A couple of the window advertisements caught my eye, and I decided to them both a try. Breakfast Special: I definitely fulfilled my appetite with this massive breakfast which included pancakes, over easy eggs, Taylor ham and hash browns. The portions were so plentiful that I needed more than one plate! The chef substituted a couple slices of regular ham because they only had 3 of the 4 Taylor ham slabs that are included with this special. Although I enjoyed the traditional ham, Taylor ham is the better choice of the two. Mangu Con Los Golpes 5: If you looking for a Dominican spin on a traditional breakfast, this is the perfect pick. The gigantic plate had eggs, fried cheese, Dominican sausage, salami, mashed plantains, and avocados. Initially, I didn't think I was going to have an acquired taste because I was not accustomed to eating this type of breakfast. After a couple bites, I realized I was mistaken; my only regret is that I never explored this plate until now. The only slight disadvantage to this restaurant is the misleading outdoor sign. It lists "Breakfast Lunch Dinner" underneath "Englewood Diner," but the restaurant closes at 3:00 PM every day. It would be recommended to omit "Dinner" to avoid any confusion. On the way to the dentist with some time to kill I popped into the Englewood Diner. Guys let me tell you I saw the reviews, and I thought meh it's a diner how bad can it be? I should have listened to the warning my fellow Yelpers put out there. I got seated in a booth, under the table there were scraps left from the previous occupant of the booth and the menu that was handed to me - extremely sticky. So right off the bat I was not feeling this place. I ordered a coke and a Caesar Wrap - the coke tasted more like pepsi and the Caesar Wrap was nothing to brag about. The diner itself had incense burning inside, not sure why.. it was upsetting me. I kept coughing from it. Then again, the whole restaurant smelled of smoke perhaps they were trying to cover it up. I took my grandmother to lunch here at about 1:30pm. Upon entering the gentleman that seated us was prompt and accommodating. There was maybe 4 other tables in the restaurant and one waitress on staff. Although nice, the waitress was clearly struggling a bit. Once they took our order we sat 45 minutes and nothing. The waitress approached us after 20 min the waitress thanked us for our patience and then made us wait another 25min. When we complained they let us know all the tables sat at once and the kitchen was behind which would have been nice to know when we sat. Aside from that experience in itself, the food was not great. We ordered a French onion soup, one empanada, and one buffalo chicken wrap. The French onion soup was far from traditional and unappetizing, so we sent it back. The empanada was frozen on the inside. The wrap was soggy and leaking all over the plate. Now to end this review, I'd like to mention that the couple that walked in about 25 minutes after us received there food seconds after we received ours so using the kitchen being overwhelmed was not an acceptable excuse to me... will not be returning. read more

First of all, Covid-wise, the restaurant seems to do everything to remain compliant, so that's awesome. I had the BBQ Honk Tonk burger and was thoroughly impressed (even if there was a lot of salt). The diner is more than just the food though, and so is this review. The waitress, Hannah, let me tell her a personal connection I had to the diner through a short story and I appreciate her time and kindness listening to me. The ambiance is excellent, the people are softly spoken and you feel a genuine warmth being there, like you're so much more than just a customer. Service was practically nonexistent, overwhelming smell of fabuloso cleaner, worst mocha I've ever had, home fries tasted old, didn't even toast the toast. The worst part was the bill: $18 for an omelette that was dry and underwhelming, $5 for a mocha that tasted like oatmeal (who puts cinnamon on a mocha?). My husband and I were in Englewood with another family member who was going through a difficult 3 day medical procedure so needless to say we all were a little stressed and anxious. On day one we walked into this diner to pass some time while we waited and ordered breakfast. It was a typical NJ diner and the food was fine. I don't usually write reviews but felt like I really needed to mention our 2 waitresses Hannah and Vanessa. They were so welcoming and friendly and kept making sure we had everything we needed. They let us stay at our table for as long as we needed. We continued to go to this diner every morning for 3 days. Hannah and Vanessa were there each day and were just as welcoming every day. They gave me my water and served me my salad and that was it. No napkin no how is everything, NO