Was involved in an accident....several days later, I received a message from Nikki. She was contacted by my insurance company about a possible rental. Did I need one?...absolutely. Called back and spoke with Maria. Made reservations. The body shop I choose called this location, and was picked up by Lionel. Met Maria and she took care of me with the quickness, and I was on my way. I ended up changing my rental for another one. Maria and Dee took care of me...no questions asked. Once my vehicle was ready, I took the vehicle back and Nikki closed me out. I was driven back to the body shop to pick up my car by Jordan. Maria, Nikki, Dee, Jordan, Lionel, and the rest of the staff were very professional and courteous to my needs. If I EVER need a rental, I will certainly go back to this location! My last minute experience with Enterprise on 83rd went pretty well. Someone had vandalized and broken into my car at the train station on Long Island so I had to rent a car in NYC to get to my car on Long Island to have it fixed because we are in the middle of a pandemic and I'm trying to avoid public transportation. Oh the times we are a living in. Anyways, I opted for a mid size SUV just because and I paid about $90 for the day. I picked up the car on a Wednesday at 5pm, they close at 5pm so I showed up around 4:50. The transaction went smooth enough. My car was new, clean inside and soon I was on my way. Now because of the timing of having the glass repair guy come to my vandalized car, there was a chance I was going to be about 20 minutes late dropping my car off the next day. I was told even if it was brought back a minute late, I was going to be charged for an additional day. I thought this was pretty absurd considering the circumstances. Pandemic, my car was vandalized, windows smashed and broken into, I needed to have the glass repaired and the only slot the guy had to repair it would get me back 20 minutes late and so I am going to be charged another $90 for 20 minutes! I thought that was insane, especially since they had a drop box for keys for after hours. I was already stressed about so much that I e-mailed Enterprise customer support asking for an exception and nobody ever got back to me. I even called and left a customer support message and still, no response. Long story short I was able to return the car in time without being charged an extra day fee. The drop off was smooth. I did however leave my sunglasses in the truck of the vehicle and when I came back to get them they did not have them in their office and said the car I was driving had already been rented. When the car returned, they checked the trunk and they were still there so that was nice. I mean, it means they're not cleaning their cars out well from person to person because if they were they would have seen the sunglasses. I think making sure cars are thoroughly disinfected during these times is really important. Overall, a smooth transaction with super nice people working in the office. We picked up a car from here and they literally gave it to us with a low tire pressure warning (not to mention it already had pre-existing body damage). It was so bad that the car kept veering to the left when we were driving on the freeway. We ended up returning the car 3 days early because it was so bad. VERY DISAPPONITNG & NOT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I never got a car. I booked a compact regular size car (because that is what I am comfortable driving) there were all options car sizes available when I booked. I get there to Enterprise the time and morning of my pick up, when I arrived they told me that they don't have a car. I'm like what do you mean, they said "oh no one brung back the car like they were supposed to and people have gotten in accidents so I don't want to send you with a dented car." I said why was I not given a courtesy call ahead of time about this so I would not have wasted my time and came all the way here and when I booked it said that it was available and confirmed, how could someone else extend a car if it is already booked for that time by another customer. She said we can not make anyone bring back a car. They said they had a mini van that they can give me free of charge as an upgrade?! How dare she even say with no charge as if they are doing me favor when I did not want that size car. I asked to see the car anyway it was a big soccer mom car, which I am not comfortable driving. Me and my daughter had plans to travel to meet our family at a waterpark. SO HEARTBREAKING to look over at my daughter and see her look so sad and disappointing holding back tears they ruined her entire day and mine!!! Enterprise made us loose out on time that we will NEVER get back with our family and money for waterpark tickets for that day that we never ever made it to use!! They just let us walk away without even trying to rectify the issue and make things better. I called the location an hour later and asked to speak to the manager she said she was the manager, she remembered me because she was there when I came in but her story changed she had so many excuses as to why this happened to me that I didn't get a car. I've always heard good things about Enterprise this was my first time trying this company and it left a very bad taste in my mouth I left very disappointed, like I didn't even matter I WILL NOT RECOMMEND. Zipcar is way better at this point. Not only does he have poor management skills if he is a manager as he says. He's also disrespectful and extremely unprofessional. They charged me $300 deposit that should be refunded until 5 business days after the return and nothing happened. I've been calling them every week and they say I need to wait. I usually like enterprise, but that all changed after my last experience! I was planning a trip upstate NY for President's Day weekend with a group of friends, and we needed a car, so after some online search, we stumbled upon Hotwire with not-so-bad car rental prices, and booked a minivan from Enterprise. A few days before the trip I fell ill and I couldn't drive the car. So I called Enterprise, and explained my situation and asked if I can put my significant other as main driver instead of me. I explained how sick I was and that I couldn't pick up or drive the car and I didn't want to lose $550. A very nice girl on the phone said sure and asked for the new name and all the info and informed me that the Driver's name had been changed