I've been a loyal customer of Enterprise Rent-A-Car for years, but this experience was extremely disappointing and has completely changed my perception of the brand. When I picked up the vehicle, I was told it had a full tank of gas, which was simply not true. I had to get gas immediately after leaving the location. Despite this, I was later charged an outrageous $7 per gallon for a "full tank" that I never received. That alone is unacceptable and feels misleading at best. On top of that, they attempted to charge me $300 from my deposit for a very minor amount of pet hair -- something that could have been resolved with a quick 2-minute vacuum. I fully understand maintaining cleanliness for the next customer, but this charge was excessive and never clearly communicated as part of their policy. This experience has made it clear that customers need to protect themselves -- take photos, document everything, and double-check the vehicle before leaving. Unfortunately, that shouldn't be necessary with a company you trust. Because of this, I will be taking my business to Hertz and National Car Rental going forward. Very disappointing experience. I was met by Taylor who quickly and efficiently took care of my check in rental car paperwork, conducting a thorough inspection of the rental vehicle with me, and having me in my rental car and on my way in no time. Don't believe the hype. Enterprise will only pick you up or come and retrieve a car if they have enough people in the office to spare one or two. Which - in my experience - they never do. The nonsense about how much they care about you and your business you're forced to listen to while on is meaningless, too. I had to use Enterprise recently when an Allstate customer did a hit & run on my car. After much legwork I tracked him down and Allstate - in addition to covering the repairs to my car - offered an Enterprise rental while my car was in the shop. I picked up the car on a Saturday at a location in Jersey City and it went relatively smoothly. My one complaint regarded the key they gave me, which was the valet key. They didn't have the smart key that lets you lock and unlock the car remotely or open the trunk. It was a bit of pain and I sure would love to know what happened to the smart key. The real problem came about when I tried to return the car today to the Bergen Blvd. location. I called in advance and asked if it would be OK to return it there since it was nearest my mechanic and I could easily take a Lyft to retrieve my car. I was told it wouldn't be a problem. But it was. This Enterprise location is in a strip mall on a busy thoroughfare and just getting into the parking lot was an issue. But someone finally left a space directly in front of Enterprise and I parked my rental, grabbed all my stuff and went in. That's when I met Nana Afriyie, who told me he had no room for the car. "But I called you and asked before I drove over here..." It didn't matter to Nana. No room. Take the car back where you got it or to another Enterprise but we're not helping you. I called Nick at the Jersey City Enterprise and he listened patiently (by this point, I was angry at the wild goose chase I was on) but his best solution was to leave the car at my mechanic's overnight until someone from Enterprise could retrieve it. My mechanic's shop has a tiny parking lot full o cars he's about to work on or has already worked on, not to mention the implications of leaving an Enterprise car in his lot. What if it gets dented or otherwise damaged while there? Am I on the hook for that? Nick called Nana and they went back and forth but at no point was I told "Just leave the car and we'll take car of it." I told Nick I would bring the car back to him because I didn't have time to wait around. I got back in the car and hit the road but it was nearing 5 pm and rush hour had descended. I called Nick back and told him I was heading home, that I tried to return their car and was denied. I made sure to get him to agree that I'd be met with no additional charges for the extra day the car would sit in front of my house (though Allstate is covering the rental fee I did get the additional insurance to the tune of $19 a day). Nick agreed and apologized. I told Nana and Nick that I am a Hertz customer when I rent for myself because Hertz would never pull such nonsense. I would strongly suggest - if you do rent from Enterprise and pay yourself - that you use some other location in this area and avoid the Bergen Blvd. location like the plague. Nana was not at all interested in helping me and did nothing but waste my time and cause incredible inconvenience. If anyone from Enterprise is reading this, please figure this out. It's beyond silly that you would run a location that has no room for your own cars. read more

