Maybe it's me and I'm just not into this type of food but what I can say is the food was COLD, and the service was poor. No one came to check up on us or ask questions. I sat for an hour with no one stopping by to check on us. It's hard to enjoy cold food that is supposed to be HOT.

This place continues to impress me. No matter what I order, it's fantastic. The five vegi combo with the Keysir and Siquar are stand outs. I'm surprised it's not busier. We got take out here on Friday night and it was ready in under ten minutes.

OMG this place was so incredible! Great cocktails but don't forget to order the tea! we got the vegetarian platter for two and it was mind blowing! Very affordable

The offending misir (red lentils) in all its brothy, brownish green glory.

Enjoni isn't my favorite Ethiopian, but it's usually reliably pretty good. Since my last review some years ago, I've had good and ok meals from here, mostly as takeout or delivery, and always appreciated their generous business hours and speedy service. Tonight I ordered through Door dash and the food was just plain bad. I actually had the thought, "Did my Dasher go to the wrong restaurant?". Only one piece of injera for two combos, order was wrong (no green beans, yams I didn't order, no cabbage), and the food was really, really salty and off. It smelled different (not spoiled, just wrong), and everything tasted the same, like vegetable stock. It was all runny and mixed together like a bunch of different soups poured over injera, rather than creamy, thick stew or porridge like they should be. The color was off as though the spices were different. The misir in particular was liquidy and a dull brown instead of the usual reddish, and it tasted like bouillon cubes and not like berbere. My large side of misir didn't come with injera like usual either, so it's basically like crappy Lentil soup. The whole meal was so salty that I'm about to go fill my giant water bottle again. Ethiopian is my favorite cuisine, and this is the first time I haven't wanted to finish it; I'll probably throw the rest out. I'm left hungry and disappointed and wishing Gabeta were open on Tuesdays!

Love the vege feast. 30 bucks and it's fit for 2 hungry people. 10 different vege dishes each with their own unique flavor. Let the bread soak up the juices and it's heaven for your mouth! The place is located on killingsworth just a few blocks south of peninsula park.

Never having had Ethiopian food before, I can't review this for its authenticity but I enjoyed the food very much! We had the 2 meat, 2 veggies dinner with beets and yam, chicken and beef. The perfect combination for a novice. Service was excellent too.

I'm so happy I was able to try this place out via GrubHub! Because I'd never been here before, I (of course) checked Yelp and saw they had a number of stellar reviews - not to mention that the photos were mouthwatering! There were a few issues with getting my order, which is the reason for the docked star. Even after I was told I could pick up my food via the GrubHub app, I still had to wait when I arrived at the restaurant to get my food. The person working there also wasn't very communicative about what had happened to cause the delay. However, the food was amazing! I so wish that I had had it hot at the restaurant, but even cooled down, the curry had an excellent flavor, the beef was tender and the injera paired well with it all. I'm looking forward to visiting again and dining-in for the full experience of eating the food hot and straight out of the kitchen.

I put an effort in supporting small, family-run ethnic restaurants because they are an essential part of this country's culinary diversity. That is exactly why this experience was so disappointing. Lalibela isn't just rough around the edges--it delivered a genuinely terrible execution. The restaurant looks like a finished garage with a few pictures on the wall. Fine, décor is not everything. Seen, yet enjoyed, worse. Service was one overwhelmed person scrambling between tables all night. Also understandable. The food, though, was inexcusable. Bland, lifeless, and completely forgettable. Every single dish we tried tasted like seasoning had been treated as an enemy. The lentils and cabbage were so flat and pointless that I make better versions in my own kitchen with 15 minutes of prep and no effort. Then came the part that pushed the night from disappointing to absurd. Incense was lit for a customer's dish, and within minutes the dining room turned into a smoke chamber. My guest started coughing, I could barely breathe, and visibility in the room was getting bad. I went to the kitchen to ask for help, and after far too long, someone finally opened a few doors. The response? "Sorry for the incense." Sorry doesn't cut it when your dining room feels like it's filling with smoke and your customers are struggling to breathe. We left the food behind and left with zero intention of ever returning. Lalibela managed to be shabby, disorganized, flavorless, and unsafe all in one night. That is not a bad dinner--it is a complete failure. Worst dining ever

