I've always heard of great things from my parents when they bought their sets when they were our age. So naturally we wanted to continue to support our families favorite furniture store. Normally, I like to leave good reviews with businesses in my hometown; however, I have a terrible experience with a business here and I thrive off of both good and bad business reviews when I go shopping so here's my experience. I hope it's helpful to those around that are looking for furniture for their home, be cautious. Ask more questions do more research before you purchase a very expensive large non-returnable item. I'm talking thousands of dollars! We wish we bought from LoveSac online now instead of Engles. We purchased almost an entire house of new furniture for our new home, but my biggest complaint is of our couch. We bought their largest sectional couch. I spoke to them several times concerning a couch that would hold up to animals and children, one that was easy to clean. Should it got dog hair on it and one that was easy to clean, should my children get any messes on it themselves. I asked for it to have fabric that was easy to wipe things off, and easy to vacuum. We've owned this couch now for 2 years, my former furniture a lazy boy set with imitation leather I had purchased from Engles it was more comfortable and held up to animal fur and child messes so much better! I miss those 2 couches compared to this one. We had a home built and purchased a new couch to put in it with the intention It would be comfortable and seat a large group. It is a practical couch and it does its job. It can fit a large group. It is somewhat comfortable to a point, It's tolerable, but it is not what we paid for! What we got when we received our couch was something that the entire back did not line up it looks crooked. If you take all the seat cushions off, there's sections of the couch that are higher than the rest. It was built uneven when we put in a complaint requesting that it be fixed , We were told that it was built to toleration levels according to the manufacture. Because of these different levels, I have noticed that the cushions don't stay placed correctly the pillows that go on the back of the couch are constantly sliding. The Shea part that starts the couch off where you put your legs up constantly slides down. It doesn't stay, it was missing a bracket or it should've had a bracket to keep attached because it constantly slid away from the rest of the couch and came unhinged, damaging our floor because of the way it kept coming apart! It clearly was not put together well. Engles with their customer service did respond promptly and well with our complaints regarding this couch; however, I'm not happy with our turn out. We still have a terrible couch that is just extremely hard to clean dog hair sticks to it like Velcro every time I go vacuum and it pulls strands out causing runs in the fabric, it is extremely difficult to clean. I had asked for a Scotchgard to be put on it or some kind of stuff that they do at the factory, they claim they did but when you pour water on this couch by accident, it doesn't roll off like it did on my La-Z-Boy furniture it puddles up and causes a soak spot. If either of my children happen to get a mess on there I have found it is not easy to clean. I have to scrub really hard, or finger pick things out! Two things were specifically asked for in this couch 1. FABRIC, 2. EASY TO CLEAN concerning animal hair and children. It is not. I am overall disappointed and not satisfied with Engles and will not be using their services again. The fabric is scratchy and uncomfortable to me, I wanted something soft and non-itchy. I will say that Engles did try their best that they claim is their best. I don't know if I'd say it's their best but they did refund a small amount and I mean SMALL towards the purchase of our couch for the inconveniences we issued. Honestly I think it would've been right to redo the whole couch and take it back and let us pick out something that was actually tolerable in my opinion because overtime this couch is not tolerable, it is very difficult. I used to enjoy cleaning my former couch. It was very satisfying. To see whatever dirt was on it watching it being sucked up by the vacuum or wiped off easily by a wet rag. I actually like to clean I love to see things fresh and sparkling However this new couch, I have to hand pick the dog hair off. I have to carefully very carefully vacuum it in certain spots, and even if I wipe it with a damp rag nothing comes off as they claim it would! I hate cleaning my couch! This couch takes me hours to clean! Then the dog hair is right back on it. And my dogs don't even get on the couch! Their hair floats onto it. I vacuum and clean daily and most of the time my floors are usually so clean you could eat a meal off of them (I don't endorse that though) my couch however, ohhhhhh mad face ohhh mad face. read more

OK NB and CB people...if you are in the market for any new furniture... ANY... I give my full endorsement to Engles Furniture in NB. If I could give them 10 stars on all those places where you leave rankings...I would! Dennis has gone beyond and above what I could ask for and I have been dealing with him long distance! My father needed a new recliner. Step-mom picked one out, it was delivered, but unfortunately it didn't really meet Dad's needs. Without question or hesitation, Dennis said an exchange was no problem - even though the chair was on sale. Normally, everywhere I been, sale items are final! Dennis took the time to personally select a new chair, based on what my Stepmom had admired. Then he not only credited the full price of the original chair - he even threw in a discounted price for the new one! This customer is 1,000% satisfied! read more

