Pretty disappointed. Based on Yelp, I expected at least acceptable. I really do not consider myself a food snob. I mean, I love gas station hot dogs! But not this. :( BLT- less than good. Seriously, how does one screw that up? Well, I'll ask the kitchen crew, because they did. It just tasted off? maybe Miracle Whip instead of mayo? I'm not sure. It just wasn't right. Side salad- Less than fresh. But edible. Boring. Chicken fingers- pretty decent. A little dry, but ok. Fruit salad- disgusting!! This was a great place to eat for breakfast. I got one of their potato platters and the portions were great for the price. For two meals and two drinks we only had to pay about $18.00. A couple of cons are that it is pretty crowded and we have a little one so trying to maneuver through those tables with a carseat is pretty difficult. Also, if it is your first time going there it is a place where you take your money up to the register and pay up front. Our waitress had not informed us of that and since it was our first time going there we sat there with our money out for awhile before I decided to go up to the front and ask. We decided to try this place based on other yelp reviews and not a lot of other options on the way home. It is in a cool old fire station with memorabilia on the walls......some with quite a bit of dust. The women's toilet definitely needs a new toilet seat and actually the entire restaurant could use a scrub down. Not so much that I was concerned about the food but just a good general cleaning. The food was okay but nothing special. I had an omelet, hash browns and sourdough toast. My husband had eggs benedict. Both plates filled the void in our stomachs but again nothing special. The servers(2) seemed bored with minimal interaction; we were never checked on once we received our food and we had to "flag" her down to get refills on our water glasses. My wife and I came here after a 25 mile bike ride. This we ordered a lot of food. I enjoyed my prime rib sandwich. The wife's grilled chicken sandwich was very dry. Her steamed vegetables from a bag were overlooked. The garlic in the garlic mashed potatoes did not seem to have been roasted prior to adding it. We both had pie. My strawberry rhubarb pie was ok. Went for breakfast and was pleased. My eggs were exactly as ordered (over medium) which most placed don't know how to do. Was it over the top, out of this world better than everyone else, no. They were even part with the "big guys" like Village Inn or IHOP. But unlike them the prices were much much better. The potato platters looked amazing but since I don't eat eggs, meat or cheese I opted for the Cranberry Nut pancake and coffee. It was really good. The hubs just got eggs, sausage and wheat toast and he really enjoyed it. The restaurant has a lot of character since it's in an old fire station and has lots of firehouse memorbilia on the walls. If this is a good breakfast in Lincoln then Lincoln is doing breakfast wrong. The service was terrible. Four women serve and host all of the tables in the dining room which leads to a very confusing and stand-offish feel. We were "greeted" with a grunt of "two???????" And then our silverware and menus were thrown on the table. Every time we said thank you we were met with silence and a brisk turn to another table. The scrambled eggs were brown, the hashbrowns tasted like old oil, the toast was soft (aka not toast) and buttered with unsalted butter, and the chicken fried steak was a frozen patty deep fried until luke warm with packet/mix white gravy slopped on top. Basically this place was the biggest let down. I can tolerate subpar breakfast food when the service is good. The service was the worst we had on our 4,000 mile road trip. read more

We had the rib-eye for two ($30.00) and it was amazing. The rib-eye was perfectly cooked the way I like it (medium), it was perfectly seasoned and tasted amazing. It was so tender that I almost didn't need a knife to cut it. In addition, I had the homemade french fries which could have been a bit crispier, but they were still very good. The meal came with the soap and salad bar. I tried their homemade chili soup and it was delicious. There was a small but nice variety of salads on the salad of which I suspect were homemade. It has a great charm to it and I like the setup: four friendly women hosting and waiting the tables (it's not a very large place) with pretty decent service. The owner is a very nice man, too! The juice came from a machine, so you can taste the chlorine from the tab water, the "5 Alarm" was a NO alarm, not even the jalapeños on top, and then the best egg benedict in the whole universe, two over medium eggs on top of a muffin, covered with a watery sauce and a sprinkle of paprika. The sauce taste like imitation butter and lemon, overpowering any other ingredients, if it has more, not the best of anywhere, maybe they have never had one before or left Lincoln.
