Stay as far away as possible. Saved no real money year 1. Ended up paying about the same as the previous year - actually more when you factor in the $120 I paid Energy Ogre. I moved out of the property almost a year to the date and terminated services. 6 weeks later, WITH ANOTHER RESIDENT ALREADY LIVING IN THE SAME PROPERTY and receiving their electricity from their own provider, Energy Ogre signs me back up with them for a full year (without any contact regarding renewal billing btw, just hits my card) and then signs me up for a middling YEAR LONG CONTRACT for a house I no longer live at and, again WHICH HAS ALREADY BEEN GETTING POWER FROM ANOTHER PROVIDER. Of course, "my" new provider OUR ENERGY is happy to charge me anyway while delivering quite literally nothing in return and IS TRYING TO HIT ME WITH A EARLY TERMINATION FEE TO BOOT. Why would anyone pay Energy Ogre $120 to sign them up for a long term contract? I could have done that for free. They make one phone call and they're done working on your behalf for a year. Trust me, save yourself the time, money and aggravation and make the call yourself. Also, and perhaps most importantly, how did Energy Ogre and Our Energy manage to charge for services which are not even deliverable? Further, they claim that my wife never called to cancel our service with them, so they just kept charging us and "working" (1 phone call) on our behalf. How very convenient. Just blame the customer. Check the BBB listing and you will see that this is a scam technique: "I have been selecting my electricity provider myself for years but this year I decided to try with Ogre Energy. They selected a 12 month contract even that in the web site they indicate they do that in rare cases. I decided that their $10 month charge was not worth and requested cancellation of membership. It has been 3 requests and my account still active. They keep calling me back asking me what do with my membership. My membership cancellation requests have been very clear". Yeah, Sergio. Rocky start so far. Only positive so far is they do respond to emails. The previous company I was using never responded to emails so I always had to call which was inconvenient. I have spent more time than I think is necessary following up with Energy Ogre to correct their incorrect information. After signing up on their website and providing my consent (and login credentials for my current online account with the current provider) for them to perform an analysis they informed me as part of my analysis that my contract end date with my current provider was September 17 so if I approve their plan they will get back with me close to that date. From my online account page it was clear the contract ended on August 17 and not September 17. The explanation I received is that my most current bill stated my current plan is effective through my meter read on or after August 17 and that the next meter read date after was September 17. I did send a screenshot of the online account page (that they could see with the credentials I provided) that clearly showed Contract End date is August 17 and it also clearly showed that the $75 cancellation fee did not apply if cancelled within 14 days of the date listed in the Contract End Date field. I was told they would update the information and if everything else on the analysis was satisfactory that I was okay to accept the recommendation which I did. Now I'm within 14 days of my contract expiring and nothing yet from EO. I followed up with another email asking what date my new service would start. Now a reply from someone else other than the person that said they would make note of the correct contract date with the same explanation that I was good until September 17 unless I was sure I was not going to be charged a cancellation fee. I just again forwarded the screenshot that had been provided in the previous email to show the contract end date. At this point I'm hoping this is a process issue and they need to look at someone owning a new customer up to signup with an energy provider. Definitely room for process improvement and hope this is not a sign of things to come in working with EO. I signed up to spend less time on this process, not more. read more

Ive got nothing but good things to say about using Energy Ogre!!! I signed up on-line - and they have been responsive and proactive in getting my new energy savings up and running! I like that you have one place to go to see your dashboard. Its a bit overwhelming to try to manage this all your self - they were able to get me a rate better than what I currently had with TXU and better than what TXU offered me when I called and talked to them. Like so many other services, Energy Ogre lost their way. I had the service for over three years and they did save me some money on my electric bill by switching providers every couple of months. The last three months they have "phoned it in". I had a rate increase of over 50% on my monthly bill, had my autopay feature not work, had to call energy ogre and my electric company to investigate.....all to find out that they dropped the ball, signed my up for a terrible year long contract, and refused to fix their mistake. Do Not Use this company...Use to be good but are now terrible. read more