Being new to Coos Bay, my wife and I are still familiarizing ourselves to the stores and wares found in town. One of the immediate items we had to get were extra mattresses and frames and we had less than two weeks to get them in preparation for out-of-state family's visit. Terrance helped us out and we couldn't ask for better assistance! Not only was he extremely knowledgeable, but also spent the extra time to make sure we were 100% happy! We were also very impressed with the timely delivery as well as the quality of the items. We will definitely be going back to pick up more furniture soon! read more

Shopped for a living room set. Was greeted by Dennis, who was extremely nice. He was obviously knowledgeable and versed on the entire stock of furniture. The store was very clean and well stocked. We didn't end up making the purchase because we found what we were looking for cheaper on line. I would shop engles again and I highly recommend the store. read more

This company came across as very friendly, knowledgeable (sort of) and in good standing. What happened is otherwise. We purchased a leather ($1,000) recliner. We were told that it was a reputable company and they'd been dealing with them for years. After 5 months, the mechanism began to break down. I called the store and was told they can't/won't do anything, if we wanted it fixed, we could bring it back (we live in Klamath they are in North Bend) and they would put a band-aide on it. I mentioned that it had only been 5 months and wouldn't they stand behind their products? I was willing to bring the chair back so we could exchange it for one that wasn't broken down. The answer was no and the "person" in charge was rude and condescending. I was so upset that I had to hand the phone over to my husband. He gave us the name and email address of the rep that sells these. He is an importer from mostly China, and he was so much more help than Engels. We will never purchase ANYTHING from this group of people ever again. I am so disgusted and stymied by the lack of customer service, it blows my mind. Really?! As an aside, we are in our 50's, no children at home and it is just the two of us. March 2014, in response to the stores reply. There is still no excuse for treating customers rudely or condescendingly. The fact is they are rigid and aren't interested in any type of customer service...other than poor. read more

Engles is a beautiful furniture store in a less than lovely location. Unfortunately most of the downtown North Bend businesses on the block are very old buildings with much needed maintenance. In spite of the location, Engles has upheld a top-notch reputation in this community for more than 3 decades we've lived here. Pricey, but offering the top quality in the area and beyond, this store is a visit into another world if you're shopping for interior design and furnishings for your home. Ultra professional staffing, courtesy, and knowledge about each and every product makes it a joy to shop here. First, you walk in to gorgeous surrounding that are often changing to give you actual decorating ideas. It's very easy to see what furniture would look like in a home setting since, like most good furniture stores, they make their displays paramount to doing business... right next to customer service. Now that, in my opinion, is how it should be! I have purchased furniture here over the years, and would again! I've never been rudely treated, nor made to feel odd for window shopping. I've had offers to come to my home to help evaluate and make selections (above & beyond) and I've had total respect when dealing with one sales rep by being left alone by the others. It's obvious that there is a high level of professionalism in running this business. Could I likely find the same thing elsewhere for less? Maybe... but I'd walk a very long mile to find the kind of service we continue to receive over the years. We purchased about $5,500 worth of leather living room furniture from Engle's about two years ago. A little over a year later, the post going into the base of the leather recliner started wobbling, then tearing up the leather cover of the base itself. I thought the recliner had a one-year warranty, but when I called Engle's the service manager, Ron, researched it and found that the "mechanism" had a two-year parts warranty. He ordered a new base from China. Exactly two months later (yesterday) it arrived. I installed it myself, and we now have a chair that's just like new. Great customer service. Tip: Remember, furniture is almost always "on sale" for about 50% of the"retail" price. read more

I am a fan of the quality of furniture here, not a fan of the overpricing. We wanted to buy a desk that was $590.00 regular price. We really didn't want to spend that much on a desk. They advertised a sale and I called to see if the desk was on sale, I was told yes, we went in and saw the sale price was $590.00, needless to say we were less that pleased. When we conveyed our displeasure, the salesperson stood there with a deer in the headlight stare, we left. We have spent many thousands of dollars at this store, probably won't spend another dime. read more

My wife and I have made several purchases over the years at Engles. We've alway received excellent service both during and after our purchase. Sales associates are knowledgable and low pressure. Their well thought out in store displays make filling and entire room a breeze from the large pieces such as sofas to accessories such as wall mirrors/art, lamps, and side tables. The visual merchandiser obviously has a lot of talent. The prices are fair and they carry high quality items in many price ranges. When one of the recliners we purchased had a defect, the repair process was fairly painless. We've furnished 2 rooms right down to the accessories. Engles does not stand by their products! Bought a leather recliner from them. The leather started flaking off after one year. They replaced the back. A year and a half later the same flaking occurred. They said there was nothing more they could do.
