Touring Tucson, looking for the best Carne Asada in town. Decided to try here after El Rustico. I was recommended this place by a person on Facebook. They made it sound like a hidden gem. Let's first go over what makes great Carne Asada. 1. Flavorful 2. Juicy 3. Good cut(minimal to no grisle, bone, not flat/thin cut and not diced into kibble) 4. Tender Juanito's had some flavor, but it was VERY dry and tough and had far too much grisle. I just didn't like it at all. I had to force my way through it it was so dry, I dislike dry meat. I want to try a different meat, maybe it'll gain a star there, but for the Carne Asada? Hard pass. The service wasn't great either. read more

First, let me say, unless you're online you can't check in. However, this is a great go to. Small but consistent and the food is so reasonably priced you can't go wrong. It's sometimes a little noisier than others, but definitely worth sitting on the metal chairs and enjoying the reasonable meal. Today they even had tamales on sale for $14 a half a dozen. I love the ceviche and the fact that they will put the seafood in a container in the corn tortillas on the side. I like that because then my tortillas stay crunchy. Definitely not the last time. I officially was able to try Juanito's for the first time and it lived up to the hype! In today's world, the prices are so affordable for a huge amount of food. I tried the Carne Asada tacos, which came with a side of rice and beans, and the flavors for everything were absolutely phenomenal. It was filling and so worth the price! Service was quick as well as my group only waited a few minutes before our orders came out. There is a ton of seating but I will say that the attached parking lot can fill up so I'd definitely recommend going before or after the lunch rush. This is a great option and is definitely going to be one of my go-to stops for a quick, delicious meal that doesn't break the bank. read more

Given the reviews, my expectations might have been too high walking in. I got a carne burrito and al pastor tacos. The salsa was good and the marinade on the pork was tasty, but the meat itself in both the al pastor and carne was very fatty, to the point I could not chew the carne. I was so excited to visit Taqueria Juanito's restaurant today! I was tipped off by a local rideshare driver that this people building near Grant Ave has the best cabeza tacos in Arizona! I was raised in a very conservative food pallet home like many Americans so trying new items like cabeza tacos is a very foreign choice in cuisine. Let me just say I am on a new adventure of respecting restaurants that honor the entire animal by properly knowing how to prepare each and every inch into a world class experience. These cabeza tacos did not disappoint! It was extremely buttery and melted in your mouth! If you do one thing this year, you owe it to yourself to put this place on your 3rd spot routine. The ambiance is so beautiful in this space too! We always forget about this place, even though we drive by it all the time, it's on the way home. We had a craving for a quick take out burrito today, and stopped by. I got a mixed burrito with carne asada and rice. It really hit the spot! There was so much meat in it!! It was came with red and green salsa, limes, and chilis, and all wrapped in a delicious tortilla! We got in and out quickly, and service was good! We also decided to try the tamarindo drink. No disappointment here. The service was excellent. Our order came out quickly. The tortillas and meat were absolutely delicious! The food is terrific especially their cabeza. This is one of the few establishments to remove the substantial fat from the cheek meat after cooking. Prices are quite reasonable, although the taco sizes are relatively small too. Their Taco Plate includes 2 tacos (your choice of meat) plus rice/beans for $7. Ala carte tacos are $2.75 each and come with onions and cilantro on small (5 in) corn tortillas. There are about 25 tables - half are 2-seaters and the rest are 4-tops. You order at the counter and you bus your own table so keep that in mind when the "tablet spin" takes place. Bonus: no credit card fee! The only gripe about this place is that word's gotten out, Lol. 11:30am on a Thursday there was a line of 8-9 people already. It took about 12 min to reach the cashier and about 18 min before my number was called to pickup my entree. If you sit far away (the back section) you'll likely Not hear them announce. Just Fyi. Traditional glass bottled sodas are available. Parking can be tight despite there being about 15 spots in their personal lot. There's just a single bathroom but also a separate handwashing station (which was all out of soap). Would I return? Heck yes... the al pastor (marinated pork) taco was good but the cabeza was sensational. Looking fwd to trying there other meats. read more

Our last meal in Tucson before we head to our next stop in our road trip, saw locals say this is a great place so we decided to give it a try! We got two all meat burrito, one with steak one with cabeza, also got a cabeza taco and a cheese quesadilla on the side! Wow what can I say, it's so freaking delicious, the steak burrito is to die for there is just so much meat packed in there, everything was juicy and delicious. I've been here so many times for the beef cheek burrito. The new renovation is nice. The food comes out quick and is just as good as it always is. But it's so loud. I couldn't hear the person across from me through all the noise, it's an echo chamber. So please put some sound deadening material or something soft on the walls to bring down the noise. read more
