He helped us navigate all the back-and-forth, kept things simple, and made sure we were never stuck without a car. Not a real company! The service is non-existent and they will scam you. We were charged ridiculous additional fees that were not disclosed at any point during the rental and which were added without our knowledge. Additionally they never responded to our inquiries. read more

They do not accept out of state debit cards, or any credit cards over the phone. They were rude and extremely unhelpful. The man hid in his back office and refused to help me or explain why they wouldn't take out of state debit. The place also smelled RANCID. Unfriendly and smelly is my take away. read more

Ended up here after getting stuck in Fort Lee because Enterprise gave away the car we had reserved. Was worried about not renting from a major chain, but car offerings, price, and insurance options were all pretty standard. The customer service, though, was a million times better than Enterprise, I guess that's the perk of a family owned business (although the Budget in town also has great customer service). The pickup was really fast and they allow after-hours return. Overall was way cheaper to take a cab to Fort Lee and back than to rent or do a zip car from Manhattan, plus this place was great read more

I sent the following email to EZ Rent A Car on 9/2/14 and never heard from anyone. I followed up again on 9/8/14 and never heard anything. I followed up again on 9/22/14 and was eventually told a manager would contact me in 48 hours. They never did. I recommend NEVER using this company! We arrived around 8am to the Newark, NJ airport on Saturday 8/30. I followed the signs at the airport for the rental car locations and approached the AirTran, which stops at the different rental car companies. After traveling on the AirTran three times looking for the correct stop for EZ Rent A Car, we were told that for EZ Rent A Car, we have to go back to the airport terminal and call to request a shuttle to pick us up. This information was not written or explained anywhere in my reservation. I was never informed of this procedure. I had now just wasted at least 30 minutes trying to find out where to pick up our car. After heading back to the airport terminal on the AirTran, I called the phone number from my Orbitz confirmation and requested a shuttle to pick us up. We were told the shuttle would arrive in 10 minutes and finally almost 20 minutes later, I saw the shuttle. It started driving right past us and I had to literally run up to the van and flag it down. The shuttle took us to the EZ Rent A Car location, which was in a trailer next to an abandoned building that had graffiti all over it and broken windows. There were piles of tires and trash surrounding the location. We waited for the one employee working on a holiday weekend and when he pulled up our reservation, I asked about an upgrade that was promised to us by Orbitz. When I made the reservation back in June, it had taken over an hour to make the reservation online and I thought my card was charged multiple times while trying to complete the transaction. I called Orbitz to see if it went through and was told it did go through only once. Because of the inconvenience that this caused, the woman I spoke with on the phone said she was going to add a complimentary upgrade to our account. I asked if I needed a new email confirmation and was told I didn't because it would be in the notes when I check in. When we checked in, there was nothing written in the notes and the clerk didn't care about this promise that was made to us. He said I need to complain to Orbitz about that. Clearly, this couldn't help me at this point since we were standing there about to rent the car. He didn't apologize for this inconvenience. Then I asked him how I was supposed to know to call and request the shuttle since we were given no instructions about getting to the rental car facility. He blamed that on Orbitz as well and said they should have told us. He never apologized once or said anything to try and remedy the situation. At this point, it was clear that the employee wasn't going to help us in any way and just wanted us to take our car and leave. He asked if we wanted a Ford Focus or a VW Jetta. I asked for the Jetta. As he was finalizing the transaction, he said the Jetta needed an oil change, so I would have to take the Ford Focus. I asked if there were any other cars and he said he had no other cars. (There were people in line behind us, so I'm not sure what vehicles he rented to them if he had no other cars.) He brought the Ford Focus around from the side of the trailer and showed us all of the many scratches and dents (about a dozen). Then he said there are stains on the interior of the car and we wouldn't be responsible for them. He said he was getting the car cleaned after we returned it. Why wasn't the car cleaned before we rented it?! I asked again for another car and was told he had "no other cars" and we had to take this one. Inside the car, there were old french fries, coffee stains and other mysterious stains and pieces of food everywhere. It was absolutely disgusting. Throughout our weekend of travel (which was mainly on the highway), we received an error message at least three times that said there was a problem with the brake fluid. This error message would appear on the center console of the car and disappear a few minutes later. When we brought the car back to return it, we told the same man who checked us in about the error message. All he said was that he will take the car to the mechanic. He didn't apologize or try to do anything to make us feel better about this horrible rental car experience. To be driving on the highway on roads you're not familiar with and then have a brake fluid error message appear, was terrifying. I thought the brakes might fail at any moment throughout the weekend. As I said, this was my first experience renting from EZ Rent A Car and it was a horrific one. There was no customer service or apology for anything. read more

What a nightmare. There wasn't a clearly marked shuttle. Apparently they are new to Philadelphia so they are using Wally Park's shuttle. So I missed the 11" x 8" sign. Delayed me an hour trying to figure out where to go. Never again! Strongly recommend using an on-site rental car company. read more

Ok granted I'm a local and I know my way around NYC. So if you live in NYC this review is for you. I have rented from these guys probably what ? 15 times ? I really like them. They have hooked me up with great rates and a solid ride every time. I have two little kids and I just can't take a chance on something not being up to standard. So, the secret is that NJ car rental companies are not hamstrung by the ridiculous 20% NY car rental tax gouge. So typically the rates at EZ are 1/2 the the NY rate. Also there is a $2 little bus that runs right from the 181st Street subway/bus station and drops you right by the EZ Rental office. You can drop off after hours and jump on that little bus back over the bridge to NYC. In addition, if you are a people person you can accept a ride across from private cars headed across the GW bridge who need an extra person to get the reduced HOV lane toll rate. There now you know all my secrets. These are good people. They are friendly and surprisingly laid back for the New York area. Now don't go telling everybody ok ? read more

Rented from ez renta car in Philadelphia. Worst car rental experience of my life. I'd reserved an intermediate SUV weeks in advance. They had none available and put me in a minivan. I had to wait 20 minutes for the person to process my rental and another 10 for them to get the car ready. Terrible customer service, just awful. read more
