Coming from Florida we were confused on which power provider to choose, and how to even get service in Texas. We only have 1 provider in Florida for everyone. We have been with them for about 4 years, we have two accounts with them, any issue we have had , has been taken care of quickly. Yes it is $10./month, but My time is worth more than $120 per year in order for them to find, set up and manage my account. Could I possibly get a lower rate?? Maybe if I spent hours researching, and I am still not sure, if I do it myself. Have you read a fee disclosure, there is a lot of info that doesn't make sense and not always clearly apple to apples. I just renewed and I got what I think is a great rate (4.7 cents/kwh) plus I did no work except esign a contract, so I am happy! read more

this company is terrible. do not use them. I had a great rate and they took me out of the contract and switched me to another company that has charge me more than almost double and on top of that I was charged an exit fee to leave the last company. They now have said they're going to track it back to the old company which has been going on and I just received my new bill from the company they switch me into for $890. read more

Only giving one star because I cant give any less. This company is a SCAM. They do not find you the cheapest energy. They find you one that has a cheaper rate but dont factor in the numerous "hidden" fees of the companies they promote. Clearly, getting a kickback from the ones they use. They will sign a contract for you under the assumption you want them to. My bills were higher with their "recommendation" by double than they had been in ten years. DO NOT USE. EO locked me into a high rate. They were unwilling to provide any analyses, or even a rational explanation. I spent 1/2 hour on the internet and found a much better deal, which will save considerable $$ - even after I pay the early termination fee. We have been with Energy Ogre for several years and it was the best decision ever. Electric bill in the summer used to top out between $500 and $600 a month. Now my highest electro bill has been $260 and that was for Aug or Sept. I have probably saved thousands. I have never been charged a connection fee when they have changed my provider. 0 Star I lost power yesterday 08/24/2020 without my knowledge , the last time I got email from Energy Ogre was on 08/18/2020 which says everything was good and I don't need to worry about anything. But why did my power got disconnected? I paid Energy Ogre and contracted with it on 08/14/2020, and called Energy Ogre same time , whoever answered my call said my new provider would be ready in 4 business days. One of our local news stations did a story about Energy Ogre awhile ago. Their consumer reporter used Energy Ogre (Steve Noviello on Fox 4) and said how much money he saved. I have been with my energy provider for 14 years I switched. My bill with my old carrier was $367.00 last month due to it being so cold. My bill with my new carrier this was $89.00 is about half of what I was paying on average with my old electric provider. Energy Ogre made the process very easy!!! Energy Ogre has messed me up big time! I signed up with them in Aug 2021 and they got me on a contract with PowerNext, set up the account and autopay. In September this year I get a notice from PowerNext that I terminated the contract and would have to pay early termination fee. I send an email to Energy Ogre asking what's going on and they don't respond until I send a message through their website about 2 weeks later. The bill from PowerNext is 4 times more than what I'd typically pay and Energy Ogre is telling me that I'm the one who renewed the contract with PowerNext - and it's not their fault. How now? I've never interacted directly with PowerNext. I'm so angry right now. Horrible company read more

Just want everyone to know that when I first signed up, I did get a 6 month plan that was at a great rate and then when that service was up, they got me into a 1 year contract that was not great at all. So just recently, they sent a new electric provider that would take over as my contract was expiring. The company that they chose was at a rate that was too high for me as I found several other plans lower but not as long. I told them that that plan was not exceptable and had them look for another plan. they came back with another plan 10 months that was almost at the same rate as the 12 month. I am going back to choosing my provider on my own again as I feel as though they are not working to get best rate for customers at the time, and are just pushing 12 month contracts. I canceled service with Energy Ogre and got my yearly contract prorated for refund.. read more

I'm so disappointed with the company Energy Ogre recommended for me this time around. My rate is over 20 kWh (with fees to Centerpoint). More than double what I was paying last year. I wish they had given me a heads up that my rate was doubled. Instead, I got a chipper "congratulations! We've found the best possible company for you!" email, as always, and I trusted that they really had. I didn't even question it. Shame on me, and shame on them for not finding something better. My bills are always in the $150 range in June. (I live alone in a tiny townhouse.) Imagine my shock when I got a bill for $505 from Southwest, the company they picked for me. (And for this I'm paying Energy Ogre $$ every month?) It took less than 24 hours to find a company with a much lower rate, so I cancelled with SW and guess what. . .now I owe a $175 cancellation fee on top of the $505 bill. Thanks a lot, Energy Ogre. I cannot recommend Energy Ogre as they have taken my money and failed to find me a new service provider. My electric contract expired on July 31, 2022 and I had to go out on my own and find a new provider. I have sent this company two messages from the APP and received two emails with a ticket number and have heard nothing back from them. I really enjoyed using their service for the amazing savings and "best rates" for utilities, until they contracted me under two different utility companies. I have worked tirelessly to resolve this and have since then had to file a formal complain with the Texas Public Utilities Commission which is now an on-going investigation due to their fraudulent activity. I have saved tons over the past 7 years with energy ogre but they have changed. If you notice your contract will almost always end during peak price increases (right before or during summer). They dont do busniess with gexa, amigo, frontier, constellation, just energy, tara to name a few of the cheaper per kwh plans. They get contracts you cant find on power to choose for obvious reasons (kick backs). It was a good ride, but now its about greed. Thanks for the past savings. read more

