The Webster location had a full-size SUV available, but the manager refused to rent it to me unless I paid an upgrade fee, even though they had no midsize SUV to offer. Rather than looking for a solution or trying to help, the manager's only answer was to charge me more money. When Enterprise can't provide the class of vehicle that was reserved or covered by an insurance claim, the customer shouldn't be penalized. I expected the manager to focus on customer service and finding a reasonable solution--not on charging me extra because Enterprise didn't have the appropriate vehicle available. This was a very disappointing experience.

We're not dirty or messy people by any means, but naturally there was some dirt that accumulated in the car. Having had a relative that worked for Enterprise for years, we thought nothing of it since people left full damn garbage bags in their cars for him to clean out and it was a normal occurrence... because the cars are cleaned in detail after each use. We took the car to a nearby vac station to avoid paying the fee, and they took the car back. If you're THAT strict about how a car looks upon return, you absolutely should warn your customers ahead of time. If we knew we had to vacuum, it wouldn't have been an issue to do so at all. But now I'm worried, Budget. You got my mind going. Charging a fee for some sand on the floor? Expecting customers to vacuum? So... do you NOT vacuum or clean if the car looks fine? Do you not realize how many insanely dirty yet invisible things lie on surfaces? People get sick. They vomit, defecate. People have airborne, contagious diseases. People FORNICATE. Oh yeah. Real easy to wipe all that nasty crap up, but it needs to be sanitized! Performing a full cleaning is not the customer's job. Instead, the largest vehicle they could give me a was a Ford Fusion, which unfortunately, was not going to work for me since I was moving a lot of stuff. Not only that, they charged me the same price that I would've paid for the SUV and don't give me anything else. I kept calling back and even came back a few times to check and see if they had any SUVs in. They said they would call me if they did but they never did. Finally one came in by the next day but I never would have known if I didn't keep checking. They were able to switch for me but I never got anything in the form of recompensation for basically paying the price of an SUV for a car that wasn't one. Since this place isn't at the airport, they are limited in the number of cars that they have, so you're kind of taking a risk by renting from here. I called Monday and she said well you didn't tell me for sure so now I don't have one till Wednesday, but you can call around to other enterprise locations and see if they have a car for you. I got mad and told her that was her job, and ultimately hung up. I called Wednesday and she said I didn't tell her for sure so now she wouldn't have a car until Friday. She said she for sure would not be renting me one from the location even if she did have one. I thought it was rude and ask for her managers information. She directed me to the 866 customer service line. She needs to be held accountable. She was not helpful, and combative. I'm the one that was in a car accident, not her? Why is she frustrated and taking it out on me? I called the 866 number they directed me to her so she probably had a car every time I called. Miraculously, just minutes after that call, they called me that they needed the gate code that they already have on my account. So of course they were nearby, but gave me a traffic excuse. I already know that wasn't right because I checked it on maps and knew it didn't take them an hour and a half to arrive. To be that close after I called customer service, it was obvious that they made some type of stop without regard to the customers time or schedule. She said she will turn on the heat so we can wait on the car. That's great customer service! I wish I remembered her name but I have forgotten. She had long hair braids. Lovely person! Well, after waiting what seems v like an eternity I finally got out because I noticed someone who came after us drove off next to us! I went to this lovely lady and asked what happened. Mind you there is 4 staff chatting at the counter. She profusely apologized and had someone help us and we were off!
