    Enat Kitchen: vegan sampler
    Chiemi N.

I met 2 friends that happen to be vegan, here for lunch. I'm not very familiar with Ethiopian food, so I was glad we decided to share a combo platter that had 10 vegan items with injera bread. It was all so delicious! The decor was very inviting! I had an unsweetened iced tea which was good. My friend wanted coffee, but the person that does the coffee ceremony was not there. We vowed to return another day to experience it. Service was attentive without being smothering!

Delicious food, friendly service, good vibes. Yummy spongy injera (the rolls you see). Tons of good vegetarian options and tons of meat options for the meat eaters. My favorite was the yellow and red lentils. We got the full 10 vegetarian combo plate and 4 chicken dishes. Not too spicy, which is something I struggle with at some Ethiopian dishes as a total lightweight. Everyone loved the beets. Another thing: this place has fresh food! the last Ethiopian place (different restaurant) I ate prior was dripping in oil. This place was not dripping in oil and I left feeling full and happy. We got coffee which had notes of cinnamon and cardamom. Mango juice was flavorful. Forgot to take photos of our own dishes and took a photo of someone sitting nearby. Amazing colors!

We walked to this place from our temporary home for the weekend. We were greeted with smiles and great customer service. We ordered the combo dish to go. No photos. I love the restaurant decor. Love seeing the culture on the walls. We enjoyed our meal. Recommending to try and when in the area we will be back to dine in.

    Great place for conversation.

What an amazing experience here. Felt like home. Authentic, real, and bursting with culture on the inside. Great treatment and hospitality is high quality. Feels like my mom is making the food We are vegan, got the plate with everything!!! Bursting with flavors. Sambusas we had to get 2 orders it was so good. Wow that coffee.. WE ARE STILL AWAKE FROM IT! Lol. Nothing artificial, just straight black with some sugar- real, raw, flavorful. And the house made wine was DELISH! Very sweet perfect combo with the food. Will come again!! Definitely come and try this place!

Enat kitchen is one of my favorite spots for any meal of the day. I've only been a few times but the place itself has amazing vibes and visuals, the food is great and offers a wide variety of any dish you want (very vegetarian friendly!) and the service is great, they make you feel super connected and at home!

been coming to ENAT KITCHEN for almost 6 years and same time same order .. same taste 5 times a week .. and indeed well deserved to be the highest level of all restaurants.. ENAT means MOM . And I feel like home 24/7 Seeing is believing Tasting is the evidence

    Family platter

Me and 3 friends got the sampler plate and it was just the right amount of food. Our favorite was the beef. I also really liked the lentils. The service was great and friendly. Halfway through our platter we thought it wouldnt be enough so we ordered and additional order of the tibs, but by the time we finished our platter we were stuffed! Still pretty good as leftovers. Would reccomend.

So so good! I can't believe the line for this place doesn't wrap around the block. I am still thinking about the couple style we got- it was the perfect size for two people! Everything was flavorful, fresh, so yummy!!

Everything was great until they took our food to the wrong table. The server we had was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered a family combo and it was plenty of food for 4 people. We also had an order of Sambusa which was delicious. The family combo had 3 different kinds of meat and two kinds of beans. The bread is an interesting texture so if you have texture issues you might not like the bread. Try the honey water, it's very good.

Lalibela used a sour paprika, and the other spices such as ginger and cinnamon are not perceptible. In my Ethiopian restaurant experience, I have never had a sour berbere before. The derek tips were very, very dry, toward jerky. With a dry-spiced dish, you have to get the meat cooked to a moist tender state, almost braised, then combine it with the spices and oil at the last moment. More rosemary would be welcome. The Lalibela Special I ordered lists salad, but it was absent in my order. It's easy enough to make salad at home. The injera was fine. The collards were quite tasty, even sweet, so +1 for that. I woud agree with the other reviewer that incense is never appropriate in a restaurant. Much of taste is smell, and strong non-menu-related smells work against the food experience. Incense entered the air while I was waiting for my order. You never know if another party is going to request coffee with it while you are there, so prepare your senses. I understand that is traditional in Ethiopia around roasting coffee in restaurants. Maybe they need an outdoor patio or a separate room for it? The staff was nice and my take away order was fast. I think this completes my Portland collection, other cities beckon! https://www.yelp.com/collection/S6aAlFKE7m1h14Lmf1_EDw/Ethiopian-Food-Yum
