We scheduled them to give us a knee-wall estimate ONLY. I was very clear about this with the nice girl on the phone. She verified that is what would happen when she re-confirmed the appointment. I never got any estimate for the knee wall, because he noticed we were not going to agree to cutting holes in the ceiling, roof and siding, in order to do the entire house. "I want to get you on the schedule today." He finally agreed to email(2) separated estimates. One for the knee wall the other for "demolishing our cape." Nothing....hard pressure sales tactics. We bought our home last December and quickly realized we were in need of insulation. When you buy a new home it takes a while to get to know its quirks, what it needs and set a timeline for improvements. We put insulation at the top of the list. Our oil delivery costs for astronomical. The house didn't retain its temperature so one minute it was warm and the next very cold. The furnace was constantly coming on and off. A huge expense for our family. Once we had the insulation installed along with air sealing around our entire home we were hoping the next winter would go better. So now that it's winter we can say that our furnace does not constantly click on. Our home retains the heat. We set our thermostat at around 66 degrees knowing it will get up to 68 and sometimes 70 if we are cooking. Our oil deliveries have been way less gallons per deliver, we are using less fuel to maintain the heat in our home. Installers were professional. Clive and his team were very considerate of our home, keeping it clean with drop cloths and removing all the old insulation carefully to keep the house from collecting drops of it. It is amazing how they build up walls in the attic with a small space to walk. The air sealing in the basement has been nice because the heat in the finished portion doesn't kick on as much because its not being sucked out of the house. The job was done in one day. It was our first Summer in the house and we had the work done right before that, so I cannot tell you what a previous Summer would have been like but I can only imagine how hard the A/C must have had to work to keep the house cool. And, the cost must have been really high. Our A/C is in the attic so they insulated the duct work to each room as well. Keeping the air traveling in the duct work cool as it traveled from the a/c to the room. Meaning again, it doesn't have to work so hard to keep the house cool. Genius! This is a story about Dr. Energy Saver in Seymour, CT. It all started when the fall of 2011 was upon us and it was getting colder. We had discovered that the house that we had bought in the early summer didn't hold any warmth at all. So we went searching on the internet for contractors that did whole house insulation work. no matter what we typed into the google search engine,it always came back to the same toll free number. We called on a Monday and they agreed to send a sales person out to evaluate our house later in the week. Salesman arrives with his smoke gun, his blowing fan and a computer to analyze how much air is passing thru our house. This is a pretty slick tool that he's got. It produces some high numbers. We check them out and figure that if we can cut our heating bill by a third each year, then we should be able to recoup our investment in 3-5 yrs..... We give them a deposit and the salesman goes away.... Two weeks later the crew arrives in their shiny trucks. They cut a hole in the 2nd floor hallway to gain access to the attic crawl space where they proceed to blow in 13" of new cellulose. They remove all the old insulation in the basement, seal up all the cracks and use a 2 part spray foam to insulate the walls and ceiling joint at the sill plate. They also re-caulked the 2 outside doors and said the wouldn't leak again. What could be better... At this point its the end of the day and the project supervisor calls into tell the shop supervisor that they have to come back the following day to finish the job. The owner, a Larry Janeski, gets on the phone and proceeds to tell me that his crew can't come out the following day because they are booked someplace else. (It seems that the owner decided that my 4 bedroom 2500sq.ft' house could all be done in one day). My house is half finished and this guy wants me to let his crew come back the following evening after 6pm to finish ,what he thinks is a couple of hours of work. I say NO, thats not going to happen. I tell him that he needs to schedule a day that his crew can spend a full day here to finish the job. After several calls and haggling,they said they would come day after thanksgiving, we stayed home for them, only one guy showed, so we had to stay home the next day, that Saturday. Saturday comes, 5 guys show up along with a guy they all call Coach. (seems that 'Coach' is a partner in this company or something) They all get to work and spend the day. At the end,They hooked up their blower, after they put an inflatable bag in the living room chimney to block any air that will be pulled thru the flue in the chimney, and ran their test again. Sure, with the bag, the numbers were skewed to make it look like they did a better job than they actually did, and they go on their merry way. Several days pass and I start finding spaces that this crew that works for this company has missed. It also rained after they had left and guess what? The basement doors still leak. (I sent them a picture figuring that 1 picture is worth a thousand words) I call them and can't get them to respond to come out and finish their job. I have been on their website and have requested a call back to no avail. They have our money and aren't interested in taking care of their issues. Since I can't get a response from them I have had to go out and buy the necessary materials to finish the job myself. Methinks that I'm going to send them a bill when I'm done. I would be very careful about hiring this company to do any kind of work on any house again. read more

I hired these guys in an attempt to make my drafty cape-style home more comfortable. Their initial estimate for work to my attic spaces and the basement was WELL over what I could afford, being a first time home owner with two small children. Explaining my financial concerns, the contractor who performed my estimate informed me that I would still get the positive results I was looking for from Air Sealing and Re-Insulating my attic. This procedure, though not as costly as the full compliment of "repairs" that I "needed" was still a large financial commitment, but one I decided to undertake to make my home more comfortable. The team came to my home and I was initially very excited to be finally making strides to a more comfortable living space. Then a problem... unfortunately it was going to be HUNDREDS of dollars MORE out of pocket THAT DAY to get the services I needed because they realized they would need more specialized equipment to remove some of the existing insulation in my home. I reluctantly paid for it thinking this was an essential yet regrettable oversight that had to be dealt with. So after the team had completed everything and had left I was ready to enjoy my newly insulated, comfortable home. UNFORTUNATELY I COULD NOT and still CANNOT because there has been absolutely NO change in the draftiness or heat retention of my first level of my home. Indeed the only changes I have noticed are that the storage space in my attic has been DRAMATICALLY reduced and my wallet is thousands of dollars lighter. Oh yes, and the godawful cellulose dust everywhere. Upon contacting Dr. Energy Savers with my concerns, they did send someone to asses the work. Unfortunately again, I was essentially told to go pound sand as the "work was all good" and I just have a number of other factors which will "have to be fixed also" in order to get the results I was looking for (???) and offered absolutely no resolution for me except to drop more of my hard-earned money on yet another project from these people. Obviously, I am perturbed as I was told that this Insulation and Air Sealing service was indeed supposed to have gotten me SOME results.. NOPE Save your money and use it to buy a decade's worth of cordwood or an exceptionally nice space heater. I wish I did. read more

I had them come out to my home to get a price to install blow in insulation over my garage. (garage under house) There price seemed extremely high to me so I called another company who someone referred me to and there price was over $2000.00 less. Needless to say they got the job and they did a great job and very clean. My advise is to make sure you get a second quote before using them. read more

My husband and I just had our insulation completed in Manchester, CT by David Hicks, and Moses. They were excellent!! David was thorough and explained everything that he was doing. I've made about 5 appointments with these guys. They are horrible. They never came out to get me my free audit. The last time I called, the customer rep said they didn't feel that I would be a viable customer, as in, they didn't think I would make them money. That's really too bad because I was ready to drop $50,000 of work to do. They are a bad company, just like Basement Systems and Total Basement Finishing. Please take your money some where else as the quality of service is bad, you can only imagine how bad the actual work will be. read more
