One jaas and one al pastor

I didn't want to like it, but now I LOVE IT. This place is a small. hole in the wall restaurant off craycroft and it is amazing. The carne asada is cry good. The tacos I get are consistently amazing. Service is quick, it's an order at the counter place. I finally got a quesadilla and wow! I don't know what I was thinking sticking with the tacos alone. The food here is great. One of the best taco spots I have found in Tucson.

Very fresh and super cold salsa bar!

This little place is super cute! I loved the decor inside - very colorful - and the outside was fun too (kinda wish I took a pic). The staff was super friendly and helpful when I came in to place a to-go order. We tried a few different things. My boys had the carne asada quesadillas - they were a hit! And fun surprise: all quesadillas come with a bean taco! Big fans of the salsas too - lots of variety and all super cold and fresh, which I loved. I ordered the Sonoran hotdog, and honestly... didn't love it. Couldn't taste any jalapeño sauce, and the grilled onions were more like long strips and not very grilled. Just not my thing. Also tried the chicken bacon quesadilla - so good! It had green chile inside, which was such a nice touch. I'd totally get that again. Now I'm wishing they had a carne asada version with green chile - that would be perfect. My son tried the birria taco and said it had a really nice flavor, so adding that to the "get again" list too. They also sell desserts and homemade tortillas, which I didn't try this time but definitely will next visit. Great little salsa bar too - plenty of choices and everything was chilled just right. All in all - really cute spot, friendly folks, and a fun menu with some solid standouts. I'll be back!

This place is delicious as always. I got the lunch combo. Two tacos and a quesadilla for $12 after tax and fees. I always add grilled onions and jalapeño to the cheese quesadilla. I got the Al pastor and carne asada. My favorite salsas are still the jalapeño and cilantro cream. It was delicious. I came 15 minutes before close and the cashier asked if I was dining in. I said no but it really stuck out to me that despite being about to close she offered that. Hospitality goes a long way. Two more groups came in after me and she remained courteous until I left at 7:55. For that alone I'd continue to support this business!

Happy to see The Quesadillas are still banging out great food. Easily my fave taqueria on the East side; at Grant and Craycroft. So many salsas to choose from but my fave is still the fire-roasted. Always a good staff and very clean. Thanks for both.

    Sonoran hotdog. NO Jalapeño

Excellent customer service... We are allergic to everything capsicum... They made sure there was no chile in our food... The hot dog was delicious... Softest bread ever... The quesadilla was superb!

I love this place. Good service. Nice ambience inside. Food is reasonably priced and so good. Best quesadillas in town (carne asada). Great Sonoran dogs and Birria

Arrived during the lunch rush, standing in line with local construction workers, physical therapists and the local retired ladies club. Tried the Sonoran Dog and it got the job done; just the basic dog, bacon, salsa, mustard and crema. Washed it down with a Mexican coke and headed out. Service was sufficient, nothing more nor less. A hole-in-the-wall vibe, filled with Tucson locals.

Love this place! Every time I come, I've had fresh delicious food, along with friendly, and quick service. Extremely affordable. The inside has lots of seating. I highly recommend the quesabirria or the shrimp tacos.

Wife's friend recommended this place. We were in the area so decided to try it. Nice little place. Not too crowded but it was 1pm. Ordered the lunch special. Three pastor tacos with corn tortillas. Wow! Didn't look like much but very good!! Tucson hardly ever disappoints with Mexican food. I definitely recommend this place. It's a little pricey (almost $11) but I think it's worth it. I'm sure I'll be back.

This place is awesome! Simple concept but complex flavors. We got several tacos, the Al Pastor Quesadilla and the Ribeye Quesadilla. The quesadillas cone with a bean taco... and let me tell you- if I wasn't so stuffed I would have wanted another one. Their refried beans is up there ... and I am generally very picky and don't care for beans. The quesadillas are cheesy which means they are going to be a bit greasy and regardless of what protein you get- sooo good. Service is super nice and quick. They have a fresh salsa bar where I discovered their Pina (pineapple) salsa... I could drink that as a dessert if it was permissible! They have fresh tortillas for sale as well as sodas and desserts. Reasonably priced especially for the quality and amount. Definitely going back!

