I found Ensenada Street Food today. How someone hasn't recommended this place... well, I obviously don't know the right people. Enter through the fence gate and you'll come upon a brightly painted outdoor patio that is right out of Baja, Mexico. It's so simply and sincerely decorated. The little food trailer hugs the patio and the environs are joyously welcoming and cozy. The fish tacos didn't disappoint. They were very good, overflowing, and, thankfully, some of the best I've had since I moved to Tucson a few years ago. I also sampled the vegan birria that featured hibiscus flowers and pineapple. I love this place! It's so great to have a food truck with vegan options. Their vegan adobada tacos are the best! And great kind service.

The food was fine. However their semi-automated "tip" options on their "iPad" are, at best, misleading, and maybe verge on fraudulent. The percent options (10%, 15%, etc) are not calculated on just on the food, but include the credit card fee AND the sales tax. And the sales tax is calculated on the food plus card fee. For example: Food: $53.96, Card Fee: $1.75; Sales tax:8.7% x (53.96+1.75)=$4.85; Tip (15%): ($53.96+$1.75+$4.85) x .15% = $9.08 Total: $$69.64 for food (only) $53.96, or almost 17%. It may be trivial, and adds "only" about a $1 to the total (in this example), but it's still not what the customer is led to believe. read more

Ranked preference from most liked to least. Carne asada, shrimp cauliflower, beans and hibiscus birria. I was most excited to try the vegan birria but it was honestly fell flat. I'd skip the bottom two and just get more of the top. Way more flavor, filling and more going on. I LOVE Ensenada! Their taco Tuesdays are a must for discounted al pastor tacos and they have both vegan and meat options. I got both and honestly I couldn't tell the difference between the two. Their Sonoran hot dogs are topped with nacho cheese and extra meat of your choice so prepare for a decadent experience. It's a cute, hidden gem as well. We were having a party with 70 guests. They were tough to get in contact with. Finally settled on a date more than month later. Confirmed three days before our event. Day of event comes and no food. Called to see if maybe they got lost on their way to our address. They had us down for the wrong day even though our paid invoice had the right day. We understand mistakes happen and they tried to make it right by eventually showing up and serving food (that we didn't order) two hours late. Wrong tacos, no sides, no adjustment in cost. THESE TACOS ARE BAAAANGIN!! Went here on a Thursday around 4:00pm after my girl was raving about them and these babies definitely delivered! Once we got there, the server was working with other customers, but acknowledged us and took our order shortly afterwards (side note: why don't more places do this?) This food truck with a covered patio is tucked just off the road right before GPS says you've arrived. Look out for a blue stucco structure and wooden tables. Food is served pretty quickly, within 10-15 minutes from order. We tried 3 of the tacos- the rojito with cheese, taco camaron, and taco pescado. The tacos are served with lots of pico de gallo, radishes, and your choice of red or green salsa. The salsas are both delicious so there's no wrong choice but the red packs nice heat. The standouts from the menu here seemed to be the rojito with cheese and the taco camaraon. The rojito a decadent fried taco with melted cheese in every bite. I wasn't able to finish mine because as one would imagine it is pretty heavy. But it was DELICIOUS. My favorite taco here though has to be the camaron, the shrimp was batted and perfectly cooked and their sauce was a perfect compliment. Know Before You Go: Reminder this is a food truck and despite having a an indoor building next to it where you can sit and eat here is no bathroom on site. read more

This place is a gem, but don't blink or you'll pass it. Located just south of 25th Street on Park, the food trailer is in a fenced off lot. This is a woman-owned business, and does everything right when it comes to the tacos I had. The Ensenada plate is four tacos, Pastor, fish, asada, and Rojitos. Both green and red salsas were good, the red being hotter. A creamy salsa adorned the middle of the plate. The Pastor was topped with pineapple, minced onion/cilantro, and traditional cabbage. The meat was bright red, tender and juicy in a soft corn tortilla. Outstanding. The fish taco was tilapia (albeit not my favorite fish), but it was very good and was topped with cabbage, diced tomato, crema, and sliced radishes. The asada was good, but the least interesting of the four. Last but not least, the Rojitos was shredded beef with melted cheese In a hard cooked tortilla shell. It came with a birria dipping sauce that was extremely flavorful. Fast action for dipping or you'll lose your taco, but I managed a few times. They have other traditional Mexican offerings, but four tacos were enough to fill me up this trip. Definitely recommended. read more

This little shop is truly a hole-in-the-wall type of establishment and can be kind of tough to find on your first visit, but it is worth the effort! I recently visited Ensenada Street Food last week and was warmly greeted by their staff. They are also taking a lot of COVID-19 precautions with masks, outdoor ordering, having hand sanitizer available, and asking people to socially distance while ordering/waiting for food. They have a lot of what you'd expect for a taco shop (check out the menu I attached to this post for more details) and their prices were very reasonable. We ordered carne asada tacos, al pastor tacos, an al pastor caramelo, and a birria burrito. It was all good and very flavorful, but the real star was the birria burrito. The broth was so delicious and there was just not a single bad thing about it. The staff were also really diligent about informing me about their specials, so I found out that on (Taco) Tuesdays, they offer $1 al pastor street tacos. Since my wife and I have been in quarantine we have been trying out a bunch of new places in Tucson. We started following an IG page tucson.munchies and have been trying places that are featured on their page. One place that caught our eyes was Ensenada Street Food. It was quite a distance from our house but ever since we moved here we have been trying to find a good birria place to eat at and Ensenada Street Food has really good reviews. When we pulled up it was so easy to miss the parking lot so I actually drove past it and had to make a U-turn (don't make the same mistake I did and drive slowly when approaching lol). There wasn't much parking but luckily it wasn't that busy when we went. When we pulled up there was a food truck and then off to the side a spot to pay. They had the capability of accepting cash and card which was nice. I believe that they even accept Apple Pay. The staff was very friendly. They were wearing gloves and had hand sanitizer that you could use both before and after paying. Unfortunately by the time we got home the food was cold. This was not their fault of course, it was just because we live about half an hour away. The reason I point this out is because it was still delicious even though it was cold! We got home, put our daughter down for bed, and got cozy so a lot of time had passed by. I can't even imagine how amazing it would be if we had it fresh! I would definitely recommend this place! We did a mini taco tour and tried 4 taco shops in one night. This place has great Al pastor tacos! I love the pineapple bites on top (which I am normally not a fan). Service was very nice and quick. This place doesn't look like too much, but the food is amazing. This place is a small business trying to get off the ground. I've been twice and both times it's been great. The dishes run between $3 to 8. I believe this is Baja region Mexican food? I would advise parking across the street as there isn't a lot of parking near the restaurant.
