I have used the enterprise galveston location for multiple rentals the last 2 years. Up until a minth or two ago they seemed well staffed with a helpful upbeat and courteous staff. Since then they appear to have turned over the entire staff , seem to be short staffed and the experience is not quite as good with the current staff. read more

I wasn't in the best mood when I arrived, but Olivia's warm greeting and genuine smile completely turned that around. I was worried I hadn't purchased the fuel option, and she quickly reassured me and handled everything efficiently, making the return effortless. I've used this location a few times. It's the only major car rental in Galveston. The only downside to this location is that they can't drop off or pick up at cruise port. They would love to but the port doesn't allow them. Every employee I've encountered has been wonderful. Super nice and helpful. This location's employees have customer service oriented attitudes. Cars are clean, drop off is quick. Sometimes there's a wait to pick up cars if you're renting on a Saturday or Sunday because of cruise ship drop offs. But the wait is never long. Usually just a few minutes. Easy for Uber and Lyft to pick up and drop off. Would and will rent from here again. read more

An accessible rental agency somewhat close to the cruise port, this location is the only Enterprise rentals on Galveston Island. My brother and I needed a way to from the port of Galveston to Houston for a day, before coming back to take the final leg of our "3 cruises in 3 weeks" journey. So my brother rented a wildcard vehicle from Enterprise for 24 hours: any vehicle that could fit 4 pieces of luggage for $60 for 24 hours. He ended up getting a F150 truck soon after the office opened at 7:30 am on a Sunday. It's a pretty big center with 4 separate registers and a lot of cruisers doing similar things that we were. The pickup and drop-off employees were friendly and professional, opening up to 3 registers if people were waiting. They strongly recommended that we take pictures of the vehicle and submit them via a QR code that they gave: I don't think we understood since the QR code just led us to a PDF document giving more contract information. But taking a lot of 'before' pictures with timestamp is a good idea anyway. It's more than 4 miles from the port, so required a Lyft (around $12) to get here. The rideshare from the cruise port to this location was about 5 miles, and cost about $15 one-way. So total cost (including gas) ended up being similar to what it would have cost to get a motel room nearby. read more

I rented a car for less than a day, picking up the car in IAH and confirmed there was damage waiver on the rental with TWO different employees (I'm always paranoid about car rental companies). There was oddly no paperwork given to me when I picked up the car and when I returned the car in Galveston, they did a walk around of the car, confirmed everything was fine and returned my deposit. 2 days later they say I damaged the car (there was no damage)! The check in process at this location is horrible and long. A person checks you in and you then have to wait again for another person to take you to the car, check the car, take your insurance info, and run your card for a hold for the car. What is the point of the check in person? Other companies have a simple pickup process that is done with one point of contact and is efficient. This was the opposite of that. The only reason I chose them is they are the only game in town. If you are using this location and are going on a cruise- plan ahead as there will likely be long waits. read more

We were given a rental vehicle with a gas tank door that would not open. We had to pry it open with a credit card. We called Enterprise for assistance and were charged $55, even though we eventually got it open ourselves. It took 5 phone call to finally get the charge refunded. We were never able to get ahold of anyone directly at this location. I'm normally a huge fan of Enterprise, but I would not recommend renting from this location. read more

RUN AWAY! - DO NOT DRIVE or use this Enterprise location! I would use a horse & buggy before I would rent another car from this franchise. I drove my rental less than 20 miles, returned it in exact same condition as I received it, never had any pets, smoke, food, children etc. in the vehicle, yet they (Brandon & Angela?) called me this morning and left a message that they would be charging me $100 for a complete auto detail because the car had "bugs" all throughout and even coming through the air conditioning vents and from the floormats.  He also stated that the car's electrical system was shut down and wanted to know what I knew about that & that if it was proven to be from the bugs that I would also need to make an insurance claim with my insurance provider to cover the repairs of the electrical system.... I called back immediately and had a very lengthly heated conversation.   I have dealt professionally with Enterprise through my employer, paying and reconciling monthly invoices for rentals made through our corporate travel so I know their "gig" of overcharging and mischarging customers but I've never once had them say that they were charging a detailing fee for "bugs". When I asked them to show me pictures they couldn't provide.  When I asked what kind of "bugs" she replied "cockroaches".   (Cockroaches, REALLY??...).   The car started and drove perfectly for them when they picked the rental from the body shop only 30 mins after the car was dropped off (where I was told to leave it when I picked up my personal vehicle that was being worked on).  I advised them that the car was returned in EXACTLY the same condition as I picked it up - which was basically flawless & that I felt they were trying to fraudulently scam me.   I drive a Cadillac and for them to imply that I was in a high-end car and that I abused the vehicle was absurd.  I am someone that treats my car like my baby.  I won't even buy a car with black or dark gray flooring/carpet because I end up hand picking tiny pieces of grass and lint off every time I get in the car because I am so picky about my vehicles.  I advised them that I would NOT pay them $100 detailing fee and that I would be reporting them to Progressive insurance (my insurance referred me to Enterprise in Galveston). After that they started back-peddaling and said that they would waive the $100 detailing fee and get the electrical problems taken care of by the car warranty and that they were not implying anything or trying to scam me.  YES, - they were. This is an unacceptable way of doing business. SHAME ON THEM.   Competition is too tight to try and pull such scams. read more