I truthfully didnt read any reviews but we had nothing but good to say about the total experience so i can't really report on negative reviews..only positive. So truthfully i had no idea what to expect but i can say i was pleasantly surprised with how authentic the flavors were. Ok ok, keep reading if you want to get deep into it.. I was there because Ethiopian food is by far the most romantic and intimate cuisine I've discovered to date. And I frequent it. The flavors are bold and original. The staples range from safe, to raw seasoned beef and curried lamb. An American fair ground of new flavors to explore. We opted for the raw seasoned beef with Ayib, which is a wonderful cheese that adds all the good things that anyone could ask for to the dish. If you wanted more because you need an endorphin release they've got you covered there as well. Primarily because they asked the spice level and delivered perfectly, but second fiddle was the small pile of additional party spice that they place on the side rustically so that you can add it yourself. Its not offensively hot whatsoever so please do experiment with it. You wont be disappointed. Or bring a small container and bring it home. Im only disappointed i wont have any tomorrow lol So raw beef, ya, get that. The other dish we had was an amazing red beef curry with all the right accompaniments. Perfectly cooked peppers and onions paired with just the right amount of heat and sweet balance. We investigated a medium heat level and it was safe. Very safe. Very good. Like so comfortable they should just go with one option lol Hot was an option and next time i will probably try that. I'll probably recant my medium argument. The ways spice was used as a paintbrush was so thoughtful, and im pretty sure we didnt even get into the good stuff. Whoever is in the kitchen creating this experience really hit all the keys just right tonight. The last thing i wanted to mention was the honey wine. First of all its extremely reasonably priced. Like less than many of the drinks i frequent, for the whole bottle. At first its..different.. and somewhat jarring when taken back without food. Not unpleasant, just different. But when its consumed with the food it makes, oh oh oh so much sense. It really turns the meal into more of an absolute symphony. This place would be on repeat if i lived closer. The locals are really lucky to have this around. Im not so lucky to be as close as they are but i hope ill be back soon. Thanks for a wonderful night sisters.

We're your only customers and you're not happy to see us? You're not going to give us your undivided attention? You're going to slowly serve us like we're an after thought? 2) Why is it called Sisters when I see no females working there? 3) The food did come out quickly as it seems everything is already made. 4) The food tasted good. It was our first Ethiopian experience but unfortunately did not leave a positive, lasting memory. We will not be back. 5) After our meal we waited and waited. It seemed we were required to pay at the host stand rather than at our table. This was difficult for my friend who uses a cane, but we had no choice. 6) I've been to a Moroccan restaurant before where it is also customary to eat with your hands. That place started the meal by offering a bowl of water to wash your hands. This place did not and I was surprised.

In Portland, we made the wonderful discovery that there were almost a dozen in the area, and we had a difficult time figuring out which one, or ones, to visit. We initially chose Bole because of consistently good reviews and being relatively close to our hotel. It of course had the welcoming feel one expects. Ordering for our group was a little more challenging than usual, because much of their menu is set up for single servings. But has been the case at most Ethiopian restaurants, if you can convey to your server exactly what you want in a group platter, they can make it for you, which they of course did. The food came out quickly and looked and tasted wonderful. Bonus points for having beets in the vegetable platter. They do make the meat dishes slightly spicier than expected - we asked for them medium, and the lamb dish was much more than medium. Tej is available by the glass; ours was room temperature and slightly fizzy. Additional injera is available on request. Those aside, our dinner there was really enjoyable, and while we'd want to check out other Ethiopian restaurants in Portland, we'd certainly return here.