My hubs suggested that we go to The Frida and see if we could get in. We drive over and guess what, we go lucky, must have been that everyone had a 4th of July hangover. We sat at the bar and couldn't be happier. Our server/bartender took great care of us, he offered us drinks, took our food order and made my hubby a really good Margarita, The Frida Margarita, he said it was bomb! I ordered a beer and it came with a chilled glass and lime wedge. We decided on the flautas and the mole enchiladas. Both fantastic, tasty and hearty! I got full with two enchiladas so I donated the third to my hubby, which he was super happy to eat. I have to say, the mole sauce was decadent and full of flavors. It really reminded me of my grandmas mole. It also left a delicious numbing (very slight) on my lips. Perfect balance of nutty, spicy, almost semi sweet goodness. Gorgeously prepared and looked almost too good to eat. Almost..... The place was full, we were still able to have a conversation. It was amazing. Will definitely be back to continue to enjoy the carefully curated menu. Everyone seemed happy and relaxed! This screams a great place to work and obviously enjoy. Well done La Frida! Well done!

Which, you know, is kind of the whole point of a restaurant. The atmosphere was great, a little on the nose, but great none the less. It feels like a Mexican dinner or at least what I imagined a dinner in Mexico would look like. The staff where beyond amazing, especially the woman who made our complementary salsa right at the table. And the salsa was yummy but sadly that's the only part of the meal that I can say that about. The thing is, nothing was truly bad, but just about everything was incredibly bland. You'd have expected someone who puts raisins in potato salad to have served it, not an authentic Mexican restaurant. Though the positive is the lack of seasoning is really the only major problem. The food did not have any weird taste, it wasn't dry, the presentation was fine. It simply needs to be seasoned and this place goes to a solid 4/5 rather than a three.

Located in downtown Tucson, this iconic restaurant is full of character and beautifully decorated. We visited on a Saturday around 1 PM without a reservation and were told there would be a wait since the place was packed. They only have air conditioning in the indoor dining areas and basement, not on the outdoor patio. Luckily, we were seated in the basement, which turned out to be perfect. The service was commendable truly some of the sweetest and most attentive service we've experienced in a long time. We started with freshly made chips and salsa, which were an instant hit. For drinks, we ordered the El Tamarindo, Mangopeno, and Monica's Cafetini. For food, we chose the Vegan Jackfruit Taquitos Trio and the Fresh Corn Tamale Platter, which came with a side of squash. The drinks were excellent, with the Mangopeno being my favorite. But the real star of the meal was the tamale platter. Oh my goodness it was absolutely delicious! Everyone at the table kept digging in and couldn't get enough. Even the squash side was so flavorful that we ordered an extra serving. The vegan jackfruit taquitos were a bit too deep-fried for our liking and didn't quite compare to the incredible tamales. To finish, we shared a caramel flan, which was the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The pricing was very reasonable, the service was exceptional, and the food was memorable. We will definitely be back again if only for those amazing tamales!

Honestly, I wish I could give Yaquesita a little more, maybe half a star more, because this place definitely has potential. Their flavors are good, but compared to similar restaurants the menu feels a bit overpriced. For a party of three we ended up paying around $100, which felt like a bit much for what we got. The restaurant itself is pretty small with only about 3-4 tables inside, but the patio is a decent size and has a cute vibe. It's actually a nice option on cooler days if you don't mind sitting outside. Some items were better than others. The wet-style burrito was delicious and definitely a highlight. The quesabirrias were good, however the birria felt more like fancier shredded beef. It was missing that rich, spicy, slightly acidic, earthy flavor that usually sets birria apart from barbacoa or traditional shredded beef dishes. The bowl was just okay and had lots of lettuce. It felt more like a salad with a bit of meat, rice, and beans. Honestly, Chipotle does bowls better, and that says a lot considering the price. The nachos were good, but I've had better. Seis Kitchen has amazing nachos to share. That said, it's definitely a place I'd come back to mainly out of convenience, not because one particular item on the menu won my heart. I really do hope they continue refining the menu because the flavors are there and this place could easily become a standout spot. Personally I just think at the total price of my ticket other restaurants should not even have room in my mind during my meal. If you're in the area and looking for a safe bet where everyone will probably find something they like, it's worth giving them a try.