I rent cars here when I go out of town for conferences and I've never had any issues with them. Everyone is always super friendly and professional. The cars that I always get are always nice and very clean. I usually pick up my car on aSunday morning and I always somehow forget that the cruise passengers are also there around that time. I've seen rude, entitled customers that come and the staff handled them very professionally. I have gotten free upgrades before for being patient while the staff deals with those rude people from the cruise. How do I know, because I hear them yelling lol being out at sea then being stuck there in. Our car exploded and left my mother and myself stranded 600 miles away from home. We narrowly escaped dying and lost our IDs, credit cards, everything in this car fire. They refused to help us get home based on their "policy". My mother was 6 hours away from hospitalization after losing all of her medication in this fire as well. After explaining the situation, showing a police report and the video of the car fire, they still turned us away. I will never look to Enterprise again. Since I would be there two days prior to cruising, I thought it would be best to rent a car rather than taking Uber. When I arrived, there were several families ahead of me. After a cruise from the Galveston Port, I found myself in need if a rental to get us back to San Antonio. A friend was able to go online and make my reservation so all I had to do was call for pick-up once we were off of the ship. Once I was off the ship and through customs, I called. The call was answered right away and I received friendly and polite customer service. The shuttle transportation arrived about 30 min. later and we were politely greeted by Mitchell. I was surprised by the distance between the building and the port given the size of the island. Mitchell engaged me in decent small talk and I learned a little about the area. Once we arrived, he helped us unload our bags from the shuttle and told me that he'd be back. He returned with the paperwork, keys and eventually, the car. Once everything was completed, he assisted with loading up the car and then we were on our way. It took a little longer than I had expected to complete the process for picking up the car, especially since the place didn't seem very busy. However, it was easy and the staff were friendly and helpful. A few days later, I received a text message asking if I had any issues or concerns with my trip or drop off. Hands down the worst rental car experience I've ever had. We had a reservation. When we arrived there was a line out the door and no cars on the lot. We stood around in the heat for an hour after waiting in the 30 minute line just to check in with about 30 other families who also had reservations and they gave out cars as they were returned. Management at this site should be ashamed of themselves for how ill prepared they had their staff for the reservations that were booked. Absolutely abysmal preparation. One thing that was both good and bad was the staff were really hustling and seemed to be used to this type of issue. They were all great but again, management should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. Absolutely pathetic management and preparation. I've never had a poor experience with enterprise but this one experience alone makes me never want to use this company again. The associates were very helpful, and I couldn't ask for a better vehicle to get around in during the week I had the vehicle. I even left the truck at the dealership, after getting my car back, and they sent someone to go pick it up. I wouldn't recommend anyone else for this service on the island. On our last day of vacation we thought we would rent a car to drive back to the airport. Unfortunately my drivers license expired on the trip and the dmv mailed me mine to my house while I was gone, we even had someone send me a picture of it to show them. They refused to let me rent a car even if my husband would be driving the car. My husband couldn't rent a car because we were charged for a something on a car we rented on our honeymoon a few years back. We set up automatic payments and thought we heard the last of it but apparently the company never followed through on their end. So today we were given the choice to be stranded to find a new way to get from Galveston to Houston or pay more than we paid for our flight to get a rental car. The woman that helped us was cold and did not sympathize with us in any way. What I don't understand was I talked to a manager at another enterprise and he said he just needed to confirm that my license was up to date. The workers at this place don't care about helping people and won't do anything that requires more effort on their half. Very expensive, in the Galveston port, the price shows $33 a day, $212 final price, OMG. I need the car for 6 hours only, from the port to the airport. Plus they open 6 a.m., so that doesn't work either. This was by far the worse experience renting a car from Houston to Galveston and then back from our cruise. Next time should look into flying to Miami, more choices. read more

