My wife had the grilled chicken sandwich. Sadly it was lacking seasoning and flavor. We got her a little oil and vinegar on the side to salvage it. She did love the fries and bread as well. Most surprising, we got French onion soup and it had zero flavor. It's pretty hard to mess up French onion soup, even more weird being in a French restaurant. When our original late lunch plans fell through my girlfriend, niece, and I ended up dining at Brasserie. It was around 3PM so the place was pretty empty and we were seated right away. We were the only customers dining in but there was a steady line of people picking up food to-go. Service was very friendly and the food was great. I got the French Dip Au Jus and my girlfriend got the Brasserie Burger with mushrooms and Swiss cheese (cooked medium). My niece is 20 months old so we just decided we'd let her have some bites of our food. The food took a little bit to come out, but I guess that means it really is made to order. I started off with the French Dip and it had a decent amount of meat on it. The bread was nicely toasted and the Jus was super flavorful. My niece actually liked it a lot and dipped her french fries in it. Even without the Jus the sandwich meat was moist and flavorful while the bread did a good job of soaking up the juices and adding crunch. The burger was also surprisingly good. The patty was actually cooked to medium so it was also juicy and flavorful. Mushroom and swiss is an undefeated combo on burgers provided the meat is good, and in this case the meat was quite good. Both entrees came with some fries and greens which were average. We also had black coffee with our food which was pretty good. Service is always good here. Yes they take their time but it's all worth it for great food. The place is well lit, it's a seat yourself place. BYOB! Which is great. The prices are still the best. Nice find as we travelled through... a friendly and welcoming host got us setup and seated quickly. The menu boasts a number of choices, but they weren't trying to be everything to everyone. We enjoyed the roasted cauliflower as a starter. Perhaps a tad more roasting just to firm that up a pinch, but not close to being a problem. The roasted chicken was big, juicy, well cooked and paired nicely with some fat asparagus and perfectly made mashed potatoes. The steak and frites was reported as being on point. For those coming and who enjoy some juice with dinner, they do not have an alcohol license. I visited Brasserie on a whim; I was in Tenafly and I let Yelp lead the way to a quick brunch with the hubs. We were lucky enough to find street parking right out front which is always a solid way to start a meal. Once inside we were shocked to find the restaurant fairly empty, we were seated right away (another solid win). I ordered the Brioche French Toast which was quite tasty and came with a mix of fruit on top. My husband ordered the American Breakfast (2 eggs any style with a side of crispy breakfast potatoes). I will start with the good. This is the second time I visited this restaurant. We were a group of 7 (6 adults, 1 child). The server was very nice and attentive. We all ordered our food and it came out not too long after. The orange juice was fresh and tasted really good. My meal was also good. ISSUE/customer service: as a yelp elite member, we are given incentives to check in to restaurants when we arrive and sometimes are given perks for doing so, not here. When we went to pay I showed the waiter the yelp $5 off check in voucher and I saw them discussing it at the cash register. I went over to explain what it was and was told they don't accept coupons. I told them it's a yelp perk offered by the restaurant and they said their system doesn't accept it because it's for take out orders. As you can see on the voucher it says "dine in only" which I showed them. They said their system can't enter the voucher. I asked them to comp something or just take the $5 off the total. They refused and said they can't. Then they said their manager has to approve it but the person wasn't there so I would need to come back. I told them it's timed and must be used on the check-in time. They said they can't do it. This was not right. I'm not sure the logistics behind this but I was just given the run around with excuse after excuse. I was disappointed in their unwillingness to help. We paid the check and left. Bummer. read more