Will no longer consider this company for my rental needs. Very unsatisfied member that will never return to Enterprise. Nana, the branch manager was slow, rude, impatient, and just plain unfriendly. I've used Enterprise for years now and have never been treated like this. This store doesn't communicate nor do they value the customer. Aside from me just relocating here and needing a vehicle they wasted my time by not informing me of things that I should have been informed of prior to coming to the office. I was customer with this company for a year. My fav branch is in Ridge rd, NJ. which is near where i lived. I had a trip out of state a few weeks ago and i choose fairview location bcuz of the price is cheaper. First I had problem with different address on my license but finally o showed all proof then get a car. It took for 3 hrs till i get a car. I was asking the lady (Steffany, who walk me to the car " what is my started time to rent a car?" She told me my started time is 10 am ( refer the time on paper which scratched from original time. But when i returned the car, i got charged extra fee to return late (@9.45 am) They told me they not accept drop key during their work hour. That's ok. ... Then i send them all the proof that i was there to returned a car before time. Also they can check camera for the proof too. I sent them 4-5 emails and talk with them on a phone to claim this charge. At the end the choose to return partial amount for the fee. Plus they choose to ignore my latest email which i sent them a couple. I see how services they gave to customers. DO NOT GO HERE! Such a scam. I am so disappointed as a loyal Enterprise customer. The car they gave me smelled horribly of cigarettes. When I submitted a complaint about that, the woman who called me back claimed she smelled the car herself and it was fine. BULLSH*T. My clothes smelled of cigarettes, and my passenger even complained about the smoke. In addition, they charged me for a full extra day, even though the rep who set me up with the car told me that I can return it in the evening and it'll still be included in my rental period. LIES!!! Had I known that I'd get charged a full extra day for returning it after-hours, I would've returned it way sooner! I am NOT a happy camper. I want my money back!!!! read more

Unfortunately after several positive experiences with enterprise was disappointed that when I brought my car back to a different dealer I was told I was Being charged for paint damage on the kick plate that was present on car when I rented it but was not documented by Jake who works there. His prep guy did not show up that morning and he rushed through the check out ... When I pointed to some of the chipped paint he remarked "Oh don't worry about that" I informed enterprise that I would not be paying for the pre-existing damage and their response was to send me to collections while it is not cost effective I have retained an attorney ..I rather pay them the 700 dollars than pay for damage I am not responsible for... I use to like coming here and never had any problems. However, my last 2 experiences were just nightmares. I'm not sure if they're are under different management. I did deal with the same person on those 2 occasions, whom I've never dealt with in the past. Nana, a heavy set gentleman, was assisting me but did not help at all. Did not even make an effort to try to help. I had to go to fort lee to rent a car which nana couldn't tell me anything about the fort lee location. Worst place to book a rental. Beware!! Booked a rental suv (7 seater) 2 weeks in advance and got an email yesterday confirming my reservation for the car. I travel tomorrow morning and I get a call less than 24 hrs in advance saying that they do not have any SUV's available and that they cannot do anything about it and that this was a "COURTESY" call. When I asked if they can check with other enterprise in the neighborhood I was told to check myself. I have never rented a car before however, in the past three months I have been in two accidents (not my fault) where a rental car was needed. I have worked with both Sharelle and Jaclyn (sorry if I spelt your name wrong, I tried my best) who have made me feel more than comfortable coming into their office and being placed into a vehicle that is not my own. They have gone above and beyond what should be expected from a customer service representative. After my first accident, I had such a positive experience that I kept this enterprise in mind. When my second accident occurred, I knew exactly where I wanted to go. Even though going through a claim process is not fun, going to this Enterprise location was something I looked forward to because they are personable and it is very much appreciated. Horrible horrible car rental experience. Nana the branch manager has no costumer service and follows outdated policies. Car was not ready and refused to rent to a recurring costumer since I had multiple addresses from owning more than one home. I found them to be unprofessional from the moment I showed up. My rep was pushy & appeared that I bothered her arriving 5 minutes before opening. When I returned the vehicle the rep who checked me out assured me she would call me before processing what was a difficult dent to find by touch & was only visible by light on an angle. I've never had a worse experience with a company. I booked a weekend reservation here through Expedia. Some friends and I were planning a weekend getaway from NYC to celebrate my 30th bday. I arrived at the location a little early and was informed that I could not rent a car because I did not have a credit card on me that had the same address as my drivers license. They would also not accept my debit card