I can't say how disappointed I am their response to the current crisis in electricity prices. Neither energy ogre nor any electric company seems to understand a salaried position is a fixed income. $680 electric bills are not acceptable. Energy ogre has permanently lost my business. I was able to save 35% without any help from them. It is unfortunate that Texas claims all of this energy independence and Texans suffer because of price gouging and rich companies lining their pockets. Wish I could give them 0 stars. When they are trying to get your business they treat you like you are their only customer, doing everything they can to help you find the best service and I will admit they did save us money. But when it is time to renew or find a new plan you can forget any customer service. They do not ask what type of plan you want, if anything has changed, etc. They just sign you up with whatever company they choose. If you try to ask questions or email them for any reason you can forget it. Months and no replies. You can get a response if you post negative reviews online. Save your money and take the time to do the research yourself. Any respectable company will answer all your questions, so you can find the right one for you. read more

If you are looking to switch electric providers to save a little money check out this company. They analyze all the offers out there and handle all the switching without you having to do anything and just charge a small monthly fee I think it is well worth it. The offers on power to choose have gotten very tricky to figure out the best one to choose. read more

I would never recommend Energy Ogre to anybody i call a friend. Energy Ogre enrolled me on to Constellation (a really really bad provider) who cancelled my enrollment on Friday, the day EO enrolled me. I along with one of the EO Rep connected with Constellation on the following Monday, to understand the reason. We were given the information that Constellation Customer Representative (not the agent we were talking to) can only provide the information. Assuming the worst, we tried to find another provider. I found on my own that i don't need to worry about for 36 months and requested Energy Ogre service cancellation since i don't really have the time to connect with a energy provider every once in 4 months. Now i find Constellation has also reinstated my service! So i am caught between a rock and a hard place. While i appreciate what the EO Rep and EO are attempting to do; i don't think the service is mature enough for me to recommend to folks i call friends... read more

It started off great but then they wanted to sign me up for a 12 month plan. I found a better one on PowerToChoose and had to send it to them!! What am I paying you for? They refunded that months membership. A few months went by and I got an email that they found a better deal, I'd have to pay a cancellation fee to the other provider but I'd recover it quickly. I went on PowerToChoose again and found a much better 24 month plan. I promptly canceled these clowns. You can get better deals just by shopping around. I signed up for the service three years ago, and I was shocked when I got my first bill and I went from 500 a month, to under 200. My bill still has not been over 200 since and under 100 in the winter. I highly recommend Energy Ogre. read more

We have been Ogres since March of 2016. We could not be happier with the service that we get from Energy Ogre for only $10 per month. They have saved us SO MUCH money over our previous energy provider... probably several thousand dollars! So I just paid $10 with the expectation that I'll be paying another $10/mo for 11 more months for Energy Ogre to monitor my power usage and continuously compare it against rates and switch my provider accordingly. What did they do? They signed me up for a 1yr contract with a $200 ETF. They didn't send it to me first to approve it or anything. Bam, one year contract that isn't even an impressive rate compared to everything comparable that I see on powertochoose. It's a 9.3c overall (renewable) rate and there are at least 4 of the exact same 9.3c 2kw 100% renewable options on this page as I'm looking at it. And I'm supposed to pay you to do nothing for the next 11 months for this? Not only that I specifically checked that I was moving to a new place. Why would I want to lock in a 1yr contract based on the power consumption of my PREVIOUS older home and not do 1-2 months no contract or a 3 month contract first then do a year? Ok, you're not mind readers and were just going by the moving form (that has no area for commenting) but come on. You should be asking questions if a customer submits a moving form. "Do you expect to use your previous level of power?" "Is the new home 30 years newer?" "Is the new home 30 years older?" "Are there significant power/hvac improvements between the places?" "Should we not go near a full-term contract the first few months until we've stabilized your new addresses power consumption?" Absolute joke. If you have any sense you don't need this service. I didn't but figured if they actually did switch providers and manage rates throughout the year that'd be pretty cool. But nope, I got a year contract out of it and they'll be sitting around doing nothing for me for the next 11 months. read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. Let me tell you a (not so) little story about a company's inability to handle a simple request and how little they truly care about their customers. On April 27th, 2017, Energy Ogre was notified that I was moving. The customer service representative I spoke with was cordial and assisted me in transferring my service provider, Gexa Energy... Or so I thought. It turns out, rather than transferring my service, the Energy Ogre representative cancelled my contract entirely (something that was completely unnecessary) and caused my account with Gexa Energy to go into collections. On June 13, 2017, I received and promptly forwarded a past due notice from Gexa Energy stating that my account had been "switched to another retail electric provider, leaving an outstanding balance for amounts owed." In addition to forwarding the past due notice from Gexa Energy, I contacted Energy Ogre and spoke with multiple customer service representatives who assured me that the matter would be promptly taken care of. Having had multiple communications with both Energy Ogre and Gexa Energy from June 13, 2017 to June 19, 2017 (SIX DAYS), I was assured that the invoice would be paid and that this issue was resolved. On November 21, 2017, I received and promptly forwarded yet ANOTHER past due notice from Gexa Energy, dated November 15, 2017. During a continued string of phone calls and emails with various customer service representatives from November 21, 2017 to November 29, 2017, I was again reassured that the matter would be taken care of. Fast forward to January 2018 when I began receiving numerous phone calls and letters from AllianceOne Receivables Management Inc., noting that my account with Gexa Energy had been referred to their office for collections. I ONCE AGAIN notified Energy Ogre on February 9, 2018 - this time requesting any and all information on my account for potential litigation. The customer service representative told me that they would compile all necessary documents and forward them to me when possible - something that never happened. I finally received a phone call and voicemail from Energy Ogre LLC's Director of Quality Assurance, Angel Wilson. Ms. Wilson apologized that the incident had carried on as long as it had (almost a year at this point) and sent me an unsolicited check for an amount that was not only insulting, but laughable. The actual amount didn't even cover what was originally charged, and they were attempting to pay me off with a year of their service (LIKE I WANT TO CONTINUE). After almost an entire year, April 2017 to February 2018, of continuous back and forth with multiple customer service representatives, empty promise after empty promise, dealing with an outside debt management agency, and a credit score potentially left in ruins, here I am. As an individual who's paying for college, saving for marriage, and saving to buy a house and start a family, my credit score is one of the most important things I'm in possession of. With Energy Ogre LLC's continued negligence and utter disregard for their customers well being, I'm left questioning the certainty of my future and my purchasing power. I'm submitting this review anywhere I can, including with the BBB, and am in the process of filing suit against Energy Ogre LLC and their parent company Net-Zero Energy. I urge you to think twice before trusting this company with your future. They've already harmed mine and they certainly don't care if they harm yours. read more

