew we could count on Encore because we've used them multiple times before for other jobs and have even recommended them to students. Sure enough, they got the grand in flawlessly and they EVEN thought to put blankets down on our front steps so that the hand truck wouldn't scuff the paint on them. I sure wish my regular movers would have thought of that!! One other thing I have to say about Encore, they are ALWAYS on time. We bought an upright piano from a store on the other side of the country. Our long-distance mover used Encore as their sub for the local delivery. We are doing some work in our front yard, and part of the driveway is dirt instead of hard surface. The rest, and the path to the front door, is paved and easy. I sent them a video and discussed this with them, and offered to put down pavers to provide a continuous hard surface from the street. They said "it's no problem, we can just back the truck in and position the lift gate so it drops the piano to the hard surface." Which was exactly what they did. The whole delivery took ten minutes, with just one interior step between the entryway and living room. And then they upcharged me, saying it was because of the unpaved driveway and needing 3 movers. Edit: NO THEY DIDN'T!! Turns out the long distance moving company, not Encore, was trying to bill me as if Encore had invoiced them, but Encore hadn't - this was a purely fictitious charge made up by the long distance mover. When I caught the long distance company doing this, they waived the upcharge. I apologize to Encore for blaming them for something they didn't do. I revised my rating to 4 stars. read more