I signed up and waited about a week without hearing from them. I then called and was told that my provider was identified and that I would hear from them soon. I got an email identifying the provider and all seemed smooth. Then I got an email telling me to call them because the provider needed more information. I left a message and never heard back. read more

I signed up for Energy Ogre, and was getting the quotes they sent me. I then chose an electric company, and started getting calls from the company I chose. I ended up paying a deposit, due to a late payment on my last company, which I paid through the company I chose. On the day they went to change my elec to them, they called me to tell me they declined the change, due to my electricity company changing the day before. I had to wait until Monday to find out that since I paid the deposit directly to the company I chose.... Energy Ogre with out telling me chose a company for me. I couldn't get out of the contract with the company they chose because they wanted an early cancel fee... WTF? I didn't authorize Energy Ogre to change it, even though they say its in the contract. Why then did they send me emails so I could choose one myself? I am so mad, and I will never do business with them ever again! read more

We signed up for a year and got a month free. So Energy Ogre signed us up for a year with Green Mountain for a year. Wow, the highest bills we ever had was 160.00 since 2005 and that was a very hot Texas summer. I explained to them that our house is all electric. We got a bill for 242.96. I called and they asked if I left the microwave plugged in??? I have never unplugged it. I know a lot of people swear by EO. I was not impressed they took my money and signed me up for a year under a lot higher bills than we have ever had and then 120 bucks to EO for the year. Something rotten here. Totally a scam, I tried this out for 6 months and they switched my electric company twice. Both times I was charged for an activation fee from the new company of almost 30 dollars. I noticed no difference in the price of my bill on the first switch, but the second my bill jumped from $85 to $147 not including the $30 dollar activation fee.....Learn from my mistake don't trust this company. read more

We got our first electric bill today with our new electric company, and it was only $158. Then I calculated what it would have been with the old electric company plan, and it would have been around $334. We saved about $176 this month! Energy Ogre is definitely worth it!! Thank you. read more

They signed me up for a plan that wasn't the right one for me. I ended up paying more than double during the summer months. Customer service didn't care that I was dissatisfied. They definitely can't claim to have 100% customer satisfaction guarantee. read more

Energy Ogre has done a fantastic job of saving me and my family and friends hundreds of dollars a year on our electric bills. Do yourself a favor and check out their service and how much they can save you on your electric bill. read more

We are saving LOTS of money over our previous provider, which actually had a good rate, but we found we could do even better letting Energy Ogre manage our service. The EO monthly fee of $10 is nothing compared to our monthly savings. Easy to join and definitely worth looking into for yourself. I have no affiliation with EO other than being a very satisfied customer. read more

Don't waste $10/month for them to handle your energy provider needs. Right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. Even after I told them I didn't want to do business with Startex anymore, they sent an analysis for me to sign up with Startex! Clueless customer service. You can find better providers on your own for the same plan while saving $120/year. read more

I signed up w/Energy Ogre back in Feb but due to gmail filtering Energy Ogre emails to the "Promotions" tab I didnt see the first analysis until it had already expired. When I clicked the link to see said analysis I was greeted with the following message: "Oh snap! The rate plan we recommended is no longer available! We will email you a new Bill Analysis shortly." I never received another analysis so I called in and voiced my concern that as a paying customer I still havent received my new analysis. The rep apologized and almost immediately sent a new analysis, they also reimbursed one of the two months that I had paid for...I approved the switch based on the new analysis and received a thank you email for doing so BUT nothing happened.....Again I wait only to find a new analysis was sent the day after approving the other one. I have to call in again to which the rep (Cassey) stated that even though I approved the switch 4 hours after receiving the offer, said offer had expired in that time frame (literally 3 hours and 52 minutes from receipt to approval.) Cassey immediately sent a new offer and after I asked she reimbursed the past two months I paid, so from February through May I should only be out $10 as long as there is follow through on the refund. Ive approved the new offer and will follow up once everything is resolved. Ive upped my rating of Energy Ogre due to the fact they are still in infancy, trying to work out the bugs, they have admitted their mistake, apologized and tried to make right w/a refund. Fingers crossed things go up from here! read more