and that I should receive a notification email shortly. Before writing this review, I called Enterprise again since I never got that email she was talking about. I wanted to make sure the name had changed before going to JFK to pick up the car. I come here pretty often to rent cars for doing mobile audits in the field. Being close to my house, and pretty consistently sporting great rates when booking through 3rd party websites it is a go-to for me. The customer service here far excels anything I've had at a car rental agency before. When you walk through the door, they will greet you and legit shake your hand. Rental car companies in NYC don't get better than this. Staff is competent and friendly, line isn't too long, and you don't have to wait around for 20 minutes while someone retrieves your car. Unfortunately after several positive experiences with enterprise was disappointed that when I brought my car back to a different dealer I was told I was Being charged for paint damage on the kick plate that was present on car when I rented it but was not documented by Jake who works there. His prep guy did not show up that morning and he rushed through the check out ... When I pointed to some of the chipped paint he remarked "Oh don't worry about that" I informed enterprise that I would not be paying for the pre-existing damage and their response was to send me to collections while it is not cost effective I have retained an attorney ..I rather pay them the 700 dollars than pay for damage I am not responsible for... On a block with two other car rental places, this is the one to use, and here is why: Avis, which is a few doors down, has great cars and good service but will cost you 20% to 50% more than Enterprise. Thrifty, across the street, is complete hell: Long lines, surly staff and, on weekends, they frequently run out of cars. Will you save money over using Enterprise? Maybe a few bucks, but it is not worth it. Enterprise is great. You will be welcomed with a handshake and a "thank you" for your business. You are never pressured to take any overpriced insurance or fuel pre-pay (you are offered, of course...they would not be doing their jobs if they didn't offer). If they have a few cars in your reserved categories at the ready, they will ask you your preference. Granted, some of the cars are a little bare boned, but I got a Focus a few weeks ago with XM Satellite radio and built-in bluetooth. They're only open until 7pm, but you can leave the car with the garage attendant when they are closed. Note: If you are a Costco member, go to costcotravel.com and book your Enterprise rental there. The guys in the front are friendly and good about getting your car out and making sure everything is taken care of. The issue I have with this location is with returning the vehicle. There's no real sign for the garage so the first time I wasn't even sure i was leaving it with enterprise at all. Since there's just one driveway, you're probably going to be sitting on the street in the car, blocking traffic trying to get into it. It's taken 10 minutes just to get the car up to the sidewalk. One time I just left it in the street with the keys in the ignition and this guy said he'll take care of it. Did he work there? not sure. Did enterprise contact me about a missing car? I rent cars most often to attend business meetings outside of the city and decided to try out enterprise (i usually go to the Avis on 76th and broadway) as they were close and had a better rate on the day I was looking to travel. I immediately noticed the difference in terms of how friendly the staff was and just overall level of professionalism (making sure to check the car beforehand for any scratches etc.). I drove out to my meeting in NJ only to learn that my client had completely forgot and was out of town. I came back to drop off the car and the staff member that had helped me (Ty) asked why I came back so early and displayed genuine sympathy in my situation. He told me to wait, and then asked his manager (Josh) if there was anything they can do and came back with discount voucher for next time....even though it had nothing to do with them!! Needless to say, they have a new customer now, why put up with surly staff elsewhere when you can get this level of customer service? A must for anyone who lives on the UWS and needs a car. This is a place marker... We were in a rush and behind schedule and had a pleasant pick up. However, somehow my $124.99/day, quoted at $300.00 with taxes has been charged to my card at $617.00. I hope this is a mistake and will be fixed when I return the car. This extra charge of $300.00 cannot be explained by taxes and fees alone... Will update when I return the car since telephone line says it's closed. Edit: So, I called in today and the associate that picked up was polite and explained to me that there was a $250.00 deposit. Considering that I got insurance coverage for loss/damage and supplemental insurance, I do not understand what the deposit is for... As I was told that I am fully covered. I assume that it is a system inefficiency where they automatically place this deposit without explaining it to you. Assuming we have a no problem return, I will update this review to four stars. read more

Not the best of experiences renting from Enterprise at this Manhattan location on the UWS. A couple of things customers should keep in mind: 1. Car doesn't come with a full tank of gas. The representative explained to me that customers prefer this. I'm not sure what customers prefer to have an empty gas tank that they have to go fill up at the start of a trip, but maybe there is someone out there who enjoys that experience. It was also sort of random as to how they designated how much gas was in the car. The reason that matters is you're supposed to return the gas at the same level, which of course is nearly impossible to predict. For that inconvenience alone, I won't rent from Enterprise at this location again. 2. The car wasn't clean. There was trash in the backseat and the floorboard on the driver's side was worn through. I wondered if I was going to end up doing a Fred Flinstone and have my feet reach the pavement beneath the car. 3. The daily charge for the use of an EZPass is ridiculous. I know other rental car companies charge this (more than $4 a day!) but that doesn't make it right. The thing to do is to bring your own EZ Pass, which is what I would do next time. read more
