I think it's important to note that when you go in here, you're not gonna find really cheap prices. The prices are still up there. They're just a little bit less than you will find in the actually Nordstrom store and/or Nordstrom online. For me, the main reason I like Nordstrom Rack is their selection of shoes. They have a really big selection of shoes, particularly tennis shoes. They truly have a large amount of all of the name brands. And again, at semi discounted price prices. They're not cheap, but they are below what you would have to pay at the regular Nordstrom stores or most other sporting goods retailers. In terms of clothing, they have a lot of it. They have both a large selection of men and women's clothing. It's truly a vast amount. I don't usually find clothes that catch my eye at this store, but my wife always seems to find something. So, that may let you know of the mindset of the people who shop here. For men, they have a nice selection of suits, sport coats, slacks, and dress shirts. But, they're not exceptionally good deals. Personally, I prefer to go into a shop that is more devoted to those things when I buy such items. For my wife, however, she commonly finds nice dresses, tops, and also, shoes. She too, is a big fan of their shoe department. The one thing I will say is that if you want to get a nice pair of Doc Martens, this is a great place to buy them. They seem to discount Doc Martin's more than they do their other name brand shoes. This is just something to think about. Overall, if you want some high-end clothing, and/or shoes, and/or jewelry, and/or a little bit of anything else that Norstrom offers, this is a good place to purchase it.

I went to the dressing room and the attendant asking me how many items I had, I told them, and they stopped and made me let them count and leave the pack of socks I was carrying on the counter. Someone else took the socks while I was in the room. Next, I wanted some cologne. Took awhile to find someone to open the lock box where they keep it, and they looked at me like I wasn't making sense when I asked for cologne. When I tried to carry it up to go check out, they snatched it out of my hand and carried it straight to the register. Just a bit odd to treat paying customers like they're expecting you to rob them. It will probably make me stick to ordering from the online store in the future.

That's what I call going above and beyond! The shop is full of hip, reasonably-priced women's clothing that you might see in NYC or LA. It's the perfect place to pick up a gift for a girlfriend, with lots of cool jewelry, handbags and accessories. Much of the jewelry is locally made. Be sure to check out the kid clothing and toys upstairs. My brother and sister in law traveled from Chicago for a visit, and swung by the Goose for a gift for my daughter - they also were very impressed with this fun, hip shop and my daughter loves the wooden toy pizza they gave her. It delivered a day before my event and it ended up being the wrong color, despite the worker confirming the color with me before. I didn't have time to get a new dress, so I had to wear a color that did not match with my boyfriend's tux. I called to complain about my issues and they refused to give me any kind of compensation or offer a partial refund for all the issues on their end unless I came to Madison to return the dress, when I live in Milwaukee. Very disappointed in my Von Maur experience. Update 7/21: Von Maur offered to send me a new dress at no extra cost in the correct color! I appreciate customer service taking the time to fix the issue.

I visited Upshift for their Krazy for Kitties event. I saw on Facebook that you could play with…read morekittens and get half off the swap fee, so that was enough to convince me! The swap fee is usually $20, so $10 was even more of a steal. The owner of Upshift, Lindsay, was there to give me a little intro to how things work. I liked the low-key feel of the swap, as in there's no one looking through your bag, and it's not an item-for-item swap. If you bring in two brown bags, you get to take home up to two brown bags! The store is pretty small, so having a bunch of people (and kittens!) in there made it a bit crunched, but everyone was polite and I felt like I had enough room. As usual with thrifting, you have to be ok with digging a bit for jewels. At first I wasn't sure if I'd find things in my size and style, especially since there were some teenagers there browsing with their moms! I wondered if I was too old to be there! But, after just a few minutes of looking through the racks I was able to find some nice pieces -- some casual, some professional, some nice brands. I think that as more and more people start swapping, the options will be even better. There are 2 dressing rooms that you can pop into to try things on, and the lighting and mirrors were great. I love the idea that you can just take something home to try it out, even if you're not sure if it's quite your style -- it doesn't add any cost, so why not? At the same time, it didn't bug me to put things back on the rack -- I was only paying $10 so who cares if it's just a select few items I take, it was still cheap. I also like that I wasn't pressured into taking as much as I brought to swap. I am trying to minimize a bit, so bringing more than I take home is actually quite nice! There is also an online swap available, which is a really interesting idea. Overall, I would come back here to swap. If I have a bag of clothes I'm giving away, might as well take a look for a couple of new-to-me items.

August looked like a good shop when I saw their reviews and their website so I pulled the trigger. I'm glad they still had the size I had been looking for as it was a gift for my lady. Shipping cost was ok but having spent as much as that piece had cost, I was hoping it would be free. No complaints on packaging as it was shipped in a bubble-lined shipping bag. They have a good selection of footwear, outerwear and tees. Plenty of other categories of clothing. Hope to visit the shop one day. My buddy used to play football for the Badgers, I'm gonna tell him about this shop.