SERVICE. The soup wasn't hot it was like warm and the salad was just a salad. Been here a few times for breakfast post-pandemic and have been very pleased. The omelettes always have fresh veggies and the home fries are very good. They have outdoor seating too which is a nice plus. I've been lucky enough to have Hanna as my waitress several times now. She's very personable and delivers excellent service, always. First, we had to ask for sweet and low since they don't keep it on the table. The pancakes and French toast were ok but my husband said the home fries tasted like they were kept in the fridge, uncovered and picked up other flavors. They were dry and "musty". I don't know what was worse the food or the service. They gave us a coffee that was all water. The cappuccino was water as well. The French onion soup was basically chicken fat and grease with onions in it oregano and lemon. It made me feel so disgusting to taste and I can taste the grease and the fat from the chicken skin. I thought French onion soup was supposed to be made out of beef broth. There was not even real bread in it they threw a couple of hard croutons in it which were still hard. We got to the diner at 2 PM our food didn't come till 3 o'clock. there was only two other tables eating besides us. there was five workers sitting around drinking water eating and hanging out. trying to get someone's attention for a water that we ordered when we first walked in was impossible. I had to get up and serve myself and family the water I also had to get up and get my own check and go and pay it myself. I also got up and got my family our own napkins. The only thing left for me to do was go in the kitchen and cook. Then when I received my check they try to hit us with a 15% gratuity fee. when clearly I should have gotten the tips like if I worked there because they basically did serving my family and myself. if you have time to waste and want to eat unhealthy chicken grease soup I highly recommend this place. read more

We ordered three meals to go. The food was prepared quickly and they provided paper products and forks etc. We spent $60 The roasted chicken meal included a small leg thigh piece and a smaller wing breast piece. It was roasted dark and dry. The potato salad was tart and the whole kernel corn was cold. The turkey sandwich on rye was good. It included freshly carved turkey. The Cesar salad dressing was overwhelmingly salty and had too much anchovies. There was no real Parmesan. The romaine lettuce was not crispy. All in all we weren't very satisfied with the food but like the service. It's also great they have parking!! That is a good thing to have In Englewood. I came in for breakfast. I sat there for 15 minutes listening to the waitresses complain about Erika. Left taking only a single bite of my food and no one even noticed. And I could not hear another word about the waitresses private life and this Erika person - who apparently can't keep it real. This is a great town and there are far too many places to eat to ever come to this diner again. What a shame. Because I'm sure the owners spent a lot of time and money in this place. I'm not sure why, but ignored the negative reviews and stopped by for breakfast with my husband this past Sunday. The restaurant could use some renovations as it is pretty old and dated, but the service was great. We sat right away-the place got busy while we were there. Drinks were served right away and the waitress was very nice. I had basic sausage and scrambled eggs with grits-all was delicious. My husband had the Dominican breakfast (which I helped him eat). Everything was excellent. I didn't go to the bathroom so I can't attest to it's condition but I wouldn't expect much considering how old the place is. The only good thing about this place is that it was so hilariously awful that I couldn't wait to get home and review it. I was with 7 family members in New Jersey for my grandfather's unveiling. We were the only people in the diner. Literally. The ordering process took awhile, and the waitress could not seem to answer basic questions about the menu. Then the procession began. 45 (!) minutes after ordering, the waitress came over with two shot glasses filled with butter, put them on the table, and walked away. Alrighty. A few minutes later, she brought out three dishes and gave them to the wrong people. They included bad pancakes, disgusting pesto sauce made from oregano and parsley, instead of basil (?) and cold french fries. After a good ten minute gap, the rest of my family got their meals, with the exception of a missing pancake order that came 15 minutes after everyone was done. We had to ask for the check three times before getting it. I am totally sympathetic to the delay, seeing as a second party of two had since entered the restaurant.