Very disappointed. To start they gave me a care on empty. They said it had 1/4 of a tank of gas but actually had 19 miles till it needed gas. After traveling and picking up the car in a new state during a thunderstorm I had to locate a gas station. I do drive the same car at home so you can see how many miles of gas are left. Very disappointed that enterprise has on their commercials that they will pick you up, that's why we rented from them and paid a little more. This location said no. We had to pay a cab $45 to take us back. False advertisement. Not due to Covid and they had other employees in the office. Tires are the suv were trash. The suv drove horrible in the thunderstorm/rain and on the nice day. Cheap tires unsafe. Going with a different car rental place next time. Update: just because enterprise posted a response doesn't mean they are trying to fix anything. I sent my info just like they stated and they sent back an email saying someone would contact me. They always get me in and out fast, and they upgrade me when they can, making me VERY happy c: Everything is always spelled out very clearly what I will be charged, I like that too. Enterprise had always chosen excellent representatives to work this location, everyone there is sharp and work at a motivated pace. I have never been nicked and dimed here. No extra charge if the car is a little dirty, didn't 'fee' me if I returned car an hour late. As long as I was close on the gas upon return they never said anything. You can't go wrong here. My experiences at Enterprise go very well. The employees here are respectful and courteous because I treat them that way as well. My vehicles have always been ready and have gas in them. I've never had an experience bad enough to need/want to make a yelp account but people need to be aware of the danger enterprise is putting them in. If I could give them zero stars I would in a heart beat. I reserved a car a week ahead of time, showed up the day of my reservation to pick up the car and to my surprise they didn't have a car at the time. An hour after my scheduled reservation time there was a car available, at the time of walk through my husband and I notice a large chunk that was taken out of one of the rims causing it to not sit flush on the tire. Proceeded to show the enterprise worker the chunk taken out of the rim telling him that's not safe for anyone to drive on to which he tried to explain why it's ok to drive. He then told me to calm down as he tried to get in my face raising his voice and angrily pointing. I kept telling him it's not safe to drive on and asked if he was just going to rent it out to the next person to which he tried to avoid the question. He tried to tell me he didn't have time to even look at it, but we saw him cleaning the inside/outside of the car; mind you it is very hard to miss this chunk of rim that is non existent anymore especially since it looks like the car was wrecked on that side. After more back and forth of him back tracking he then tells me that he "can't just pull another car out of thin air". My husband asks what his name is to which he try's to avoid answering at which point my husband asks if it's the name that he saw on a business card inside to which he says "yes my name is" (insert name husband saw on business card who of which I do not want to name because they had no involvement what so ever). After we tell him we will be going to corporate he then tries to say "ma'am I can get you another car", at which point I was already done with them trying to put me in an unsafe vehicle and being lied to. Once we get inside to cancel the reservation we find out through another customer who was having issues with him as well that his name is actually Anthony. Anthony then laughs at the fact that I and the other customer are having problems with him stating that he "went above and beyond for this woman because he went and picked her up" which is an enterprise service that she paid for. All together the ABSOLUTE WORST rental experience EVER please heed the warning from the yelp reviews and save yourself by going to a different rental place. read more

I used to use Enterprise exclusively. After this experience, not so sure. Booked an economy car. Got a larger car but didn't appear to be a free upgrade. The Caucasian male agent kind of tried to hustle me and spoke quickly and briefly. Dismissed my concern over a one way drop-off charge that is waived in my corporate code. Said "oh, it will just be $50" Then when I looked and said it's more than $50, he's like "oh well just $70" all nonchalantly. Pretty sure it was bs given the fact that on my sheet it said "standard car" so essentially he forced me into an upgrade and tried to say that the extra $70 was for the drop-off charge. I in fact used my corporate code recently for a separate one way. Guess what? No drop-off charge. Called Enterprise main line to complain. Got a call from manager saying he would fix the charges. My credit card bill is still about $55 higher than it should be. Currently fighting that. Terrible customer service. I did not get a receipt at the end of the initial transaction either. He just said sign here and here, then said alright you're good, then walked away. No vehicle walk-around was performed nor was I emailed or handed a receipt (I had to request this from Enterprise main line). These guys have a lot to fix if they want me back but I'm not sure they care given the dishonesty over $70. read more