I've visited this place for more than 10 yrs. since they converted from a Bike shop. For years they were excellent and a "place to go" to for my favorite Croque Madame. It really started to head down hill a couple of years ago and it's really hit a new low. Last time I was here, I complained to the manager about how poor the dish was assembled (no sauce for one thing, mushy bread, burnt crust and a practically raw egg.) Today when the sandwich came, again topped with a glistening, barely cooked pair of eggs, I asked them to crisp up the egg a little, it came back 10 min later. I think that they mic-ed the whole sandwich as it was the bread was consistency of soft Rubber. The service, while not slow is very uncommunicative and cold. I was clearly not happy with the food and I basically got a shrug. Too bad. The place has good atmosphere and location, but the food is one-star. I gave them 2 stars for atmosphere, the excellent lemon vinaigrette and for old times sake. Too bad having to part with an old friend. Fool me once, shame on you. This place used to be excellent but unfortunately went downhill. I came with my family around the holidays and we ordered the halva ice cream for dessert but it tasted like it was mixed with chemicals. When we got home that night three of us had painful stomach cramps. My stomach has never felt these kind of pains before. My only guess is that cleaning fluids somehow became mixed in with the dessert. I called the business multiple times to speak with the manager and let him know that our food had been compromised but each time I called a server told me " the manager will be in tomorrow" unfortunately I won't be coming back with my family anymore as I do not believe they practice proper food safety procedures. Do not eat here if you have food allergies! Had a terrible and dissatisfied brunch experience. Came to eat with my family --- my son has egg and nut allergies. The staff was very insensitive to food allergies. We ordered a fruit yogurt and granola thinking no nuts in it. When it came, I immediately saw walnuts in the granola and asked him if there were nuts. He said, No. Then, I pushed and pulled out walnuts from the granola mix to show him, he went in the kitchen and came out and said, "no nuts". I continued to insist that there were walnuts in the granola mix. At that time, he said very rudely, "are there any more allergies before I go back and replace?!" Not only did he give me wrong info on the lack of nuts in the granola but his question and tone really made my son feel bad for having allergies. Bottom line, there were nuts in the fruit granola yogurt. Very insensitive and if we believed what he said about the granola, my son would of been in big trouble. You can't play with nut allergies. While the place is quite cozy, airy, and has a great vibe (with comfortable booth seating too), the breakfast crepe we both ordered was simply "meh." I really don't have any other word to describe it... it was a bit too dough-y and tasted ok. The portion was generous, but both of us didn't finish because it was "meh." The service was so so, there was an attitude of discontent from our server, especially when he asked my mom how she wanted the burger cooked and then had a patronizing tone with her. Where do I begin? So five of us walked in at right before noon. The waitress sat us at a table for 5 which had two place settings, left breakfast menus for us, took drink orders and left. Fine. So the menu was really limited, but it was only later that we realized the waitress gave us the breakfast menu at noon. The additional place settings? After a few minutes I reminded her we need more settings. So she comes back and drops forks knives and spoons on a pile and walks away. Really? Then the food comes. Putting aside that this place is VERY OVERPRICED, the food was poor, except for the avocado toast. The omelets were thick with egg, which isn't how omelets are supposed to be. I mean 2 inches thick. To say they were cheap ot stingy with the other ingredients would be an overstatement. If there was a pinch of cheese in each one I would be surprised, and I worked as a cook in college so I know how to make an omelet. But what do want for $16, a decent omelet with some actually ingredients On to the avocado toast. Also around $15 per order. The two people who ordered it said it tasted good. The problem is the amount of toast. Two pieces? No. One piece? No. Try 1/2 a piece of bread. But what do you want for $15, a whole piece of bread. Save your money. You would think it would be somewhat sweet tasting with candied walnuts, tomatoes, beets... but the walnuts were not candied (they were roasted but certainly not candied). Tomatoes and beets were flavorless and I didn't care for the dressing. Chef needs to be tasting his product sent out of the kitchen! Truly disappointed. Liked how we got some sliced bread and butter to start. I ordered the Cherry Granola, which I thought was very mediocre. Definitely not my favorite granola bowl, but also not the worst. However, my friend ordered the French Toast and said it was amazing. I thought it looked amazing too-- I'll be ordering it the next time I go. Overall, had an good experience. I've tried to go to this restaurant twice recently. The management seems to have changed and has a very bad attitude. The first time they refused to serve me outside even though tables were set up. They were curt and to the point of rude. I left. The second time was today. I went with friends hoping to get brunch and we arrived at 10:1am m. The door and the internet says it opens at 10am. The doors were locked and the person inside ignored us even though we knock and he saw us. We decided to leave as we thought this was v rude.
