We didn't have a reservation on this Saturday night, but they got us in. Reminded us to make one next time. Love the bruschetta flight. You can choose from many options. Always great wine selection too. Pinot Grigio was tasty. The veggie pizza was Detroit style. Very good. The summer, zucchini ravioli was small for almost $30. 5 raviolis. Fresh, bright summer flavor though. Very good. Our party also ordered a meat pasta dish that was very good sized. Our server was so great. She apologized about being slow because the place was so busy. We didn't feel like they were slow. We kept saying we were not in a rush. We drank wine & enjoyed the patio & perfect weather. You cannot get high quality, large portioned, delicious, comforting food with an unbeatable, intimate atmosphere anywhere else in the city. This place was quite average. Although the waitstaff were very nice. We came here on a Friday night around 5pm (there were three of us - 2 adults, 1 child). I started with a red wine and we got the bruschetta and arancini for appetizers. The arancini were dry, even the sauce on the outside didn't help. The bruschetta was very dry but the toppings were quite good. For my main meal I got the eggplant Parmesan, which was a little mushy as opposed to caramelized. It was average. My partner got mushroom polenta which came with a performance from the staff pouring it out on a board at the table. All a little weird but he enjoyed the meal. Twenty years ago, I met someone on the patio outside Enoteca Roma who would later break my heart. His roommate worked there and had a shift that night. Years later, when I started working at an establishment on Division, I would hurry past, the heartbreak still too searing a memory to go inside. Yesterday, I went on strike with the other nurses at the hospital across the street. Wanting to show support, Enoteca Roma opened their doors and offered us a glasses of wine and a reprieve from the picket line. Sitting at the bar, they spoke kind words of encouragement, and along with the wine, plates of delicious cacio e pepe, with a lesson on how to twirl the spaghetti around your fork the Italian way. Came here for Valentine's Day, and the pre-dice menu was absolutely delicious. The main entree, which was lamb ragu was rich, tender, and tasty. They had cute decor but really loved the old classic Italian vibe of the restaurant. Hidden gem alert! I can't believe I just discovered Enoteca Roma--this place is a cozy Italian dream. First off, they do tableside polenta, and I don't think I've seen that anywhere else in Chicago! Such a fun experience, and it was so creamy and delicious. For apps, we got the vegetarian arancini, bruschetta flight, and Pirada--all so good, but that bruschetta flight? A must. Everything was fresh and full of flavor. Now for the pasta... OH MY GOD. The Spaghetti Nonna Giovanna was easily one of the best pastas I've ever had. Simple, but the flavors were unreal. And the eggplant parm? Wow. Perfectly crispy, cheesy, and saucy--exactly how it should be. If you love eggplant parm, don't skip this. We wrapped up with tiramisu and caramel cheesecake. Visiting Chicago and found this great neighborhood restaurant in Wicker Park...can't say enough on how welcomed they made us feel, 10/10! And really, when a place sends out that kind of good vibe, you know the rest of the evening is gonna be great. This review is overdue and I'm back on the west coast so I don't really remeber our dishes other than I had one the special pastas that night and our waitress recommended a staple of theirs. Would highly recommend getting yourself a reservation during the colder months as the main indoor dining area is very intimate and was nearly full on a weeknight. We snagged a rez and we got the last empty table. The server was very attentive and was quick to elaborate on any questions we had on the menu. After noticing us showing interest in some of the spicy entree items, she offered un-prompted that any item could be made spicier according to our tastes. We ordered the fried calamari, a pizza with giardiniera and sausage to share, penne in a spicy marinara again with sausage and finally gnocchi with slow-cooked pork. All of the food came out in a reasonable time and was very fresh. The calamari was tender and not chewy in the slightest, and pizza was a delicious, thick pan pizza. Spice lovers will absolutely enjoy the spicy penne and the homemade gnocchi were little pillows of heaven! The most delicious Italian meal I've ever eaten! Our party of 5 started with the Bruschetta flight, the thinly sliced octopus, and the calamari. We then had the polenta with vegetables, and then several main dishes that we all shared. (Well, everyone else shared but I wasn't sharing my pear ravioli with walnut cream sauce-- it was all mine mine mine!) We finished the meal with the caramel cheesecake, the tiramisu, the chocolate raspberry ganache, and a fried pastry with strawberries and chocolate sauce and ice cream. Had a taste for some Italian. Ordered a penne arrabbiata and a cervo. Also ordered a piero pizza. The arrabbiata was not "angry" at all. It had a very good flavor to it, but the kick is what makes the dish. It seems that during the pandemic, restaurants have been erring on the side of preparing spicy dishes mild. This may be the case with the penne arrabbiata. The cervo was also flavorful. This is one dish that I would order during a repeat visit or ordering. As to the piero pizza, while I enjoyed it, the home sausage tasted more like ground beef. It made the pizza taste like hamburger flatbread. Perhaps when the pandemic eases up, I will go for a sit-down meal. Takeaway and delivery often do not compare to the same when you are on premise partaking of a meal. read more

It is truly like stepping into a home style, Italian hole in the wall. It feels like you're transported to Italy as soon as you are in there. The staff have Italian accents, the music is uplifting and Italian, the atmosphere is antique and homey. Everything I've ever ordered there has been superb. As a vegetarian, I LOVE the pear ravioli. Truly a decedent and original meal. As a vegan, my boyfriend adores the gnocchi with no cheese. My friend is a big friend of mussels and they have it listed as a specialty on their menu. But, alas. No mussels tonight. It was suggested that they could use baby clams instead. Holy cow! This appetizer was amazing. The clams were great and the broth with the tomatoes and garlic was to die for. I could swim in this broth it was so pleasant! We could have ordered a bunch more bread and dipped in the broth and left completely satisfied, but we were here to dine! Course 2 was the bruschetta flight. Fantastic. Enough said. Course 3, we split the Colossea salad. Each ingredient complimented the other! Plus, you can't forget the greens. We're trying to be healthy here! Main course, I had to try the venison bolognese. My friend agreed. So, we split a small order of that AND the polo al limone e rosmarino. Both of these were great! The pasta was perfectly cooked and I loved the bolognese.
