    Enterprise does not honor reservations PROBLEM #1 Enterprise reservation was created on November 29, 2020. This was 19 days in advance. The reason why we reserved a van 19 days in advance, was because we were RELYING on receiving what we ordered. We went through the steps for a "quick" check in: entered credit card information and driver's license data. Enterprise did not honor our reservation. This was a show of gross negligence and disrespect for the time we took to create the reservation. PROBLEM #2 The pick up was reserved for 12:30 PM and my dad left Enterprise at 2:50 PM. This was a TWO HOUR setback on a nonexistent reservation. We were unpleasantly surprised that Enterprise not only did not have our vehicle, but they had no type of similar vehicle to even offer us! We reserved a van 19 days in advance. They offered ridiculous substitutions such as a Chevy equinox, amongst a few other subpar vehicles; all UNFIT for the job that needed to get done. The vehicles that enterprise offered us were inappropriate for what we needed and for what we reserved 19 days in advance with credit card and drivers license information. Eventually, we were given a Nissan Armada which was not what we ordered but there were NO other options. As a result of this, many of the items that needed to be transported in the van we reserved had to be thrown out. Heartbreaking and a waste of money. PROBLEM #3 The mid December nor'easter had just blasted New York with snow. The enterprise reps were aware that the rental was to be used for a trip to Oneonta, New York where there had been 29 inches of snowfall. My father politely pointed out that the tires of this Nissan Armada were visibly bald. The reps denied what was blatantly obvious and my father was in a position where he needed to take the vehicle because Enterprise set us back two hours behind schedule and there were NO OTHER suitable vehicles. Thus, we were stuck with the lesser poison. Although the roads in central New York had already been plowed, the ground was still slippery. The Armada was supposed to have all wheel drive, as the rep stated. Later it was discovered that the vehicle was rear wheel drive. The vehicle was an absolute nightmare driving around with bald tires, slipping up and down the Oneonta Hills. The bald tires of the vehicle was a dangerous hazard, especially in icy conditions. It was negligence of the reps to push that vehicle on us knowing that the tires were bald. PROBLEM #4 During the drive upstate, the windshield became dirty with debris, which is common. When my father tried to wash the window he was horrified to find that instead of windshield washer fluid, the vehicle was loaded with simple tapwater. The water froze immediately upon dispensing, blocking the my dad's vision. It took several minutes to melt away using the window defroster. This was a cheap move by enterprise and a dangerous hazard. Windshield washer does not immediately freeze the way water does. This was gross negligence by Enterprise to fill a car with water instead of windshield washer fluid in the winter time! OUR ONLY SAVING GRACE At the Flushing location of Enterprise, the only saving grace was an employee named Caroline. She went above and beyond to try to alleviate an already terrible situation. Caroline is the only reason I don't give this Enterprise one star. However, as good as her skills are in guest recovery, the combination of the bad experience both in-store and with the vehicle itself cannot make up for what happened. I write this review so that maybe change can be made and better, safer, client experience can be conducted for future customers. VEHICLE RETURN Upon returning the car, I showed the rep who received the vehicle the bald tires. He once again denied that they were bald and blamed the negative experience on the snow conditions of central New York, "It's no joke up there." Maybe so, but the tires ARE bald, I told him. I even showed him how the Armada tires failed the penny test and are VISIBLY bald; penny or no penny! He refused to acknowledge that the tires were bald. The rep made up a lie of how the gas tank was under and told me that for my troubles he wouldn't charge extra. Little did he know that I had a before and after photo of the gas level. Aware that the gentleman was lying, I politely thanked him and left. I did not wish to have any more nightmare experiences with Enterprise.

By 11:00 am they did not have my car ready and I cancelled the reservation and left. I rented from Enterprise, which was great. Here's what happened: When I was finally greeted after waiting 5 minutes, I was asked, "Do you really need this kind of car?" I said yes, and she told me it wasn't available at this location but was at another location. I was told to consider a Minivan or Chevy Suburban. NO! Then I asked, "Where is this other location?" and was told, "We'll have them bring it to you. You'll have to wait." Next the agent left for 10 minutes. I had no idea why she left, but when she returned, she said they had the car. Then she went away again and returned and said there was a power failure so she couldn't vacuum it. I was surprised because all the lights in the place were on. She went away once again. At no time was anyone pleasant or trying to be helpful. We were getting late for starting our trip and this was getting worse. When she didn't return after another 10 minutes, I cancelled our reservation online (I couldn't find her to tell in person) and called Enterprise. They told me they had the same car I'd tried to rent from Hertz and it was considerably less money. I went there and within 5 minutes was on my way. Everyone was cheerful, customer service was exceptional, and even their restroom was spotless. the car was also very well prepped. In summary, I'll never go back to this Hertz location because of a dirty, smelly facility and indifferent to outright hostile customer service.