since my license was a FL license. The employee I spoke with said they would have informed me via telephone of the requirement, but there was no # on my reservation, which I found odd since I spoke to someone at both Expedia and enterprise a few days earlier and had given them both my # to put on my reservation. In any case, I accepted this as my error and called a friend from my party to come and change the reservation to her name. Before heading to NJ she confirmed that she had a credit card with an address that matched the address on her license. I paid $60 for her to take a cab from NYC to Enterprise to resolve the issue. When my friend arrived, the branch called some third party to verify the address on her credit card and the third party said the address did not match. Immediately following this, my friend called her credit card company directly and they confirmed that the address on the license and card matched, but the employees refused to talk to her credit card company directly, stating they had to use their third party verification. At this point I was beyond frustrated. The cabin I had rented for the weekend was non refundable and the branch was stating that even if I went to the airport to try and get a car (apparently airports would accept my debit card or a credit card without a matching address), there would be no cars available. I asked the employee if there was any other form of payment they'd accept and she said they'd accept a money order. I wasn't really sure why she hadn't said that in the first place, considering a cab to the bank would have been much cheaper than bringing my friend from NYC, but I was still relieved at the alternate payment option. So I called a Lyft and went to my bank to get a money order. The Lyft there and back cost me $20 and another $5 for the money order. Once I returned with the money order, a second woman, not the one I had been mainly dealing with, asked me if I was able to obtain a credit card. I gave her the money order and told her that the other woman had advised me to get the money order instead of the credit card. To my dismay, this woman said they would not accept my money order and that my only option was a credit card. She said she didn't know why the other employee, who apparently was an intern, had stated otherwise. My friend spoke with the woman and she stated that if one of the people joining us had a NY license, they would not care if the credit card address matched the license. So, we called the remaining members of our group and paid another $60 for them to take a cab from NYC to Enterprise. Our friends arrive and we are relieved to finally begin the rental process. We asked the manager, Nana, if it were at all possible to at least knock off the cost of my traveling to the bank and back, since their employee was the one to give me the run around on that. In reality I think $85 would have been more appropriate since the first friend I called DID have a license and credit card with matching addresses. However, Nana refused and would not take any responsibility in the matter. He stated that he had personally told me that I could only use a credit card when I first arrived (this is not true, I did not interact with him at all until after my entire party had arrived) and that his employee had me read the company policy when I arrived (also not true, our interactions were strictly verbal). I told him that we would have to call enterprise to report the situation and he responded by throwing down my friend's license and credit card and saying he wouldn't rent to us at all. At that point I was so frustrated from dealing with this branch for the past four hours, on my birthday no less, that I went outside. My friends stayed inside to try and change Nana's mind but he refused to budge. He eventually transferred our reservation to another enterprise location down the street (in WNJ). So we took another $10 cab ride down to that location, only to be told that Nana sent our reservation for the wrong date and that he hadn't called to check if they had any SUVs available, which they did not. Luckily, the manager at that branch, Melissa, was very gracious and found a minivan for us to use for the weekend, at no additional cost. read more

I was involved in an accident and the other drivers insurance was paying for my rental, but not any extra insurance coverage on it. Ciarra, told me that if I wanted to take out insurance on the rental it would be waived, as long as I brought in the Declaration Page of my insurance policy, and I did so. When I returned the rental, after 21 days, Kim, the manager - who keeps saying "we just want our customers to be happy" - tells me I have a bill of over $300 dollars for the insurance on the rental that was supposed to be waived according to Ciarra. She told me that Ciarra was wrong in telling me it would be covered and apologized - BUT - was charging me anyway! I said that I would not have taken out the insurance if I knew that and that I shouldn't be charged at all. No one informed me anywhere within the 21 days that the coverage didn't go through and for me to have to pay for Ciarra's mistake is not fair to me, but Kim wouldn't wipe out the debt. So much for just wanting the customers to be happy. read more