When I signed up I had a contract with an energy provider. Energy Ogre let it expire and left me without a plan for a month while they were "analyzing". They did not even know till I called to see what was going on. I understandably was annoyed at the fact that the whole service I am paying for is for them to pick a plan that is cheaper and left me without a contract for almost a month which is much more expensive! They said that they wouldn't charge me the $10 for their service for the next month and that a manager would call in the next few days. They still charged me $10 and a manager never called. I called again and they said a manager would call me back by the end of the day and they wouldn't charge for next month. A manager never called and we will see about next month, but I am not holding my breath. read more

I do not recommend Energy Ogre. We have been with them for a year or so and all was well until we made a decision to purchase a RV and travel the country for 2 years. We attempted to cancel our service and in order to avoid the cancellation fee we were asked to provide documentation of our new residence. Well, we have no permanent residence. We provided a bill of sale for the RV, but that was in my wife's name and the electric is in mine, so it was denied. I understand rules, but there are no provisions for our situation and an unwillingness to bend on there part. Clearly a money grab. read more

We have had nothing but excellent service and experience with EO. We first heard about them on our Nextdoor app and I decided to check it out. Best decision we have ever made in regards to utility bills. Our bill is always 40-50% less (sometimes even more) than it has been in years. We have been with EO for over 2 years now and have recommended them to many friends who are amazed at the money they are saving. I am happy to say we have yet to have a bad experience, always get excellent customer service, and are saving money! Thank you Energy Ogre for simplifying this process and saving us money. read more

OK people, please read, take note, and get serious. I gave this company one star to get you to read this. I did some research on this company and they look legit and they have some good reviews. However, if you look at their FAQ (and this is exactly what I was looking for) you will see the section: Why do you need my Social Security Number and Date of Birth?. This means that every power providing company they try to select for you will receive your social security number and your birth date. They get it to check your credit worthiness. Whether you are approve or not, all these companies will have your critical personal data. That's a big red flag to me! I've been with my power provider forever and I simply negotiate with them. Are you willing to expose your critical personal data? Google, Target, Facebook, Capital One, and Transunion (one of the big three credit reporting agencies) have all been hacked. You don't think these small town power providers can't be hacked). I'm not willing to take the chance. It's all about minimizing exposure to your critical personal data. I only deal with one company, not 20. Just a thought to keep your data save. read more

Had heard they could find you the best deal on power and save you a lot of time on the legwork. I filled out their pre-signup form and got a "Congratulations! Our estimate looks like we can save you $1100 a year on your light bill!" So I finished the sign up and authorized them to charge my credit card for ten bucks. After whacking my card for $10, the response is "It looks like you already have the best deal, but we will keep looking every month! I declined to participate, not really happy about wasting ten bucks on a misleading pitch, but I figured might keep an eye on the energy market from time to time. Called them again and they said they would get back to me with some great deals. Not only did I not get a call, text or email. BUT in looking over my bank statements, they've been randomly charging my credit card ten bucks, maybe when they needed a six-pac of beer for the office? I'm disputing the charges.
